Frankys Foundation

I'm applying for the elevate prize because I have the potential to elevate humanity and inspire others. I'm  seeking to find support to easily scale our work and shine a spotlight on my community, creating a multiplier effect impacting more lives, and inspire others to tackle life issues and challenges – igniting a chain reaction of goodness across the world.

If Selected a winner, i will use elevate prize funding to empower more women and the girl child who are needy and vulnerable with interest in ICT. The funding will assist in purchasing essential training materials, technical equipment, payment of trainers and allocate part of the funds towards renting of training space. 

My name is Frankline Ojiambo, founder Frankys Foundation. In 2011, I started my career in ICT, I worked as a casual for 3 years in several companies, and then in 2014, I was formally employed by Innovative Computers Ltd as a computer technician. In 2018, I took the leap of faith and started my own ICT company, and in 24th September, 2019, Franky’s foundation was birthed and the journey to put a smile on the faces of the needy and vulnerable started, The foundation operates a small training center on leased space in Nairobi County.

I'm a leader, an innovator and a risk-taker who is impacting my community every day and that's the reason i started an organization to act as an engine for social good.

Our empowerment is a multi-dimensional process which enables the Kenyan woman realize her full potential, identity and power when it comes to hands on skills in repairing mobile phones, and Laptops . Our foundation identified this gap, and went ahead to empower our first students, with special attention on the female gender: the girl child and women. Women are the backbone of a nation, when you educate a woman, her education trickles down to the family, the nation and the society. This may be one way of increasing a country’s productivity and fueling its economic growth

Franky’s foundation obligation is to give back to the community and is committed to looking beyond self, by assisting the needy and vulnerable that are interested in information technology (IT). Our foundation targets women who suffer injustices:  like female genital mutilation (FGM), Gender based violence, drug trafficking, prostitution, unemployment and poverty. To alleviate their suffering, we improve their social welfare by offering them training in IT.

Our goal is to enable the Kenyan women to develop a career in maintenance and repair industry and raise their living standards.

What makes our work unique is that, it is rare to find a Kenyan woman in a laptop and mobile phone repair industry. Our foundation identified this gap, and went ahead to empower a Kenyan girl child and women on laptop and mobile phone repair skills.

We enable Kenyan women realize their full potential, and power when it comes to hands on skills in repairing mobile phones and Laptops, creating new opportunities for economic growth and social development and building a women empowered society. 

 During our training programme, we normally use recycled electronic waste to train our student technicians. As a result this helps in reducing the negative impact the e-waste has on the environment at large.

Our organization addresses the problems most women face, like unemployment, poverty, drug trafficking, prostitution, hopelessness, practice of harmful traditional cultures like female genital mutilation (FGM), and Gender based violence.

We encourage the growth of employment opportunities by establishing training infrastructure and building women confidence through short technical training in laptop and mobile phone repair, providing them with the necessarily skills to run a Profitable sustainable business ventures that gives back to our community. 

Most women and girls  are unemployed and this is like a ticking time bomb to Kenya’s unemployed females.

We Improve the living standards of the trained women since the short-term courses and training makes a quick career. 

The trained women and girls develops repair skills which enable them establish their own business, encouraging self-employment. 

There will also be adequate women and girls with appropriate skills in response to maintenance and repair needs in laptop and mobile phone industry to meet the growing market demand of such services and activities.
