Any Elevate Prize funding awarded will go towards the manufacturing of our low energy, portable mask sanitizer to help ensure citizens around the world will have access to better hygiene and safety from illnesses. As part of the 1% For the Planet pledge, we will also donate towards causes aimed at cleaning our oceans from the mass amount of disposable face masks and gloves that have been thrown away, polluting our environment. 

We are are a group of 5 engineers who were directly impacted by Covid-19 related economic turmoil during last year's lockdown periods. We were all working at the same company when we received the news - and decided to do something about the situation. We saw our streets quickly littered with one-time-use face masks and gloves and decided to seek a solution to encourage adoption of reusable PPE. So we started a company and began doing what we did best, engineering! We hope we can give access to citizens across the globe to a quick, easy to use, and effective sanitation solution for their reusable PPE needs - keeping them and their communities safer. We also hope to encourage others to adopt reusable as opposed to disposable, and donate portions of any sanitizing device sold to environmental clean up causes targeting the mass amount of disposable PPE pollution the Covid-19 pandemic has brought with it. 

Problem:

CDC recommends daily washing of cloth masks and replacing surgical masks after each use. 

A 2020 YouGov poll showed just 13% of reusable mask wearers are actually washing them frequently enough and in the right way.

Improper/infrequent sanitation of your face mask, and other high touch items, increases growth of harmful bacteria and health risks. 

A 2015 study showed healthcare workers who weren’t washing their masks properly and daily, were 2x as likely to be infected as those who were.

Disposable masks are non-biodegradable plastic products and end up in our city streets and oceans. 

A recent study showed that 3 million face masks are thrown out every minute -  a huge environmental disaster.

Solution:

Purivy has designed a portable, patent-pending, Ultraviolet disinfection case designed explicitly for the post Covid reality.

Our device kills up to 99% of most common bacteria and viruses in just minutes, saving our customers time and providing peace of mind.

Our design allows for quickly disinfecting high touch items while On-the-Go like phones, keys, wallets - and face masks!

We are creating the first general UVC sanitation device designed from the ground up for the new post Covid reality. We are using patent pending technology to ensure masks are correctly fastened into the device for optimal UVC sanitation effect - ensuring no folds or wrinkles prevent portions of the mask from being directly irradiated by the UV light. We also use our experience in advanced optics to utilize patent-pending reflector technology to ensure effectiveness of our device. 

We have already designed our initial prototypes and moving towards mass manufacture. We hope to get these devices into the hands of those who need it ASAP as well as pledging to donate a portion of our sales to help clean up the environment from the mass amounts of One-Time-Use face masks and gloves that are polluting our environment.
