Automatable Ecosystem of Necessities
1. Problem: I am committed to solving all 17 Global Goals by designing and mastering human-specific ecosystems. Achieving them on a small, scalable template makes the most sense. The smallest basic unit of society is the family.
2. Solution: A house and a housing standard that reliably and safely guarantees self-production of abundant basic necessities for its family to thrive (food, medicine, heat, plant food, clean energy, clothing, furniture, cutlery, tools, cleaning products, construction materials, soaps, etc.).
3. Impact of global scaling: Easy access to healthy basic necessities reduces the worst forms of: Stress, illness (including easy self-isolation during pandemics), poverty, pollution, etc. The guarantee of easy access to thrival necessities for everyone, is by far, the most effective deterrent to crimes, wars and most other forms of conflicts.
The specific problem within the challenge that I am trying to solve is to help communities sustainably protect, manage, and restore their local ecosystems. The problem is our distributed production and waste streams are inefficient and environmentally destructive. The scale of the problem here in the Ottawa-Gatineau region is an increasing amount of natural habitat destruction as both cities grow. The global situation is even worse as growing overpopulation decimates more and more natural habitats to create these wasteful support systems.
The AEON House integrates municipal housing infrastructure systems like; clean power production, pollution control, food production, water works and sewage treatment; making the external and costly versions unnecessary and obsolete. The greenhouse produces food, air, cleaning products, soaps and medicine. The compost reactor processes paper, kitchen, garden and human waste to produce:
- Heat which can be combined with a heat pump for all year-round HVAC needs for the combined structure
- Humus, fertilizer and other plant foods
- Clean hydrogen for the remaining energy needs of the combined structure and the vehicles
- Flash graphene - one of the lightest, strongest, thinnest, best heat- and electricity- conducting materials ever discovered!
The 3D graphene printer combines the flash graphene with different plants to form composites, to produce all other essentials, like clothing, furniture, cutlery, tools, water filters, solar panels, wind turbines, construction materials (safe for all environments, including underwater and even outer space), electric conductors and insulators, electronic parts, etc.
Families. Elevate the poorest to middle class lifestyles, regardless of their social or economic situations. Let's keep the reversed priorities that we adopted during the pandemic: People first, economy second. Allow individuals to find their find all of their passions and to turn those into eco-responsible careers with the Individual Natural Strengths & Talents Exploration, Application and Development (INSTEAD) educational program. This will further reduce work-related stress and increase work-related satisfaction and enthusiasm.
- Aggregate local projects to enable access to financial capital for ecosystem services such as natural hazard mitigation, water quality, and carbon storage.
Our inefficient production and waste streams cause unnecessary inefficiencies in ecosystem services such as natural hazard mitigation, water quality, and carbon storage. The AEON House is currently a mix of proven technologies and techniques, from around the world, which only need to be combined in a new way. It aggregates international projects into an all-in-one solution for the ecosystem services mentioned above and much more.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.
More resources and expertise needed to proceed.
- A new application of an existing technology
It reduces the domed city and its interrelated systems down to a simpler and more manageable scale to design, build, test, prove and master. Once perfected, we can use this foundation upon which to model all other products and services in a truly eco-responsible way. How could it be catalytic? Mastering closed or closable ecosystems that can easily be scaled up, creates endless opportunities for human and economic expansion into vast and previously inaccessible areas. Building the prototype, as a first step, is within easy reach of our current economical and technological capabilities.
