Learnine Schools
With the increase in digital literacy and technological advancement, there is a pressing need for the improvement of the educational system in Nigeria. In 2020 with the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent closure of schools and dismissal of teaching staff due to insufficient funds, the need for online access to educational material became more apparent as a lot of students were at home with no access to learning resources. Learning schools offers an E-learning platform to make educational material available to school age students at all levels. Learnine allows other schools to manage their academic activities online, and for freelance instructors to create and market their own content. The Learnine schools website is available to users all over the world. The resources follow a TARL (teaching at the right level approach) that allows students to learn based on their capacity and pace, rather than their age.
Due to the covid19 pandemic, the rate of infection spread and rising death tolls, schools had to be shut down for a couple of months as a safety precaution.
School age children were left at home without an avenue to continue their learning. In a research carried out by Adelakun(2020), as of April 21, 2020, approximately 1.7 billion learners had been affected.
Many schools witnessed a steady decline in income with the closure of schools. As students were not in school, school fees were not paid and most developing private schools in Nigeria suffered quite a loss. Due to the loss of income by schools, most schools could not afford to pay their staff leading to the laying off teachers.
Learnine schools aims to provide a platform where these students can access learning materials anywhere in the world for virtual learning and to provide schools with a platform to manage their academic activities, We aim to provide a single platform where students can access E-learning content from any school, and to allow freelance instructors create and market their own content.
Learnine schools leverages the use of technology to allow students access learning resources from their home.
Schools can manage their operations and reach their students anywhere and anytime through the platform, enabling a continuation of their academic activities.
Teachers and expert instructors who lost their jobs because of the lockdown and closure of schools would be trained to create and market online content as freelance teachers togenerate additional income.
Our innovation is implemented through our website https://learnineschools.com : which is the main page for Learnine Schools, with information about the school, courses for preschool and primary school, contact information and membership registration links for individual students interested in signing up for individual courses and potential freelance tutors interested in creating their own content.
Registration of students with participating schools can be done via https://school.learnineschools... which is the sub-domain, where students can enrol with any of the schools within Learnine Schools' network of participating schools.
Learnine schools also has a mobile application, that provides additional features including school management services for the network of schools and access to eLearning content at the fingertips of registered students.
The educational market in Nigeria is a growing market. The target market focuses on the over 40 million students in the educational system in Nigeria as well as students from other countries : School age students of all ages, in primary, secondary or tertiary education levels would benefit from the learning content on the platform (There are about 2 million students in universities in Nigeria, over 4 million senior secondary students, over 6 million junior secondary students, over 25 million primary school students and over 2 million students in the pre primary school system) only a limited number of these students attend schools that have resources to facilitate distance learning.
There are over 15,000 private secondary schools in Nigeria and 170 universities (43 federal, 48 state, 79 private). Learnine schools aim to provide a single platform where students can access E-learning content from any school.
Freelance teachers who are willing can create learning content and tutor to generate additional income.
- Increase the engagement of learners in remote, hybrid, and physical environments, including strategies and tools for parental support, peer interaction, and guided independent work.
Learnine Schools created a solution to the problem of distance education and physical education barriers, through the establishment of an E-learning platform to make education accessible to school age children at a subsidized cost.
Learnine helps to facilitate distance learning and create a virtual environment that mimics the physical classroom where teachers and students can interact.
School closure and the inability of children continuing their learning for months, created a need for a virtual learning platform for continued learning. The Learnine E-learning platform leverages the use of technology to enable them to students’ learn from home.

We are focused on getting at least 100,000 students to register on our platform, within the first 5 years.
We began our pilot with 10 students in quarter 1 of 2021, we plan to grow that to 100 students by end of the 2021 session, and scale up year each year (1,000 students in 2022, 5,000 in 2023, 50,000 by 2024 and 100,000 by 2025).
We also want to focus on developing premium content to include secondary and tertiary school content as well as animated and interactive video lectures for the younger children (below 12 years).
We will pilot with 2 schools in the first quarter of 2021, increasing to 20 schools by end 2021, with plans to grow our network of schools to over 1,000 in the first 2 to 3 years and 10,000 schools in 5 years. We intend to look out for schools that are struggling with managing their operations and/or those who do not have E- learning services and convince them to register with us.
Our course pricing is and will continue to be affordable based on market research but we plan to keep an eye on the competition as well as customer feedback in order to make adjustments where necessary.
