We will use funds in capacity building and developing infrastructure for waste segregation at source and its door to door collection. We up-cycle this collected waste. This source of segregated waste is up-cycled by self-help groups of women in rural areas. A small part of this fund will be utilised in the skill development of these women. We are also developing an online market place for these women so they can sell their finished products digitally. We will use a small portion of this fund in tech development also. Currently, 42 such women are working with us and up-cycling 10 metric ton of waste monthly. In the next three years, we are planning to train 900 women and provide them with sustainable employment.
We are associated with direct impact like climate change, Natural resource conservation, Gender inclusivity etc. In terms of SDG’s we are associated with SDG (1), (8), (11), (12), (13) & (14). We use to track certain Impact matrix to measure the magnitude of our Impact. Compared to the traditional channel, solid waste managed by Ecowrap emits up to 80% lesser greenhouse gas emissions. In traditional channels. Through our process, we reduced 2.2 metric ton of Green House Gas emissions for every metric ton of solid waste. In the next three year, we would be managing around 15000 metric ton of solid waste and reducing around 33000 metric ton of Greenhouse gas emission annually. We are also doing capacity building/skill development in women of underprivileged section and rural areas. We are creating sustainable income opportunities through the up-cycling of waste material. Currently, we have up-skilled 42 such women. In the next three year plan, we are targeting to use 5% of the total collected waste in up-cycling this will help us to skill develop and employed around 900 women of underprivileged section.
Every year India generates 62 million tons of solid waste & only 12% of it gets treated. By 2030 India will be generating almost 153 million tons of solid waste of worth around 1/3rd of the current Indian GDP. We are wasting natural resources due to this current system of waste disposal. We can reduce the extraction of natural resources by 80% through sustainable treatment of solid waste.
The lack of waste segregation at the source is the main reason for the absence of a financially viable and technically feasible process for the treatment of solid waste. Once all types of waste get mixed its level of contamination increases and it loses its properties.
‘Ecowrap’ is a one-stop solution for waste segregation, tracking, collection, recycling and up-cycling. Our model is solely based on waste segregation at source and making this sector financially viable. To promote waste segregation at the source we provide the required Infrastructure (Dustbins, Tech intervention and training). Our unique business model incentivises waste generators for the segregation of waste at the source. To improve the financial viability of this business model we added an extra buffer of up-cycled products and FMCG Supply chain in the revenue stream.
1) We are the first model solely focused on waste segregation at the source. We promote waste segregation by providing free dustbins, training, tech intervention for collection and by incentivising waste generator for segregation at the source.
2) End to end integrated channel for HORECA units to segregation of waste, collection, tracking, recycling or up-cycling depending upon nature of the product.
3) We are improving the financial viability of this model by collecting high-quality source-segregated recyclable with almost zero contamination and by eliminating the labour-intensive task of post-collection segregation.
4) Optimising the waste handling process and building an efficient reverse supply chain with the help of route optimisation technology.
5) Improved financial viability of this model by adding an extra buffer of FMCG supply chain & high-value Up-cycled product in our revenue
6) Penetrating into the entire value chain & creating an asset-light model as with the help of technology we are outsourcing recycling, up-cycling & FMCG supply chain.
7) Empowering women by training them and developing a micro-entrepreneurship eco-system among women in rural areas to make up-cycled products out of waste.
