MSI Farms Limited- Pastured Poultry
Over 75% of Earth's land area has been degraded through overgrazing, tilling, erosion and application of chemicals on it, this makes the land unbearable for farming, wildlife and the entire ecosystems. Our solution is to regenerate and sustain the land and bring back wildlife that have gone into extinction through pastured poultry farming practices, which involves raising birds outdoor on pastures in a bottomless mobile chicken pen with daily rotations to new pasture. Birds drops their manure directly in soil helping build, fertilize and regenerate it. There is no application of insecticides or herbicides, Therefore, biodiversity of the environment is sustained.
Over 75% of Earth's land area has been degraded and 35% fish stocks over harvested. Overgrazing, tilling, erosion and application of chemicals, such as herbicides, insecticides and inorganic fertilizer, on land cause it unsuitable for farming, wildlife and the entire ecosystems. As such, over 65% of smallholder farmers, who produces about 90% of food grown in Nigeria have no access to fertile land.
Pastured Poultry is raising birds outdoor in a mobile Pen with daily moves to new pasture. Birds have constant access to fresh air, sunlight, grasses insects, plant seeds, legumes ,scratching dirt, exercise and doing things that make them real birds. In return, they deposit manure directly on land helping regenerate, build and fertilize it. Non application of chemical such as herbicides, insecticides and inorganic fertilizer enables the land regenerate naturally, bring back wildlife and sustain ecosystems at large.
Our solution serves farmers by regenerating, rebuilding and sustaining land through manure being directly deposited on it by our birds; it creates employments for the local communities; it also sustain ecosystems of the environment; and produces safe, healthy, and nutritious food for human.
- Create scalable economic opportunities for local communities, including fishing, timber, tourism, and regenerative agriculture, that are aligned with thriving and biodiverse ecosystems
Raising birds on land in a mobile Pen with daily moves, regenerate the degraded land through manure being directly deposited by the birds. In return, land produces grasses, insects, plant seeds, legumes for birds as food; and ultimately safe and nutritious food for human. The process continues thereby sustaining the biodiverse ecosystems that benefits human, wildlife and land.
