EcoKnowMe
Our modern world has its problems, and the current climate scene is undoubtedly one of the most alarming of them. But the major problem general people from our world, especially underdeveloped countries like Bangladesh, face is that little do we know about the currently frightening situation our selfish acts led to and lack any good platform for collective climate action. And that's what EcoKnowMe has to offer. EcoKnowMe is an online platform that has a tagline of "Aware.Connect.Resource".
Our core concept focuses on improving awareness among people with a live Map Analysis to demonstrate the current climate scene using Landsat data, connecting people and encouraging them to conduct collective climate actions by building a strong community and adequately resource them to boost Urban Agriculture.
Global adaptation of 'EcoKnowMe' will ensure the climate's sustainability by integrating global resources to make urban agriculture the savior of cities and thus mankind.
As the world population grows, we build more cities, resulting in less arable land. On the contrary, population growth forces agriculture to produce more. In countries like Bangladesh, this population issue led to ignorance towards nature and building unplanned cities prompting pollution in every possible sector straining climate issues. As we can't stop urbanization, we can't get arable lands back. The solution to this problem is to integrate agriculture with cities, which is known as urban agriculture.
Though the culture of urban agriculture is somewhat available in most regions of the world, people lose their interest in urban agriculture due to the lack of incentives, support, and resources. It results in infinite possibilities of urban agriculture unexplored. A one-stop solution could help keep these people on board and incline more people to this noble mission.
An appropriate demonstration of the current climate scene could incentivize people to do their part in saving nature. Lack of proper support results in a poor harvest, demotivating new gardeners. The hassle of resourcing required products is the result of the absence of a one-stop solution to urban agriculture.
Our solution is EcoKnowMe, a complete solution for the most challenging problem humankind has ever faced, climate change. It aims to impact communities to save nature and spark a new trend among people in countries like Bangladesh. It is the perfect fit to encourage people to take their steps by promoting urban agriculture and supporting forestation programs.
EcoKnowMe emerges with a modern approach to demonstrate the accurate picture of nature and popularize urban agriculture. We envision creating a global community to provide critical support to start a successful urban agri-project and helps people to connect with veteran agriculturists to tackle problems faced throughout the journey. We also intend to deliver rooftop gardening plans and periodical assessments of those gardens based on subscription for people.
EcoKnowMe’s marketplace is focused on an advanced approach towards resourcing people with products, and so it has two separate divisions, agricultural components and urban garden harvests. The former section includes products to materialize urban agricultural projects. The urban garden harvest section helps users sell their excessive yields to other people, ensuring food safety and fueling a new economic cycle.
Our solution serves specific customers like experienced horticulturists, enthusiastic gardeners, future gardeners to whom EcoKnowMe directs its efforts to ensure the best possible outcome for the environment. We also target everyone, who is willing to contribute to our cause of saving the environment by volunteerism. So, our services include people looking for urban agricultural plans and solutions and searching for a workforce, who can execute it aptly and can support further improvements. Fund providers are also our focus, as we need a financial basis. Community service providers are our prime requirement for providing adept agricultural solutions.

Our solution, EcoKnowMe, is a platform to ensure environmental sustainability. Incentivizing integration of urbanization and agriculture is our core concept. We aim to make this world a better place with the help of technology. And this will create a new ecosystem in the existing infrastructure and penetrate the culture of building resilient cities at the same time.
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model.
The reason behind selecting the prototype stage for our solution is - we have a fully functioning website that provides a visualized data of users location about recent deforestation to grow awareness, suggestions for users using their geological data to help them select the most efficient variety for their garden. Our web application has a problem database for searching across our problem database to resolve your agri-problems by connecting with a global community. As we are accepting agri-problems on our problem database and have a marketplace ready for retailing direct and suggestive eco-product recommendations.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
15.3 Billion trees are chopped down every year, but as we rhetorically call ourselves homo sapiens meaning wise men, we don’t realize that because we don’t actively cut trees, but we do it unconsciously through our deeds and needs in the present world of mass-urbanization. Our map analysis part gives voice to the trees by making you- the customer realize the damage we have already done by evincing the appalling condition of your local environment. Because we believe we can use human’s self-centered behavior about their local environment to our advantage and make them aware of our dying world by showing them geological data and comparative statistics of their local environment.
So, EcoKnowMe emerges as a modern one-stop solution to popularize vertical agriculture with accessible resources that are solely based on the gardener’s need. Environment analyzer will help select products and variety based on their geological properties. Our strong community provides the critical support to start and run a successful urban agro-project and helps people to connect with veteran agriculturists to tackle problems faced throughout the journey.
EcoKnowMe has two separate divisions, agricultural components and urban garden harvests. The former section includes products to materialize urban agricultural projects and the latter helps the users to sell their product to our huge community.
But lastly what makes us unique in our efforts to save the environment is by establishing a one-stop solution for agriculture through which we will be able to save mother nature.

