Trueque De Trabajos
- Argentina
In Argentina and Buenos Aires alone, shops and fundamental businesses, franchises, and stores, on my street, & all the streets, every single day, are closing down for good. Whenever you go to your local verduleria (vegetable fruit shop), panaderia (bakery/bread store), parrileria familiar (family steakhouse), you can't help but notice how all these families work, depend on, and live daily on paychecks they receive at these businesses, throughout local 'barrios' (neighborhoods). But all these shops are closing down, especially since Covid in Argentina requires that many shops have certain protocols, some too difficult, expensive, or too extraneous for those shops to follow along. And so they have no other medicine, but to close down. This is due to an eminent lack of cash available on hand, something here we call 'efectivo', or direct payment & money on hand. If you can't afford 'los lujos' (the luxuries) you see at the shop windows people depend on, then what would make you think any of those stores are doing any better? Clearly, these shop owners and their families have the basic necessities of daily life, but how will those individuals find another way to pay for those needs, without any on-hand 'efectivo'?
I lived in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA my whole life but relocated to Buenos Aires, Argentina, three years ago. My reality-check was an astounding realization. So many shops were closing down!
With experience in the field of magazines, digitally, I thought, "How can I make a difference, one which will be accessible to all and effective?"
Not being familiar with the magazine field of print publications, I accessorized myself with an independent editor, and from there, and with his trust and assistance, I had completed a pre-launch template of the magazine edition #1, with all publishing requisites, and have acquired a pre-pay investment from a local distributor.
I plan on publishing initially in the four cities of Cordoba, Santa Fe, Rosario, and Parana. The first edition will reach 4,000 kiosks.
Copies in each kiosk will sell at 100 pesos, which is very accessible pricing (nothing sells at that inexpensive of a price).
The magazine will include within it in a 'classifieds' type format, product and service offers, from those who have such a business and would like to trade their own product or service, and instead of paying for a product or service, they trade for it instead.
In Argentina, 40% of the population is poor.
Every single day, crime rates, hunger rates, violence rates, thievery, etc. occurs, and this could all be reduced greatly if people had an option available to them, which I am working on making a reality.
My magazine will replace the need to use cash for most things that would usually require payment.
Many people in Argentina are very qualified in a certain field and have a degree in that field. However, it is still very hard to find a job even if you are very experienced and qualified because people just don't have that kind of money to pay for such work.
If you purchase one twice-monthly copy of my magazine, you will have direct contact references to people who are offering to not use cash payment. What they are offering is to pay for the services or products they are announcing in the magazine, each edition, not with money, but by the trading of another individual's products/services.
So, given you have a product/service, and you purchase a copy, you could then contact any of the offers and inquire about your trade, without spending a cent.
This fixes a very big problem.
The magazine stems from an old concept coined the 'trading clubs' of Argentina. The reason why THIS works better is because a trading club implies the lack of convenience and location, you don't have time away from clientele to go to a trading club, and you cant take time away from work to go so far as to getting to that specific trading club if it's far away.
The trading, 'trueque' magazine, is like a trading club in magazine print format, so it's just as helpful and it opens up connections and resources for you once you buy a copy (distributed with a film casing, only opens when purchased), yet you don't need to go out of your way to get to the magazine, you just purchase it at your local kiosk a block away. This saves time which is used instead on business affairs. Not to mention the convenience of all your trade opportunities in one publication, one place. It's much cheaper and efficient, and effective, to just purchase a 100 peso ARG copy down the street, and go home and arrange a trade on your devices, then go to a trading club distances away, and take time away.
My organization has an impact on humanity because it will give people the chance to have services or products which they either really need but could not afford for them or their families, or what they want but thought they could not afford to purchase the luxuries, and only buy the necessities.
My magazine will also give people an outlet to save up their money for expenses which directly demand money, whilst enjoying and affording certain products or services, that they did not think possible for their budget or economic status/state.
My magazine will also give businesses a boost and help businesses stay in operation longer. If businesses have fewer expenses to pay via directly paying with money, they have more of that money to spend on the expenses that matter the most with the money they have on hand.
