When HOAMM is selected as a winner, the funding will be used to purchase our much needed centralized location. It will allow us to further developed all of our unique programs and begin offering our culinary and agricultural program which is designed to not only feed our community but offer the Veterans and Homeless individuals in our community opportunities to work and restore purpose. Having a centralized location with the land to grow will allow us to become a place of Hope and Restoration.
Serving as a court appointed advocate for nearly 25 years, I had the opportunity to witness firsthand the many struggles of humanity. In 2015 it became clear that the resources and sevices being offered were not producing meaningful change and we were seeing multiple generations of dysfunction. One issue being that while there are many organizations that provide support services & resource programs to those in need, many of these organizations are not well connected, and the general public is not aware of the resources available to them. Secondly, I began seeing such hopelessness, where individuals had lost the ability to move forward through times of struggle, having no-one to share their burden, to show them how, or to recognize their ability to navigate their struggles. I found myself looking to God many times throughout this season asking, “what can be done to bring restoration to Your children?” It was in asking God to show me the meaningful changes needed to guide these individuals and families to all He
has for them, that Heart of a Matter Ministries was formed.
We will bring meaningful change to humanity by providing services and programs that support physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth with love and compassion for living a life of purpose. We are seeing lives transformed by the love of Jesus!
There are approximately 133,000 residents in Grayson County with 19,000 men, women and children living at or below the poverty level.
The issue is that while Grayson County has many organizations that provide support services & programs to those in need, many of these organizations and services are not well connected, and the general public is not aware of the resources available to them. Heart of a Matter Ministries’ mission is to “bring meaningful change to humanity”.
We are; Working as advocates and mentors to connect people in our community to the support services and programs needed to meet their immediate and long-term needs while building a circle of support.
Providing effective services, programs, and solutions to those seeking meaningful change.
Uniting and activating the body of Christ by building outreach teams that are passionate about serving others in a way that truly brings meaningful change.
Bringing together existing Resources and Services to develop efficiency in how needs are met in our community.
Developing and maintaining a unique community resource database, that allows individuals, other ministries and public services to connect, work together and support one another, making the circle of support for those needing assistance stronger and more efficient. (thecommunityresource.org)
We believe, 'If you want to SEE what you've NEVER seen, you've got to DO what you've NEVER DONE."
We have seen an increase in statistics of individuals and families living at or below the poverty line, current programs and services offered to the impoverished keep them moving through cycles of poverty, just barley meeting the most basic needs. Our ministry aims to teach individuals and families the importance of self sufficiency and help restore dignity that is often lost through generations of poverty.
We know it looks different from what other Organizations are doing, however the results are different too.
Our efforts are taking an Earthdom Culture and growing a Kingdom Culture, leading by example of what it looks like to bring meaningful change.
Essentially we are creating a community of people who desire to walk out the original design of our Kingdom.
Where we love like Jesus and go beyond just meeting the need, but build relationships and lead by example in what it looks like to live with purpose.
We are seeing an increase in volunteers who want to share their gifts and talents and appreciate their efforts being fruitful. We spend time with our Volunteers teaching them to be intentional with how they serve as well as connecting them to service opportunities that they are passionate about. The Heart connect is critical in building relationships to last, this goes for volunteers too!
