Partners 4 Hope Tanzania
- Tanzania
Winner -
I would use 100% of the prize to advance our Woman2Woman Micro-finance projects in the Dessert region of Tanzania for indigenous women from the Masai Tribe. The funds would be used to build a Women’s Innovation Business Center to hire local business leaders to create educational and training programs for women-run businesses. The funds would also be used to create a Masai Tribe community-run micro-finance program and bank as we have already done with great success.
As healthcare and business volunteers, my husband, children and I have spent 11 years working in the South Pare Mountains creating education, health, clean water, and micro-loan programs for villagers. My passion is to “plant seeds of hope” in villages that are in greatest need in Tanzania, in the Kilimanjaro Region.
We have dedicated our lives to relieving poverty and offering programs for sustainability to the Tanzanian people.
Partners 4 Hope Tanzania has worked in villages in and around the South Pare Mountains for eleven years. Our main focus has been to meet with the villagers and gather their ideas for hospitals, schools, and business development and growth in their village. We depend on volunteers to share their expertise and consult with chiefs and leaders in hospitals, schools, and micro-finance projects in each community. We oversee each program/project by spending 2-4 months on the ground in Tanzania. We give 90-95 % of funds raised to build our programs/projects. This way, our donors know where their money is going and exactly how it is being used. We have been very successful in our work because we have relied on the villagers to lead the projects, while we remain as guides and supports. Our goal is always to plant seeds of independence and sustainability.
In each program/project we have been extremely creative and innovative by using the following approach:
1. We listen to the needs of the people.
2. We assess the needs in a particular village or region.
3. We work with the people to create a project using local natural resources, labor, and leadership.
4. 100% of our projects have been successful because of this model.
5. We work from within the community to solve local problems and encourage independence and sustainability.
1. We utilize volunteers/consultants who specialize in a specific area for all of our projects. This way, professionals coming from the US can help those living in poverty, while generously offering their ideas, knowledge, and expertise to help villages in need. Most of our volunteers express that their professional and personal lives were transformed by their experiences in Tanzania.
2. Our programs:projects have helped thousands of people in Tanzania out of poverty and poor health because our work creates sustainable results that are impactful and long lasting. By empowering local leaders to plan and execute projects, women and their families’ lives are being transformed in ways that they never imagined. We use a grassroots approach of planting seeds of sustainability by working within local and cultural norms. And we NEVER impose our ideas or approaches on a project or people.
