Growing up at 12years I lost my beloved father to the cold hands of death, he died because of some health complications that would have been prevented had there been a comprehensive track health record and adequate healthcare center to know the health conditions of the elderly, children, and women. I am applying for the Elevate Prize to seek funding to enable create a mobile health tracking system that I help in providing information of the health condition of every elderly, child, and women in my community for adequate monthly routine medical checkup, treatment, and medication so the people can live healthy and strong.
This unique program will achieve a healthy society, prevent diseases and premature death, prolong the lifespan of the elderly, children, and women because the mobile health tracking system will capture the relevant data of the targeted group within the community and those that might be exposed to critical health challenge because of age, poor environmental hygiene, or internal issues for rapid health response.
The truth is that majority of people die from minor illnesses because there is a lack of synergy between the host community and the healthcare center, particularly in recording, contact tracing system.
Growing up as a little young boy who just lost his beloved father while been promoted to Junior Class two in 2004 was a terrible situation I will not forget. The passing of my beloved father fired up my determination in life to campaign for an improved health care system that will get to the very little person in my community so that the elderly, children, and women can live healthier, and people no longer die from preventable diseases. I want to see a society where healthcare is not a luxury for the elite, rich, and strongest but as a right for everyone regardless of their background. I envision a community where people, particularly the elderly do not see their age and poverty situation as a death sentence because of lack of adequate healthcare, I also want to see a community where people live healthier, longer, and strong because of comprehensive mobile healthcare tracking system.
I hope to see our grandparents proud to say that they are still living because someone cares for and made healthcare available for them to live and sustain on for healthy and longer life on earth.
The problem of contact tracking in the healthcare system has been a major challenge. The Covid-19 has greatly exposed this weakness in the health sector and dealt with countries and communities that lack adequate contact tracking and tracing system a huge blow, thus making mobile healthcare tracking system a good solution to achieve a healthy and safer society.
Adu-Achi is an autonomous community in Oji-River LGA in Enugu state of about five thousand population with elderly, children and women on average of 78% because of the rural nature as nearly all the young people have left in search for green pasture in the cities.
Lack of technology, capacity competence, and skills, social and scientific infrastructure in the community are some of the contributing factors to the related problem which my project seeks to solve. The lack of a patient tracking system has led to the untimely death of the elderly, children, and women because their health predicament was not dictated early enough for treatment.
The healthcare in my community does not engage in a routine monthly medical checkup of community people probably because they do not have a system in place to engage in such innovative and life-saving activities.
My work is unique because it makes access to healthcare easy, convenient, its provide the proper solution to the age-old healthcare problem of contact tracing, record keeping of patients for routine medical checkup, treatment, and medication. Instead of the targeted group worrying about their next medical appointment which often they forget or are unable to make it because of some obvious reason of age, health challenges, distance, lack of transportation means to the health center, and time management, the focus will now be shifted to the program to help breach these gaps. The mobile health tracking system captures information of the targeted group; their house address, health condition, age, gender, name, phone number, birth date, occupation. With these data, we can take medical services to their doorsteps.
My project will create a comprehensive mobile tracking, a tracing system that will be used by health experts with my team to embark on a wide-scope monthly health tracing of the elderly, children, and women in their respective residence within the community to administer, routine medical checkup, (monthly), treatments and medication. Generally, we tend to achieve community healthcare coordination between the host community and the healthcare system to optimum utilization of services.
Mobile healthcare tracking system (contact tracing system) works through the following steps
Step1. Create a data profile for individuals particularly the target group in the community
Step2. Store the files on hardcover files and the computers for proper tracking and tracing of patients to their respective homes for routine monthly medical checkup, treatment, and medication
Steps3. Involve the youth corp members, community volunteers, health experts for the monthly routine exercise in conducting a mobile medical check-up for people (targeted group).
If implemented my project will have a great impact on the life of community dwellers, particularly the targeted group, there will be a significant improvement in community health condition, people will no longer die of malaria, typhoid, and other preventable diseases that can be care when adequate mechanism of quick, easy and comprehensive tracking and tracing strategies are put in place for quick and proper response to save lives. Through my work, the health of the targeted group has become the key interest for relevant authorities at the local, and state government level in transforming the healthcare system.
