ABOUT COMPANY

Care Form Labs Private Limited, is an SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) centric design lab. The company was incorporated in January 2020 at Ranchi, Jharkhand, India and run by a group of creative minds. The company’s mission is to create social brands backed by a couple of novel and few white label products aimed at solving social problems.

Under this, the first brand company has been created and has been named ‘Onpery™’. This is a ‘sustainable menstrual hygiene’ brand. The first product is an innovative menstrual cup (patent pending) that is easy to use and easy to switch.

BRAND

Onpery™ is a sustainable menstrual hygiene brand, which was launched in India on International Women’s Day 2021 (8th March 2021). The objective is to create a better menstrual hygiene experience for menstruators who have to go through menstruation periodically as well as those who have erratic cycles. The aim is to make sustainable menstrual hygiene not just inclusive towards menstruators but also our planet.

PROJECT BACKGROUND (PROBLEM)

• 9000 tons of menstrual sanitary waste is generated in India annually (which is from 12.1 billion generic Sanitary Pads being used and dumped in India each year)

• 500-800 years of decomposition time is taken by generic sanitary pads. (These napkins are supposed to be purchased on a regular basis which is not economical and end up being hazardous to our environment, also a large number of users experience rashes and odour issues with regular napkins)

• 64% of menstruators in India are not using menstrual sanitary products (to which one of the main reasons is them not being able to afford conventional sanitary pads)

Menstrual Cups was concluded to be the most sustainable hygienic and long term economical menstrual products but with very less use in South-Asian countries as menstruators find it difficult/tricky to insert or remove them. They also face spillage issues and most cups do not possess an ergonomic design. There is hesitation related to its hygiene value and upkeep, followed by numerous myths and taboos as well.

PRODUCT (SOLUTION)

Care Form Labs Private Limited has re-designed the Menstrual Cup (which is sustainable, hygienic and long term economical product) by providing : a curved inclination at the top-rim for ‘easy insertion’ which makes the opening area smaller when folded and gives a direction; concave grooves at the bottom which need to be pitched once inserted for ‘assured popping’; two curved-flat faces at the front and back which gives instant feedback of breaking the seal when pressed for ‘easy removal’; and higher back side and internal ribs which makes it ‘spill resistant’; All of these factors makes it user-centric, ergonomic and intuitive product, hence helps the user to switch to cups easily.

Competitive Advantage: This happens to be the first novel (patent pending) award winning Menstrual Cup to be designed-in-India, for a better usage experience.

One Cup can be used for more than 5 years and replaces more than 750 Sanitary Napkins. It is made with Medical Grade Silicone and happens to be rash-free as well as odor-free. It is 100% suitable for activities such as sports, swimming and moulds into any menstruators hectic work lifestyle.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The menstruators in urban cities (tier 1) of age group 20-30 years, with a profile of students or young professionals have been the primary audience of Menstrual Cups. With this new design, we are also targeting urban tier 2, tier 3 cities, and rural areas with age groups between 18-45 years, from diverse backgrounds who are motivated to switch for sustainability. The targeted profiles are students, young and adult professionals, newly married women, new mothers, women to play sports, travelers, financially underprivileged menstruators, and transgenders. For people in Urban India the motivation is around sustainability and economics; and for Rural India the motivation is around privacy, economics, and hygiene. We are also looking at cleaning staff from municipal and private spaces who will be our indirect beneficiaries.
