Girls Who Brunch Co
- United States
With our program Girls Who Brunch, we were forced to go 100% virtual because of COVID. Now that cities are starting to open back up, I plan to continue to grow our now hybrid programming. I will be able to purchase PPE for our team and attendees, ability to hire more people, and purchase supplies. We will be able to purchase equipment for live streaming capabilities so we can maintain social distance standards, while allowing girls that will not be able to be in attendance to still have the ability to attend virtually. I will also be able to host more personalized masterclasses for our girls on weekly basis in our difference cities.

When I was young, I didn’t know my worth. I knew that I was smart, but in the same breath, I was convinced that something was wrong with me. Bad things kept happening to me. I was raped 4 times by 16. I was looking for love in the wrong places, which led to the birth of my 2 daughters by the age of 19. I kept the abuse tucked away and compartmentalized, but the cloud of my secrets hung over my head. Once I was older and started my writing career, I met an amazing group of girls entered my book signing and changed my life completely. Those girls in breathed life back into my body. They had never seen an African American author signing a book at a major bookstore. This motivated me to strive and create a program that will grow these girls and other girls across the country. I learned that using my hardships and tribulations as an example of what the devil means for bad, God means for good and can turn your journey into a testimony. My goal for the future is to grow this program internationally and saving girls across the world.
