Innovative apprach to early identification of Neurodevelopemtnal Disorders

The global burden of developmental Disability and disorder is increasing and early detection of developmental disability is the key for successful management of Neurodevelopmental disorders. However, more than 90% children in Bangladesh is detected after  3 years. As a result every year we loss the opportunity to intervene them when the it could have been most effective. A strong domiciliary health service has been deployed in the Bangladesh for a long time the front line health workers of Bangladesh has long been recognized to bring the success of health care sector in Bangladesh. We proposed a unique solution “Learn to Care” to train these community health workforce through technology and promote early identification and intervention.

We develop a interactive and intelligent platform to train the Frontline health worker by the experts of psychiatry and paediatric neurology to promote their understanding about the early warning signs and referral them to the nearest  health center for full evaluation. The FHW upload any sign and symptoms of a child in our system.

We Care Project is innovative in that it up lifts the skill of frontline health workers (FHW) those who are equipped with smart phone and internet browsing. They start screening the children from the first contact of the national EPI progrm. Our FHWs use their smart phone to share the vedio or images of suspeted  child or event and get feedback from the experts. Moreover, the system keep records of all the text and vedio from which with span of time we will able to predict most important early sign using artifical intelligence. 

The technologies we apply include the following: (i) Low cost Smart Phone to share the images and vedio. 2) Laptops and projectors for HD video-consultation for the monthly training (ii) Using natural language analysis and machine learning algorithms in idividualized prediction of future Developmentl Disorders.  

Our aims over to improve the access to mental health care for 5 upozilla (sub-district) in two southern districts in Bangladesh where virtually no mental health support is available and we will serve 100000 people and train at least 1000 Frontline health workers. Demonstrate the technological and clinical feasibility of the program by RCT in the last six month.
