ARTIFICIAL PHOTOSYTHETIC DEVICE
Human activities are changing Earth's natural greenhouse effect. To stop climate change, we need to stop the amount of greenhouse gases, like carbon dioxide, from increasing. There are two main ways to stop the amount of greenhouse gases from increasing: we can stop adding them to the air and we can increase the Earth’s ability to pull them out of the air.
Carbon removal can take numerous forms, from new technologies to land management practices.
Each carbon removal approach offers promise and challenges but capturing and storing carbon dioxide already in the air must be part of our climate change strategy around the world to avoid dangerous levels of global warming.
We are honored that by designing and making an artificial photosynthetic device and by taking advantage of the most advanced technology in the world, we will be able to reduce excess carbon dioxide in atmosphere to a minimum.
What specific problem are you solving?
1-Negative impacts of global warming include reduced crop quantity and quality due to the reduced growth period following high levels of temperature rise; reduced sugar content, bad coloration, and reduced storage stability in fruits; increase of weeds, blights, and harmful insects in agricultural crops.
2-New research finds that an anticipated rise in carbon dioxide concentrations in our indoor living and working spaces by the year 2100 could lead to impaired human cognition.
3-The ocean absorbs most of the excess heat from greenhouse gas emissions, leading to rising ocean temperatures. Increasing ocean temperatures affect marine species and ecosystems. Rising temperatures cause coral bleaching and the loss of breeding grounds for marine fishes and mammals.
4-Hot temperatures increase the ozone concentration, which can damage people's lung tissue and cause complications for asthma patients and those with lung diseases. Increased global warming can also pose a threat to national security, affecting food security, which, in turn, can lead to resource conflicts.
5-To keep the planet’s temperatures from rising beyond dangerous thresholds.
Artificial photosynthesis is a chemical process that bio mimics the natural process of photosynthesis to convert sunlight, water and carbon dioxide into glucose and oxygen. A developed a standalone photosynthetic device can converts sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water into a carbon-neutral fuel, without requiring any additional components or electricity. This technology is more robust and produces clean fuel that is easier to store and shows potential for producing fuel products at scale.
The target population of this project is all the people of the world because the effects of increased greenhouse gases is a global problem
- Aggregate local projects to enable access to financial capital for ecosystem services such as natural hazard mitigation, water quality, and carbon storage.
The big question is whether these approaches can deliver carbon removal at the scale needed in the coming decades.
