Logic Roots
Math is better when played together. Social math games for kids in kindergarten to Grade 5.
THE PROBLEM
Learning, especially math, is a motivation problem. Kids do not have enough motivation to go to their room and study math. But we are all throwing content solutions to solve this problem - better worksheets, more videos and apps. When things do not work, we start pushing and forcing kids. They get more alienated. They start hating numbers and fearing math time. Millions of kids around the world, especially girls, grow up hating math or thinking it is beyond their capability.
THE SOLUTION
Motivation does not come from products. It comes from people. When people talk, share stories, laugh, it builds motivation. Think about work-out. You have access to gym, shoes and also have time. But most people fail to work out. But if friends join them, work out is fun.
That is why we make Social Math Games. Instead of being a boring chore, we are converting math to a social experience. Kids get to see their parents, teachers and peers playing and laughing. They discover the joy of numbers. Not only do they get 20 times more math practice and learn at their own pace, but they also learn to love math.
We make math board games. We have invented 13 math board games so far, each addressing a specific skill set and age group. With time, we are getting better at balancing game-play and math. We never invent single person game play.
IMPACT
Kids realize math is not something to be afraid of. It is a game that generates laughter and is associated with good times. More kids can confidently access the world of numbers and technology.
- Supportive ecosystems for educators
- Personalized teaching, especially in disadvantaged communities
Social Math Games by Logic Roots is solving one of the hardest problem in learning - creating motivation to learn. Your own social group - parents, teachers and friends - motivate you to learn. This is the most effective form of motivation and works better than midday meals, fancy tablets and apps.
We use well designed math games and the power social circles to build interest in math.
For us, core technology is the process of game design. How to do we design the games that generate more math practice of specific skills and at the same time, help kids fall in love with numbers.
At a secondary level, we are the only company globally to connect board games with Alexa (and other voice based AI devices). Not only can Alexa tell you the rules of our games but also play with you and correct you. So in absence of a teacher, it helps you practice better.
Over next 12 months, we have two goals
1. Reach more parents and teachers (from 25000 in 2017 to 60000 in 2018)
2. Build 3 more math games (place value systems, fractions and equations)
Over the next 5 years, we want to establish a whole new category of toys called SOCIAL MATH GAMES. For us, awareness means
- More companies (other than Logic Roots) are building social math games. Digital and physical.
- More educators to start advocating the use of social game boost learning outcome
- More outcome studies to scientifically prove the impact of social math games
When we achieve this, we will reach more teachers and more governments. It will help pull out more kids from the fear zone and get them in to the love zone for math.

So far, we were limited to selling on Amazon. This year, we have opened 4 more distribution channels as described above.
This year, we plan to reach 60,000 more kids. We aim to cross 500,000 in 3 years. A chunk of this population will be in US, UK, India, Canada and parts of western Europe where we are building distribution.

We have always been unit economics positive.
SOLVE can offer us scale and visibility. We will carry more credibility when we are working with educators (be it parents or teachers). This will help us reach more kids and influence more educators about the power of games in learning.
The biggest challenge for us is the traditional thought that separates play and study. We believe in the power of social play to generate learning outcome. But most parents and teachers take game based learning casually and thus do not invest enough time and energy. They continue to work with black board teaching.
Partnering with SOLVE and other organization will be first step in building trust and influencing teachers.
