Smiley's Foundation of Hope
- Namibia
First of all I would register my foundation so that it can start operating on a legal basis, okay once I register I will then buy a plot in Namibia and then I develop it into a mentoring, coaching and counseling center.
At that center I will be offering classes on social issues, I will be offering counseling for those who need counseling and I will be coaching people especially the youth, in addition I will also be doing soup kitchens for my Community.
Growing up I lacked motivation and encouragement to perform well in school and I was always misunderstood by my family because my interest where always media and arts but my family never approved of it.
So my situation of not being a motivated child led to me failing grade 10 and in Namibia when you fail grade 10, you get kicked out of school until you improve at home and only then you can go back to morning school. Eventually I improved and I made it to University where I pursued a course in BA in Media Studies Public Relations and Communications.
During my years of University I use to attend Seminars and motivational talks and that was when I discovered that no child is stupid and everyone has a gift in them and all they need is motivation, encouragement and inspiration to unleash it. This is why I was inspired to establish my organization because I see where God has taken me from and where I am now, I was helped by so many people to be where I am today therefore I also want to give back to my Community through my foundation.
I am tackling the problem of depression in my society, because it is not recognized in the physical people think it is not a serious issue yet it is the cause of GBV in our society, it is the cause of drug and alcohol abuse in our society, it is the cause of teenage pregnancies, it is the cause of a high rate of suicides in our society.
I realized that many people are broken inside, people are literally working around with too much baggage because of the challenges they are facing and they need counseling, coaching and mentoring. People in our societies lack motivation especially now because of the Pandemic, people are depressed because of lack of unemployment, people are depressed because of comparison, people are depressed because families are mistreating each other during this times of need instead of loving each other, things are happening everyday in our societies because people need help, and it all begins with addressing and curbing depression through mental health coaching, love and caring for one another because we all need each other on earth.
What makes my work innovative is the fact that we mentor, counsel and coach from a spiritual point of view, the reason bein is to understand people from an in depth level and we always use our life experiences and testimonies when we offer our classes.
What we try to do as organization is, we also try to invite people from vulnerable backgrounds who are busy uplifting our societies and who are busy making a deference to come and share their stories, how they made it, where they come from and how they overcomed their challenges.
Our work is done from the heart, this is why we are passionate about what we do.
My organization is having an impact on Humanity because we give back to the needy through our Community Development Projects and donations, what we usually do is we would organize fun games and snacks and then we would visit orphanages and community members. Sometimes we would also organize parcels and distribute them in the community.
Also the fact that we offer counseling, coaching and mentorship classes that is a sign that we strife for Humanity, empowering and uplifting our community.
