PROJECT BACKGROUND
Women poor access to economic empowerment, Assa/Awarra community is among the areas most marginalized and devastated by conflict. It lies in the South Eastern Nigeria. Assa/Awarra community is highly infiltrated by poverty and unfortunately has been used to oppress and disadvantage more than 1300 girls, 1,230 women and 1,500 children, immorality, disobedience of human rights, religious discrimination, high defilement and rape crimes etc and the social conditions that contribute to gender-based violence in our country are complex and rooted in our divided past, the greater empowerment of women will go a long way to strengthening the fight against women dependency on husbands, fathers, partners and family members has increased women’s vulnerability to domestic violence, rape, incest, abuse and murder. The reality is that many of these women are more likely to stay in the abusive relationship because they fear being left destitute and homeless. Moreover, the culture of violence against women in our society is often manifested at a young age as it is reflected mostly in our rural communities. BeDunamis & DuMansion Foundation, believes we must provide resources, training and programs that enable, encourage, and support women’s economic opportunities .
We are innovative because we places special focus on Working alongside with poor marginalized rural women & girls because they have often been negleted by other organization. When women are equipped with the proper resources, women have the power to help whole families and entire communities escaped poverty.
When women have economic empowerment, it is a way for others to see them as equal members of society. To bring about gender equality, reducing the excess mortality of girls and women, eliminating remaining gender disadvantages in education, increasing women’s access to economic opportunity and thus earnings and productivity, giving women an equal voice in households and societies and limiting the transmission of gender inequality across generations.
The empowerment of women is one of the solutions to the problems of inequality, subordination and marginalization that women face in the society. This program allows women to function in business and society which in turn empowers them to do more in their communities. The project will empower women to make choices that improve their own and their children’s health and chances to survival and their welfare including marrying later and having fewer children. Critically, this program also increases women’s awareness of their human rights and their confidence to assert those rights.
BeDunamis & DuMansion Foundation, believes we must provide resources, training and programs that enable, encourage, and support women’s education and economic opportunities and that integrate young women and young men into a mutually supportive economical and educational environment by providing internet access through information technology (IT) & vocational training program as a means to economic empowerment to build financial opportunities, increase economic independence and create sustainable income sources such as entrepreneurship, trade, e-commerce. We empower girls and young women by increasing digital literacy and vocational skills in order to help then become economically empowered.
