Oasis centre
Digital courses + Virtual Reality scientific experiments + Personalized mentoring for the performance of pupils at school.
Our students cannot assimilate their courses due to an excess of theory in the lessons. Indeed, the success rate for the Baccalaureate in Cameroon has from 56.99% in 2015 to 52% in 2016 and 42% in 2017 according to the National Office of the Cameroonian Baccalaureate. Paradoxically, parents continue to spend an average of $ 50 / month / child for even more theoretical repetition courses. Out of 100 students we interviewed from 3 different schools: 62% of students have difficulties in scientific courses, those require visual and audio experiences (such as video courses); 48% say that they suffer precisely from the lack of practice and interactivity of teaching (interactive tutorials); 36% say it's lack of local support (mentoring).
Today we must find an inexpensive but effective alternative that would allow students to practice: Touchpads + digital courses + mentoring with a strong emphasis on helping between students.
Our solution is to make learning more interactive through the use of touchpads or computers or smartphones, VR scientific experiments and digital courses. We will propose support service for students through digital courses and personalized mentoring with a strong emphasis on helping between students. We will select digital courses online developed by the best startups, as well as virtual reality solutions for scientific experiments and combine with mentoring all in a connected space.
Colleges and high schools in developing countries do not have the means to have modern laboratories to allow students to visualize and experiment their courses too theoretical. This is not a reason why our students are completely cut off from reality and can not fit into this globalized environment. We believe that OASIS centers can make a significant contribution to improving student performance and keeping them in the global race.
- Supportive ecosystems for educators
- Personalized teaching, especially in disadvantaged communities
OASIS CENTRE is a multimedia classroom equipped with 15 touchpads or computers + 10 VR headsets, a video projector and a WIFI connection. Students come to take part in interactive digital tutorials after class, under the supervision of educators (called mentors). Students will review video lessons to acquire practical reflexes through touchpads and VR headsets and have training sessions based on real-world cases, which will allow them to learn more about their lessons. Small interactives continuous assessments will be scheduled and will allow to see the evolution of the performances of the pupils.
Technology is an integral part of our OASIS CENTRE solution. We use touchpads and VR headsets for course visualization and simulation of scientific experiments, a mini server (designed and assembled by us) to store free video lessons taken on the web. We also use open source software for practical experiments. These are carefully selected so that only those that are adapted to local programs are retained.
Finalize the pilot phase which means have accompanied 15 students firstly during the holidays and secondly during the 2 trimesters of the new school year. We expect to have 15 students enrolled regularly in our first centre during the year 2018-2019. We will also launch our first Fab-Lab in collaboration with Ecolia Lab.
Over the next 5 years we plan to open 5 OASIS CENTER including 3 in the city of Yaoundé and 2 in the city of Douala. We will impact nearly 100,000 students because we are also planning a suitable solution for schools. Indeed, we will also develop a service allowing schools to have their own fully equipped OASIS CENTER which they will pay over a period ranging from 1 to 2 years. In terms of job creation, we expect to create 50 manager and mentor positions in our five centres.

We focus on proximity communication. We meet students at the end of classes and we distribute flyers. We organize events and participate in meetings to reach parents of students. We communicate mainly on social networks. We also go door to door. We also stick posters.
Our pilot phase consists mainly of offering adolescent cognitive skills development activities through playful tutorials. Since these are the holidays, we offer multimedia creation workshops thanks to the API scratch. We are going to make fun videoprojection sessions that will allow students to learn. We will also offer introductory courses in digital ethics. We expect a total of 15 teenagers during this pilot phase.
30 students will be directly impacted in the next 12 months. In the next 3 years, we will have 1,000 students through the 3 centers we will have set up and the first center within a school. Each of our centers will have a capacity of 15 students, but the centers we will offer schools will have a capacity of 30 students. We believe that in 1 year, all students who benefit from the OASIS method will increase their average by 15%. We are based on recent studies by an NGO and the Cameroon Ministry of Secondary Education.

Access to e-learning and tutorials 2.0 will be by monthly subscription and subject for students. The monthly subscription will be $ 10 / course. We will also offer website development services all in one and at very competitive rates using innovative APIs as WIX. To have a website all taxes included (assembly, hosting, domain name, SSL) it will be from $ 200 and not more than $ 500. All websites will be ready in 72h.
For institutions, we will offer credits. Indeed, schools wanting to have an OASIS CENTER will directly pay us 25% of the total amount of the investment and we will finance the rest ourselves. Then they will pay us back on 12 months or 24 months according to their means.
We seek to develop our service. We are looking for rewarding opportunities and human experiences. We believe that this call for projects can increase our visibility, give us access to a great opportunities and bring us partners.
As an initiative of the MIT (may be the most relevant institute of technologies in the world), we strongly think that this will open many doors for us and for our community.
Launch a strong and powerfull marketing campaign. Also find available, 100% committed eduators (our mentors) who will understand the OASIS methosis. Also a bad internet connection, the misunderstanding of the service by the parents of students. An insufficient number of students subscribing to the Center. A low fund recovery rate, parents who do not pay subscriptions on time.
