RESILIENCE 2020
Imagine a world where we don’t need to worry about the climate, ecological and economic crises. Through Resilience 2020’s system this is possible and replicable independently of the household’s socioeconomic status. Our project’s goal is to change people’s way to produce and consume in order to mitigate their environmental impact by installing ecotechnics (water harvesting, compost, greenhouses, solar heaters and biodigesters) FOR FREE and integrating the actors (households, businesses and farmers) into a circular economy model that generates them an extra income.
Due to COVID-19 crisis more than a million people have lost their jobs in Mexico and the number is growing, however, this doesn’t compare to the economic crisis that we are heading into due to the climate and ecologic crisis. By 2100 the impact on the world GDP will be 25%, which could cause the collapse of the financial system (NGFS, 2020). Resilience 2020 aime to help people to opt for a more eco friendly option for their homes while earning an extra income for their families and allined their homes with the SDGs.
(water harvesting, compost, greenhouses, solar heaters and biodigesters) FOR FREE and integrate the actors (households, businesses and farmers) into a circular economy model. For example, through the implementation of biodigesters in the households and businesses in urban areas, families and businesses produce biogas and biol. The latter is bought by us and then sold at affordable prices to farmers, whose products in the end, are taken back to the urban actors for consumption. In this way, we ensure farmers the access to organic fertilizers at a competitive price, and a way to avoid economic loss due to the inability to place their products in the market. In addition to the previously mentioned, we reduce the fuel gas expenditure in urban areas, and generate an extra income to the beneficiaries from the biol transaction.
In numbers:- Households that receive the ecotechnics receive 10% of the mexican avarage montlhy income.
- Thorugh the solar heater and the biodigester households reduce at least 90% of therur fossil fuel gas expenditure.
- Farmers by the biol (organic fertilizer) at the same price as the cheapest sintetic fertilizer.
- As en example: we by farmers their products at a better price (+15%).
Resilience 2020 has the potential to mitigate global issues, therefore our goal is to reach every person and community in the world who welcomes us so that Resilience 2020 can help them reinvent the way in which they live.
HOUSEHOLDS
At its first stage the audience that will be directly benefited by the project are households from any socioeconomic status and businesses in Mexico, as well as local farm producers.
Each home that wants to benefit fills a survey and we prioritize according to the following criteria:
- Houselholds commitment
- Space for the biodigester
- Space and other requierements for the solar heater
- Space for the greenhouse
Through our Research and Development department we will be able to adapt and incorporate the ecotechnologies into smaller spaces in order to make them available for apartments. For this purpose we are developing a small sized biodigester prototype that will be finished by December 2021.
FARMERS
Every farmer can be part of Resilience 2020 community, however, we prioritize according to the product needs from the restaurants that are partners of this project.
CONTRACTS
- For households: Resilience 2020 is the owner of the ecotechnics, therefore we give constant maintanance and provide Compost and Vegetable patch workshops so that households become "experts". In addition to that, each household must pay Resilience 2020, 85% of their gas saving thanks to the biogas and the solar heater while they save 15% and Resilience 2020 buys them their biol. With this finantial structure, we can benefit additional homes from the income perceived.
- For farmers: Once they decide to be part of Resilience 2020 community, they need to change all their products into organic ones.
SDGs
We impact on the 17 SDGs. According to the B- Assesment Tool, we impact in an 85% of the 17.
- Create scalable economic opportunities for local communities, including fishing, timber, tourism, and regenerative agriculture, that are aligned with thriving and biodiverse ecosystems
AWe consider Resilience 2020 as a community and our committment is with everyone who's involved. Therefore, we also provide verifying data because each subproduct from each ecotechnic is measured so that we can run statistic analysis and measure the carbon footprint, but we also provide an economic solution for households and farmers and ensure that the quality of the soil remains and that we don't affect pollinyzers with our organic products such as the biol.
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community.
In one year we have already install ecotechnics in Mexico City (Álvaro Obregón, Coyoacán and Izatapalapa) and Mexico State (Valle de Bravo). So far we install 4 greenhouses, 2 water harvesting, 4 compost systems, 4 biodigesters, 3 solar heaters. We have cultivated 32 species, our seeding bank consists of 388 gr of 12 different species, we have produced 1,103 m3 of compost, 122 kg of breeding foot, we have used 2.4 tons pf organic matter for the biodogesters, we have produced 6 m3 of biol, and 70 m3 of biogas.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
What's innovative is that we connect the ecotechnics with circular economy model and we created our own finantial model.

In moment we impact 15 people. Here is the relationship for year per project. We define a project as a minimum of 14 homes which allow us to benefit additional homes each year.
We do the B-Assesment Tool, we run lab studies such as quality of the biol, we have fisical data such as odor perception and we have the software provided by our partner McBride Sustainability.

We are 14 resilient fron different academic background and career experience focused on providing a solution to the current crisis in order to save our world as we know it.
To confront the multiple challenges that we are facing as humanity, a sensible response is to have a diverse team, so we built a working group made up of 14 resilient individuals willing to evolve based on their skills, experience and transdisciplinarity: 4 BSc in Biology (1 with PGDip in Sustainable Development, 1 with PhD in Biomedical Science, 1 with 4 years experience as entrepreneur and 1 with BA in Communication); 1 with BSc in Communication sciences and 4 years of experience as entrepreneur; 1 with BA in Architecture; 7 Engineers (1 specialized in Electrical and Project Engineering, 1 with BSc in Environmental Engineering specialized in Biodigesters, 1 with BEng in Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering and a MBA in Marketing and Green Projects specialized in Agronomy, 1 with MEng in Aerodynamics, 1 with BEng in Material Engineering and MEng in Materials Science, 1 with BEng in Mechanical Engineering and MEng in Mechanical Design Engineering, 1 with BEng in Mechatronics Engineering); and 1 Studying II. Our commitment is to create more eco-leaders. As Nelson Mandela said, one is a leader once you create more leaders. Therefore we provide households and farmers constant training in order for them to improve the quality of their life and develop leadership skills such as the EcoWarrior workshop.
