Regen Farmer
- Agroforestry has a huge potential to increase food security, sequester carbon in trees and biomass, improve watersheds, increase farm enterprise profits and make farms more resilient to a changing climate. Many farmers are reluctant to adopt agroforestry since it is currently associated with uncertainty and risk, which they cannot afford, especially if they already have existing debt.
- Regen Farmer is developing digital tools to take the guesswork out of agroforestry project development. We utilize advances within data analysis and ecological modelling to provide digital tools to help farmers plan profitable and sustainable agroforestry systems. We couple our solution with regenerative financing instruments and DeFi solutions to help finance the farmers agroforestry projects. This both reduce the technical uncertainty in projects and the financial risk for farmers.
- Since we use digital tools and DeFi solutions, we can quickly scale our solutions for the benefit of farmers and communities.
Despite huge potential for agroforestry to solve many of the environmental challenges faced, especially in the food and fiber sector, adoption remains relative low amongst farmers. Additionally, most initiatives to encourage agroforestry are driven by global traders, who might not always have the best interest of farmers and communities.
We are developing a digital platform that combines agroforestry digital twin system planning, ecological agroforestry system modelling for financial analysis and a business model centered around regenerative financing instruments to enable regional transition of agroforestry by farmers facilitated through local financial support and community engagement.
Our main target group is farmers and communities around the world. For most farmers agroforestry are associated with high risk and uncertainty. Many farmers see trees and shrubs as something that's in the way for their main cash crop. Through data driven financial modelling rooted in ecological modelling and our regenerative financing business model we dramatically reduce the uncertainty and risk for the farms. Our main focus is on assisting farmers and rural economies to transition to a regenerative economy and we believe that agroforestry is at the center of this. In addition to working with farmers and the agroforestry systems themselves we also support financing for the wider ecosystem, such as setting up tree nurseries for underutilized tree species and co-op processing facilities.
- Create scalable economic opportunities for local communities, including fishing, timber, tourism, and regenerative agriculture, that are aligned with thriving and biodiverse ecosystems
All of our work is focused on the farmer and the local communities, which means we are disrupting traditional global supply chains and multinational traders, who often have good intentions in helping farmers transition to agroforestry, but they also have their own economic incentive to not give the farmer to much power. We are actively working to counter neo-colonialism and build robust local supply chains with a heavy focus on the local community and sovereignty of indigenous peoples.
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community.
We have been working on our digital tools for agroforestry project development and management for around ½ months now and have been providing it as a SaaS for farmers, agricultural consultants and traders. But it quickly became aware that this model lacked a social aspect which is why we are not working on a new business model that works with regenerative financing of agroforestry project development supported by local communities. We are currently doing a pilot with 5 farms here in Denmark of this new business model.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
Our solution is A. Highly scalable since it based on our digital technology and B. reduces uncertainty and risk for the farmers through our project commission financing business model.

Currently on full-time founder
Some contractors and consultants used on a project basis
Have already developed the digital platform that will be used to scale the solutions. Currently focused on A. validating the new regenerative financing business model and B. Further developing ecological and financial models to improve accuracy of financial analysis.
Have been following the work of Zebras Unity community for a long time. With 1 full-time it's hard to talk inclusion in practice, but values are there.
- Organizations (B2B)
I think my biggest challenges is that I'm a solo-founder. There is only so much one can do alone and I'm really looking for assistance.
- Human Capital (e.g. sourcing talent, board development, etc.)
- Business model (e.g. product-market fit, strategy & development)
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. expanding client base)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
Could use support for finding best talent and building capacity to both improve technology and business model further.
