Green Action one
- Malawi
Through D-prize award i launched last mile distribution of renewable Energy technologies in malawi which has supported over 3000 people with clean Energy for lighting, cooking, entertainment and productive use. Productive use solar energy support homes with solar for water pumping which is used for irrigation and home consumption. Solar hair cutting, irrigation, food processing and refrigeration support home to run small scale business for income generation as part of climate adaptation programs. Our capital is small to generate more impact and expand to other areas in malawi. Our aim is to increase distribution numbers with this funding and fight poverty through productive use of clean energy and energy for basic living.
Green Action one was registered in 2018 August with aim to provide Energy solutions in malawi. The enterprise was founded by Enock Palapandu a young malawian Engineer in the fields of Renewable energy technologies and masters degree in hydrocarbon processing Engineering. He saved in public sector and in non government organizations contributing to clean Energy initiatives and gender inclusive energy policy formulation programs. The goal is to fight poverty through use of clean Energy climate adaptation technologies. This is achieved through distribution of clean renewable Energy technologies for economic development and basic lighting systems. The enterprise ambition is to be the lead in developing grid connected energy systems through grid meeting as one way to support the country with electricity supply, industrial development and job creation
Green Action one Distribute solar water pumps for irrigation and drinking water, solar hair cutting systems for running a barbershop business, we provides solar tvs home systems and for rural entertainment businesses, solar sprayers for farming and pests control, solar chicken incubators for rural poutry farming, solar refrigerators for fish farmers, butchering in off-grid communities, solar powered electric security fencing systems and biogas system which use waste to produce gas for cooking while by product digested provide organic manure for sustainable agriculture to increase soil health and crop yield. Our solar systems support health sector through provision of lighting and power for medical devices and medical storage. We support rural teachers with solar for high quality services delivery in rural areas.
We provides these technologies on pay as you go business model where beneficiaries pay on installments. The able beneficiaries are able to buy on cash. We conduct clean Energy adoption campaign programs to create demand and increase its adoption. We also do evidence based advocacy on Green and inclusive Energy where we take ground experience and research results as evidence for lobbying and advocating for more inclusive Energy to rural off-grid communities and inform policy formulation programs.
In Malawi Energy distribution enterprises only distributes solar home systems or does installation works. Systems installation providers are not interested in impact generating as they are for 100% profit which SHS provider most often have no technical capabilities for large systems installation and systems design. Green Action one has unique package where it provides low power consumption technologies together with solar systems for off-grid and weak-grid systems. This helps to lower Energy costs and it support communities with full capacity for them to bring impact within short time. The enterprise has technical education systems which empower communities to be able to carry out systems maintenance to avoid systems failure. Through this high technical abilities it carries out large systems design and installations. It provide solar power using flexible payment options through mobile money services over a given period of time to remove initial investment barriers that are in solar investment. Partners of government through information generation and support improvement areas which also create a better working environment with communities as best one shop point for renewable energy technologies and lower power consumption duranle technologies. Unlike other companies but Green Action one has wide access to durable productive use technologies
The target on what makes a human suffering makes us to provide best solutions for fighting the suffering. We look at poverty as results of a problem. A problem is income generation and low productivity due to climate change. Diseases and lack of knowledge. As such we come with complete package to support in knowledge, support with technologies for increased food production and support with technologies for small businesses operations. In hospital and education sector we provide clean Energy which helps to improve service delivery. Through district development committees we are able to identify the targeted candidates for particular technologies. We conduct trainings to target groups to create demand and generate information. Through the demand created and information generated we distribute technology using distribution agents who we recruit within the communities. Agents helps to reduce running and distribution costs. Along the theory of changing we conduct a number of survey with beneficiaries to assess needs and impact on distributed technologies.
