I would profit the funding in order to increase the impact of our Project: “Unidos por la Calidad del Agua” by providing more supplies to it. I believe it is a huge opportunity for our team and our organization to grow, in order to use the award resources for the strengthening of our organization on institutional, communicational and relational matters. Besides, as an opportunity of interconnection with other leaders and organizations around the world for learning about their experiences and good practices in order to have a wide and globalize perspective in our team.
I would use the funding for the strengthening of our team in Carabobo, which has a little subsidiary office at the inside of the country that eases the development of our operations in faraway communities at many states such as: Aragua, Carabobo and Cojedes. These zones are difficult to access from our headquarter based in Caracas, so I would invest in Carabobo’s office conditions, providing the tools they need for developing our team’s potential and increasing its value.
I am a young Venezuelan women, I am economist, during my university days I developed myself under social protests and mobilizations, a season characterized by the decision of my university of facing violence or reason, this developed irreverence, critical thinking and dissatisfaction with a system that wanted to implement mediocrity, something that nowadays, looking to the past it was a key part for developing my empathy, integrity, tolerance and humanity, the base of who I am today personally and professionally.
Public service has always been on me, I work everyday for defending and protecting human rights at vulnerable communities, especially as project manager of “Unidos por la Calidad del Agua” in which we provide access to clean water to these communities, as part of humanitarian aid. This is possible because of the support of the European union.
As a professional I would like to learn a new language, study an MBA and keep apporting value to my job and my organization with new knowledge, tools and networking.
The lack of access to water and its consequences is a challenge that increases the Complex Humanitarian Crisis in Venezuela. The arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic increases the challenges civil society needs to face, in order to fulfill the prevention protocols because their basic services as water aren’t efficient or healthy for approximately 4 million Venezuelans. All this, causes difficulties to achieve society’s daily routines, and develops new violence as protests fighting for a human right as access to water.
Consorcio Desarrollo y Justicia is an NGO with 27 years of experience, which promotes democracy, rule of law and Human Rights in Venezuela. We implement and promote sustainable development regarding social issues and the protection of Human Rights.
Our project “Unidos por la Calidad del Agua” is a platform built with the cooperation of more than 200 organizations and key actors, this platform’s objective is raising the awareness, participation and communication among these actors involved in Water access and sanitation by increasing their organizational capacities and impact.
We bet for encouraging a new water governance model based on a governance network model. We work for providing public information access regarding environmental matters . Citizens has been sentenced to vulnerability because the lack of information about the situation of water and because of this they can’t perform their right to participation in politics regarding this matter.
That’s why we focus our efforts into decision making process influence by organizations and civil society articulation, analysis and discussion for giving answers to community’s problems. Another value of our initiative is the support to social entrepreneurship regarding water purification and management by the involvement and empowerment of society into this activity causing a positive and sustainable impact in their communities.
Our project has 4 routes of action: Investigation, academic training, activism and entrepreneurship, these routes move forward simultaneously. Regarding the investigation part we make studies and monitoring of access to water and its quality at the central region of the country, which requires the understanding of the ecosystem impact, socioeconomic impact and the key actor’s position in this dynamic.
Regarding academic training we teach by workshops of home water’s purification at vulnerable communities, also we give the public policies diplomat in partnership with Universidad de Carabobo and its professionals.
At entrepreneurship we provide capacity building for community leaders and entrepreneurs of these vulnerable zones by giving them a water treatment plant and a seed capital for their community projects.
Finally, we were selected by the “Paris Peace Forum” as one of the one hundred world’s best peace solutions.
