Londol Mali Festival
- Papua New Guinea
I am applying to Elevate Prize because I feel I have created a new innovations in influencing people to participating in cultural activities and eco tourism. From the first event it is so interesting and attracted most of foreigners to see for themselves the cultures of Londol village in Enga Province of Papua New Guinea. This is one of a dying culture which I revived after 25 years of extinction after western influences. My innovation is now involving a lot people to preserve their cultural heritage for the outside world to come and see for themselves. Therefore with this innovations, I am pretty sure that Elevate Prize funds will be used it to fund this upcoming Londol Mali Festival which will be an cultural event that will attract over 500,000 people of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea and more then a thousand visitors from other countries. The major sponsors of Elevate Prize will be displaced for promotional purpose to gain international recognitions.
My vision is to create something unique in my rural villages where I can involve a lot of people to participate and benefit. With this in mind my first task I have created is the Londol Mali Cultural Festival which has attracted lots of people from all over Papua New Guinea and even the world. This provoked me to construct a Londol Cultural Center which is ongoing now and the next project is the creating of Londol Conservation and Nature Park. By end of the year I am proposing to donor agencies to assist in developing those projects which can benefit the whole world. My people where so influenced by my innovations on Londol Mali Cultural Festival therefore I am creating more unique projects to benefit my people through cultural participation. My innovation has involved people of Papua New Guinea in preserving their cultural heritage through the Londol Cultural Centre which is under construction and awaiting funding. However, well over 400,000 has witnessed the cultural event and now I am planning a bigger and a better event for the whole of Papua New Guinea and the international tourist in the next festival starting this November 2021
My innovation is solving the dying cultural heritage and traditions of Londol Village in Enga Province of Papua New Guinea. I am the founder of Londol Mali Cultural Festival which is focusing on performing and visual arts ie cultural dancing and singing, preserving unique ornaments, artefacts and handicrafts and keeping stone age ways of doing things in our country before the foreigners settle in our lands with their western goods and services. My idea is to create the festival where everyone in my province and the world to participate and attract tourist from all over the world. From our my 1st hosting of Londol Mali Festival, it proves much success with over 400,000 people of Enga and other parts of the world came to see the event for themselves.
My work is very unique which I have the heart of keeping our own cultural values and traditions. This cultural values has died 25 years ago but finally I managed to revived it with the help of my local communities. Now that my people are participating in cultural activities but their is still a one more need is to preserve our cultural heritages. Therefore I have applied for a local government funding to build the Londol Cultural Centre and its in the pipeline now. After that project is completed I am planning to create the Londol Conservation and Nature Park to preserve our natural orchids, flora and faunas as well as some species of extinct animals we have in my village and Enga province which will be the basis for culture arts and eco tourism. After all this 3 projects are done, then next is I am preparing to stage the Londol Mali Cultural Festival which was just started of in January 2021 and I have asked my national government to approve and list this project as one of annual cultural event.
My steps in making my innovations working is by engaging and discussing with local chiefs and village leaders. Then I take lead in discussing the importance of promoting tourism and preserving our arts, cultures and traditions. This is by doing public speech carry out awareness and campaigns on doing more things in our village instead of migrating to cities to practice western styles of doing things. After I realized everyone is satisfied with my innovation I take next steps to meet with government officials to recognize the importance of this innovations by way of writing to them and they responded positively after knowing that what I am doing is very important in Papua New Guinea where it benefits more then a 400,000 people of Enga Province in Papua New Guinea.
