Global disposable plastic tax!
Plastic pollution out of control!
A serious problem for our home planet Earth, and no solution yet in sight! This is why we suggest the creation of a global tax to help curb the excessive consumption of single use plastics, with all the proceeds directed to recycling. Global disposable plastic tax! The United Nations should create a global plastic tax, in order to reduce the excessive use that is severely damaging our nature.
These funds would cover the expensive plastic recycling costs, at global level, and would also promote the use of alternative ecologic packaging.
This problem is affecting the entire Earth populated surface and the oceans.
The amount of plastic being discarded worldwide is still growing completely out of control. Some governments are establishing bans on its use, but as this problem is running on a global level the practical effects of these local bans is small. This is why a global level action is a necessity.
The taxation of single-use plastic should reduce its use, and the funds obtained (other funds are welcome too) would be exclusively applied to implement the expensive plastic litter cleaning and recycling, at global level, and would also promote the use of alternative ecologic packagings.
Efficient industrial recycling will be available worldwide at local levels, with a regular flow of plastic litter to be processed.
Barriers will be created before the plastic litter reach the rivers, in a large-scale collection process too.
Other cleaning systems, if proven efficient, will also be applied to remove large quantities of plastic from everywhere, including oceans, rivers, lakes and even landfills.
As long as the recycling chains are funded and improved, all the communities involved will benefit.
One immediate effect of this global tax will be the increase in the value of the plastic litter, encouraging local low-income populations to help collect and appropriately direct it to recycling.
Political action will be taken by the United Nations directing local governments to implement such collection and appropriate recycling destination. This step will avoid plastic being discarded into landfills or in the ocean.
- Provide scalable and verifiable monitoring and data collection to track ecosystem conditions, such as biodiversity, carbon stocks, or productivity.
Minimizing the plastic footprint and optimizing recycling processes, with throughout involvement of goverments and communities.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.
This project needs and would greatly benefit fom the SOLVE - MIT endorsement, as it needs global coverage.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful

1 current number of people I am serving: 0
2 the number to be served in one year: ?
3 the number to be served in 5 years: 8 billion, the entire human population.
The best indicator would be the number of decision takers involved to support the project, as the goal is to clean the planet.
- Hybrid of for-profit and nonprofit
Once approved and with endorsement of the MIT, a staff of influencers will approach and involve key decision takers in the UN and on the main governments of the world.
We could begin with 10 part-time staffers, evolving to three to five full-time staffers when the project reaches the UN departments.
Graduated in Mechanical Engineering, I worked for 40 years in a variety of environments. Also, as a longtime surfer and nature lover, I had the opportunity to travel to many different places. Born and resident in one of the largest cities in the workd, I could clearly verify the absense of a standard and effective way to solve the worldwide plastic pollution problem.
The team shall be formed in a way to gain access, influence and involve the key decision takers of the world, in the main goverments and in the UN.
- Government (B2G)
I am proposing a solution tho the Platic Pollution problem of the Earth.
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development, etc.)
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Public Relations (e.g. branding/marketing strategy, social and global media)
Funding for a 10 person staff is needed initially.
Our ideal partners would be Google, Facebook, large regular media outlets AND their main advertisers.

Most of today's plastic pollution end up in the ocean, severely distubing the fishing industry. Minimizing plastic ocean pollution will greatly benefit the fishing industry.

Removing plastic from the environment is a great way to minimize our carbon footprint.
All monitoring will be real time registered and made available to supporters, governments and decision takers.