Our solution doesn’t serve anyone yet. As we aim to grow EcoKnowMe at a large scale in major cities in Bangladesh primarily, we expect to affect at least 40% of the then total urban population of Bangladesh, which is roughly an estimated 32 million people.
We are currently enriching our problem database with modern agro-based problems that inexperienced urban gardeners face on a daily basis. Our global community is growing substantially, reaching new heights and bringing the knowledge of soil specialists, commercial horticulturalists and experienced farmers to common people like us. In the future, we plan to expand our collaboration with the global green industries in order to have a global impact on climate restoration. Impacting the market by utilizing integrating urban harvest and suggestive product retailing based on local environmental analysis, along with optimized plans based on individual accommodation for urban gardens, and so all of these will make our agro-economy stronger, as we want to introduce and expand our solution for protecting our ecosystem and redefining urban agriculture as a modern source of income. Only a one-stop solution could help keep these people on board and incline more people to this noble mission.

The experience that we have as citizens of Bangladesh plays a pivotal role in shaping our idea. Seeing geological deformations like trees being stripped from our forests and the cleansing of our cities of any existence of green and mortifying it with grey seems to be defined as urbanization. Having the knowledge of essential urban agriculture, we try to implement it in our system to improve our problem database. We acknowledge the fact that we need much funding and professional help to make our project a reality. However, we think we are well equipped and confident enough to make 'EcoKnowMe' - a success.
Here are our Co-founders:
Zawad, the Chief Executive Officer of 'EcoKnowMe', works as a coordinator, makes our projects efficient, and deals with problems we face to mitigate their impacts and save mother nature through a strong business concept.
Mahee, an 11-grade student, is the Chief Commercial Officer of EcoKnowMe. He handles our financial and commercial analysis with other members and works to increase our outreach, and models new ideas.
Tanjim, the Chief Technical Officer of our solution, is an 11-grade student who handles our technical aspects, provides, constructs, and implements all our technical features by coding in Python, Arduino IDE, and various open-source APIs.
The critical component of success for any project is the team that represents it. Our sole motivation to establish our project was our team. We gave deep thought to properly utilize our workforce and make sure that the leadership team embodies the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion. As we’re exploring our prototypes, we don’t necessarily require to hire now. Our leadership team consists of 3 people: Zawad, Mahee and Tanjim. Zawad is skilled in pitching solutions and looking for the proper solution required to mitigate any problem. Mahee takes care of the finance department implementing the skills he has to deal with finances by dealing with internal and external financial agreements. Tanjim, a skilled tech-geek, works as the tech guy of EcoKnowMe. He is the main man behind the building, testing and deploying of the core EcoKnowMe platform. We believe our team is diverse and everyone in our leadership team is unique. Our team works together to tackle all problems EcoKnowMe faces.

As MIT Solve is a proper ecosystem for tech-based social innovations, we believe it matches the key interests of EcoKnowMe. We intend to join the enriched Solve community and utilize the resources to have an impact in saving nature, even in countries like Bangladesh, where the environmental issues are mostly overlooked. We believe EcoKnowMe could bring a change in this typical mindset and ignite the trend of being with nature among the youth with the help of MIT Solve. And we hope Solve could largely help us grow our potentialities and influence the life of millions in tackling probably the largest challenge humanity have ever faced.
- Business model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
Though we've proposed a business model, we are exploring more efficient business models. We seek help from the experienced Solve community to help us set the most efficient business model.
EcoKnowMe is at its very primary stage. The finances of EcoKnowMe hasn't reached the point where it could start generating revenue. To promote this initiative, we need strong financial support from the global community to start an environmental revolution in an overpopulated country like Bangladesh. We seek help from Solve in presenting our core idea more effectively.
As we aim to work with people, we believe we need a strong public relations support from the Solve community. We intend to learn better strategies to connect properly with the targeted community.
The success of EcoKnowMe largely depends on the proper use of the data we collect. We aim to improve EcoKnowMe using our collected data in the upcoming days. There wouldn't be any other community as perfect as Solve to help us monitor and evaluate the steps we take in the upcoming days.
The core concept of EcoKnowMe largely depends on the proper utilization of technology. As the core of EcoKnowMe runs on technology, we need the utmost utilization of technology. We need proper supervision to establish our proposed system. We seek help from the Solve community in this regard.
We would like to partner with tech experts to help us to enhance our tech-based features and set goals to have broader impacts. We believe there are lots of fields we could work in EcoKnowMe. Our business model can have new dimensions to have broader impacts. We would also like to partner with financial supporters to accelerate our noble mission. As an example, we could partner with nonprofits organizations like Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. We could also work with the highly capable and experienced teams at MIT to turn this movement into reality.
