BAMSIMA
Tutorship and mentorship platform that enables high school students access educational materials and career counselling offline.
Access to quality education has been a very huge problem for high school students in Ghana and Africa. Inadequate teaching and learning materials, prohibition of electronic devices on campuses and high students to teacher ratio has made it very difficult for students to grasp what they are taught in school and even receive counselling. Mentoring has been the focus for individual career learners since the mid 1980s. Research has shown that a successful mentoring relationships can assist individuals in learning the ropes of their education, career development and their influence on the society. In Ghana, students do not have to such mentorship opportunities and therefore misled to make wrong decisions which affects their dreams in life.
The sole aim of ENACTUS KNUST is to transform the lives of individuals within our communities and rural areas with the knowledge we acquire in school. In our quest to solve the problem stated, we developed a tutorship and mentorship platform called BAMSIMA. BAMSIMA is a mentorship and tutorship platform that enables students have access to educational resources and counselling offline. With BAMSIMA , students will have access to educational videos and documents filmed by the best students in the country and receive career counselling from industry persons with in depth knowledge in their fields of work.
Our solution initially need internet connectivity to function, but now we can provide these resources to students offline. We believe that our solution will supplement what students are taught in class to provide more understanding on STEM courses so students especially girls can pursue their dream careers and turn their passions into realities through or career counselling platform.
- Educators fostering 21st century skills
- Personalized teaching, especially in disadvantaged communities
This a new technology which we have integrated into our solution to make sure that students have access to quality education no matter the school you attend, family background or financial status
With our solution students will use computers to access these resources whilst on campus and this will reduce the problem of digital illiteracy in Ghana and other African countries. Students will also be taught how to use this technology to acquire technological skills online by taking online courses.
In the next 12 months, we to form bring on board many mentors and tutors to make every course taught in high schools accessible on the platform.
We also want to form a partnership with HITCH and expand our solution to 3 more high schools.
In the next 3 to 5 years the vision of BAMSIMA is to reach half the number of senior high schools by digitalizing their libraries and also go on to partnering with KANATANKA electronics, a local electronics maufacturing company, to build tablets which will enable students have access to this solution anywhere on their campus.

Before developing this solution, the team has constantly been volunteering in GhanaThink foundation's JuniorCamp Ghana. JuniorCamp Ghana is a free mentorship and career counseling program carried out by GhanaThink foundation to assist young people in second cycle institutions in making the right career decisions and also solve societal problems. This program gives us the opportunity to advertise our solution. Our solution can be accessed in the high school libraries, community libraries.
Currently our solution has been implemented in one school we serves a 1000 students who access the platform on a daily basis.
In the 12 months we expect to see our solution get to over 3000 students and 50 000 students in 3 years. Our expectation is to see an increase in students in less privileged high schools being admitted to universities and also more females to pursue STEM courses. More females will help them gain expertise in these areas so they also bring their perspectives to develop sustainable solutions to solve societal problems
