Women and Children empowerment

The problem is about women and children being missed out, ignored, neglected and suffering in silence. The Solution would be to step in to empowered them to overcome the dilemma of what they are through experiencing that in silence. This solution of giving women the courage and stamina to step-up and move would be a big cultural break-through for these women. Also when women are happy and enjoying life, definitely children are and parcel of that.

It is believed that this solution when started, it can swoop all the negativity and undesirable concern and approach of menfolk to the women.

Women are suffering in silence and consider themselves as not important to the change and development of the community. When women suffered, children will be automatically be in it. It has come to the attention of the department of community development in Papua New Guinea (PNG) that womenfolk's welfare and empowerment has chain reaction to other social issues. If women are not given this chance and opportunity, their suffering in silence may go beyond to cause other serious encounter. 

It can is known that; around 2000 -2300 of such women are experiencing such in various communities in Papua New Guinea.

Solution for this program will involve visitation to number of communities capture, have a consultation with the women and roll-out what important sustainable project or program which women would need to amplify their status and part in the community.

Process and technology will vary depending on their need and type of activities they would prefer. If a group of women prefer a solar hut drier for preparing harvested cocoa seed then this materials and equipment must be available. If there are other woman's group in need of standard household equipment for adult reading and learning then may it be as the request or needs. Other may request for sewing machine as part of their need.

There is a community which I knew in need of construction of hydro-electricity for supporting women folk in their daily activities and survival. Since the community has a flowing rivers and creeks, the idea of having a model standard hydro-electricity was raise. There is another group  in need of a standard technology inbuilt all in one community hall building for every activities.

Once again whatever this will all be women's interest, wish and request. 

Women need social and educational empowerment through the environmental aspects as sustenance. It is a sad scenario when women are deprived of any such opportunity to see change and progress in their community.

Target population for this program of Women and Children empowerment  Solution will be genuine women who have been struggling for survival yet continue to be strong and survive in their communities.

To understand women's need I would have to visit them, have a consultation with them and do general talk and question thing where I can easily understand their need.

The problem stands as it is, women are not considered or become part of change and development. Solution will involve  looking at that issues of women being neglected and amplify or appraise them into other sustainable project and programs. The Solution will mainly focus on women team and as much as possible women only. However, in a community there are people and people are not only women but others like men, youths and kids as well. In that instance, challenge might erupt by other members of the community. Challenge of program, projects and and ownership can be captured there.

Pilot was the stage of development which was selected. This program will be a new kind and breaking a cultural barrier into womenfolk. Women in few Local Level government in Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea will involve in this program service. Morobe province is one of the big province in the country of Papua New Guinea and for this Solution to be rolled out there. Basically, number of women will be around 200 -300.

For the start, this solution will be sort of intermediary innovative. As solution begin to pick its momentum and roll at its peak, more innovative approach can and will be taken on board. Women as receiver of the service from this solution can be introduced to few new technological innovation and livelihood-sustenance  application and equipment.

As it is a prototype development project solution to be roll-out, the number of the people (women and children) who will be served will be provided in its exact estimation possibly. The Solution project will be rolled out in Morobe Province of Papua New Guinea where there are 36 known resilient Ecosystems communities.  In each community, there are 50-55 women who are categorized and will be as client for this Solution program. Only women number will be brought forward excluding children as automatically children will be part of women empowerment. Looking at that given information; it will be around 1, 980 (36 x 55) women directly and meaningfully affected in one year. For next five years the number will increase to 39 600 women (1 980 x 20).

Women are already aware and willing to be partner in change. There are number of women community organizations at community level which already organizing themselves but just because of men stance and lack of support and assistance, those women community organization could not venture out. There are other women community requesting me for any program of assistance where there will be a solution to their situation. As seeing this and being part of on-ground with such women community group. I can say that this is a clear indication that solution of this program 'Women and children empowerment' will definitely make a great impact lifetime change. It is now or never is the statement that I want to delve with. 

However, SOLVE solution program comes in a time where there  is a need for it. With that the solution program of 'Women and children empowerment' will be the approach.

The idea is there for registering an organization but since involving with other Community Based Organizations; the thought was kind of put aside for some time.  However, people available, 5 full-time staffs (3 women and 2 men), 2 part -time staff ( a male and a female) and four contractors.

Team members intact shows how desirable the team is towards problem and its solution. Basically, few team members are profession serving in few public and private sectors and are well versed to the situation and they are already thinking and looking around for any opportunities to launch out to the communities. Other few members of the team are genuine community member who are part of the community meaning right now they are staying in the community. In addition, those team members working in either public or private sectors are also part of the community. But they are away working. Too, one or two team member is/are student youths in tertiary institutions.

Working and experiencing lives and seeing problem have been part of the team members who are serving public and private sectors. For example, I once employed as a teacher in one of the rural high school in Morobe Province. In that school, there is no telecommunication network and no other genuine service to impact people living. I used to spend my free-time with the locals and women community a lot. Awareness, advocacy and other information, I would involve with to address the community. Another team member is Jack Tiwasong, who is an electrician by profession. Many times, some women would approach her requesting for Solar panel or otherwise any possibility of setting micro-hydro electricity using flowing streams in the community. Mercy Genombing is another female team member who participates effectively with women in the communities.

The approach to build a diverse, equitable and inclusive leadership team is because of the program Solution itself 'Women and children empowerment'. It will be best when team leadership and team members uphold and honor the value of their action. Since the Solution is all about Women and children empowerment, most team members and decision making personnel are women. For instance, Mercy Genombing is taking a lead already in a community. She is one of a strong lady.  She wants to help other ignorant suffering ladies and women in every community.

Solve or Become a Solver is a timely concept that will contribute to another dimension of change for women in rural local resilient community of ecosystems. Since it is a timely program where there is a genuine need to solve this prolonged ongoing problem, I have applied to take on board the solution with Solve or become a Solver.

Hence, the barriers which I would like Solve to help me overcome is finance, technical and equipment assistance.

Above chosen areas are needed area for support. First thing first, financial  capacity will be first of all for others. The need for the support for finance is very needed.  This will be followed by technology, product service, business model and Public relations. 

Without capital, there won't be other engagement and start-off of the program roll-out. Funds are needed to get few things set and then pave the way forward for the rest.

With technology comes advancement and easier moves. product service is another needed areas which is in all aspects and play important roles. Product service is also part of needed areas to get through to the genuine client or customer,

Partners I would like to partner with must be organization, agencies or companies which can assist my Solution program effectively. Otherwise whatever propel which is not available I would need MIT faculty or solve members.

Simply my Solver Solution program underpins the area that stated as one requirement under GM prize. Upon that stated area, I am perceived that somehow I am qualified for the prize. I and the team will used the prize genuinely to accomplish and advanced our solution.  

The Solution program of 'Women and children empowerment' is purely women lead or women fronted program. The program is in line with Innovation for Women Prize objectives or goals. Hence, our team is qualified for the prize.

One or two program of women to empower them may involve sustainable  clean ocean and rivers. In such our team would need funds to help along that. Too, Morobe province in Papua New Guinea is a province that has number of factories and the funds can be utilize to assess whether waste are dump into the seawater or no. As that and through such, I and my team are qualified for the Minderoo Prize.

Definitely we are qualified for this prize as our solution program is service focusing on making a world of work better for the people.

Technology is one component in the Solution program of 'Empowering women and children'. The Al for Humanity Prize is such to advance our solution. Our team needs boost for such and we are automatically qualified for that.

Our team is qualified for this prize as few of our activities will cling to innovative technology and sustainable development for sustainable world. We will use the prize to equip others and involve in other sustainable activities or areas in other communities.
