The Inventorium
An online curriculum to enable teachers/educators to facilitate meaningful learning experiences for teenagers to create and shape their futures.
National education systems grind down teachers and educators in bureaucratic processes, silo based content, and assessment regimes that hinder students progression into developing as employable, capable citizens who participate actively in a democratic world. The Inventorium is a new education system that is facilitated through an online curriculum that enables teachers to help students learn through engagement in inquiry led, real world projects that matter to the students, bringing about social change, and enabling them to develop the 21st century work skills required for the future of work. By facilitating The Inventorium, teachers will not only be liberated to teach through the use of technology, but students will be liberated to learn in a manner that will both prepare them for and shape their future.
- Educators fostering 21st century skills
- Personalized teaching, especially in disadvantaged communities
We have reprogrammed Moodle LMS to be non-linear, lightly gamified, and to assign teachers to students rather than to subjects. This fundamentally changes the way in which technology supports education provisions. It also allows users to create their own mix and match pathways to specified outcomes, allowing for a truly personalised learning journey within a single system. Finally the whole platform is hardware agnostic so works on the mobile phone, tablet, laptop or PC.
The non-linear programming is the key to enabling educators and teachers to break away from the technology driving them, to them driving the technology. It also enables a truly personalised learning experience with each student able to create and follow their own pathway. This flexibility in education technology is not available elsewhere and is what allows The Inventorium to be the foundation of a whole new education system rather than a program on its own.
Pilot test with up to 50 teachers/educators and 1000 students.
Once the pilots are completed and the system has been checked in its operation across multiple sites, it can effectively scale to be delivered any where to any number of students, by any number of educators. We would seek to have it used in at least 5 countries within the next 3-5 years.

Anyone can get a login from going to https://inventorium.solutions. Teachers and educators need to contact us to help them set up as a teacher, and also to enrol them in the staff development element that is specifically designed to help them understand how to best use the curriculum and system.
Our beta test product was utilised in one school and by an additional 30 individual students. This was then reworked into the current edition which is currently being implement in two school test sites.
Around 1000 students and 50 teachers/educators will have logins and be operational in the system, and the teacher/educators will be supported with staff development options. The affect we expect to see is a fall in drop out rates of disengaged teenagers and an increase in educational outcomes for this group. In addition we expect to see teachers/educators developing their skills in utilising the technology and contributing to the co-creation of the next iteration and new areas of curriculum. The design of the system and curriculum directly addresses the causes of school disengagement reported in a plethora of research.

We have years of experience in education at all levels, and are particularly skilled at curriculum design. We are good communicators and have immense passion for this project. Finally we are excellent researchers and hence are rigorous and disciplined about collecting and responding to data and feedback.
We generate revenue from individual membership sales to the curriculum (with or without the support of a teacher), or we generate revenue from licensing an instance of the curriculum to a school or education provider as a white label provision for them to personalise to their own context. In addition there could be a revenue stream in teacher/educator development but this is currently offered for free. We have set our prices low to encourage maximum use, and also offer scholarships if people are not able to pay.
We are hoping the Solve community can spread the word to increase the usage of the system and help with testing and improving it.
Breaking through the bureacratic processes to get Schools to buy is proving a major barrier as it would appear that nobody is accountable for the problem of a failing system. The Solve community are already being accountable for addressing this so some advocacy, testing sites and introductions to leading players who will push boundaries is what we need most.
