IDESAM - Cidades Florestais
This project was created to assist and generate financial and resource control for small producers in Amazon's countryside cities, however it can be expanded to any region willing to work with forest products in a legal and sustainable way.
The project aims to generate income and control for these small producers, always striving for the sustainability of the exploited area. The entire ecosystem of the project is based on a web and mobile applications, where the producer, technician and the responsible engineers consult and supply the data collected in the field.
The project is already in operation and through it we have already been able to help communities to sell more than 2 million reais in forest products in a 100% legal and sustainable manner directly impacting the quality of life of several families served by the projects.
Our intention is to maintain this existing service and improve our platform and application.
Many small producers do not see the benefit of working sustainably in the exploitation of forest products. They are often unable to properly price their products to the point of having losses and going illegally.
In this project, we need helping small producers in the best way to explore and sell their products profitably, adding value to the product and thus improving their life's quality.
The application that is used by the producer in the field collects the data offline and once the
producer has access to the internet, the data can be transferred to the web platform.
The producer receives all the training and technical support to issue the necessary documentation. Also, the producer receives training on the best practices, operational safety, training on machines and the application.
In addition, the IDESAM team captures and makes contact with potential buyers to offer them the entire production of this producer.
Our target audience is the families of small producers and associations in the countryside cities of Amazonas. However the project can be extended to other states.
These families live in a lack of resources, in often precarious conditions. In search of income, they exploit the forest irregularly and deliver forest products to middlemen who trade illegally.
The project delivers all the necessary technical support to guarantee the legality of the explored area. Delivering follow-up and technical training, knowledge exchange and, above all, life improvement through increased income from the sustainable extraction of forest products.
Today we already have managed to sell more than 2 million reais in oil, which directly benefits all communities involved in the project. In this project, we were able to follow the entire production chain until we reach the buyer. Previous projects only worked in specific parts of the production chain, which caused the process to stop because the producers did not have technical monitoring.
- Create scalable economic opportunities for local communities, including fishing, timber, tourism, and regenerative agriculture, that are aligned with thriving and biodiverse ecosystems
Through this project, we were able to sustainably strengthen the exploration of the forest, adding value to the exploited product and considerably improving the quality of life of the families in the communities served by the project.
- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model rolled out in one or, ideally, several communities, which is poised for further growth.
Today the project already serves 7 communities, but it is necessary to continue improving the web platform and mobile application to ensure product traceability.
