The funding will go a long way in helping the company to implement these solutions for farmers and to boost their income. We intend to buy storage equipment and materials for the smallholder farmer’s use and also use the funding for loan to these farmers while getting back the capital with return on investment through the interest rate at harvested produce sale.
Smallholder farmers are poor and neglected. They mostly live on less than $2 per day which makes it very difficult for them to cater for their families, children's education. Majority of this small holder farmers are women and they are highly negatively impacted coupled with the fact that they earn very little profit from their farm produce sale due to the issue of post-harvest loss and lack of access to financial inclusion. Our aim is to help these farmers have a better livelihood and be financially included; end poverty, create job opportunities and secure food.
. Farmers need storage and preserving facility to preserve their farm produce for a longer time till prices go higher to earn better profit and to reduce post-harvest loss so that they can earn more profit and boost their livelihood.
. Farmers need to be financially included
. They also need access to market through technology to fast track their sale and income generation.
- By providing loans to smallholder farmers at harvest period at 10% interest rate to help cover for their immediate needs while we help them adequately store the produce in our storage facility using the produce as collateral. When the prices of the produce have gone higher in the market, we would help them sell at their intended price or find a buyer through our eCommerce platform.
- Leveraging the use of e-commerce to connect farmers to buyers locally and internationally thereby increasing their profitability.
- Highly perishable products that cannot be stored for a long time will be bought directly by us at the actual intended farmer’s price. We would process the produce into health boosting products and distributes through the eCommerce platform.
We are addressing the issue of market access faced by farmers and other agribusinesses through the provision of agri-ecommerce platform for them to easily find buyers and for buyers to easily find the product they are looking for. We are also providing storage materials for farmers to store their produce to increase the lifespan of the produce. We also help farmers become financially included and provide health boosting products to people.
In the next 5 years we intend to reach 80000 farmers for supply of highly perishable fruit products and to offer them our services to boost their livelihood.
