During the Covid 19, in Afghanistan there is lock down for schools, students continued learning from distance. This is a challenge particularly in Afghanistan. Insecurity throughout the country, less access to technology and less educated parents causes low quality education and unsafe learning environment.
Irshad Private High School (IPHS), started distance learning practice and provide its students to learning videos, tips how to study and how to use the technology and parents how to support their children at home in there learning sessions.
IPHS focused on the following areas:
- Teachers provide videos of daily lessons and timely provide guidance and follow up the learning process with their students
- Students how use technology for distance learning as well as to manage the stress and be positive.
- Parents providing proper support for their children to continue learning.
Safe environment for young learners:
There are many families with less educated or even illiterate. They do not pay attention to their children’s learning. They do not know how their children might be hurt if they do not be careful about their children when they are at home, outside of the home and in the school.
There are many problems cause to make the children to interrupt their learning process.
- No teacher available any time needed (mean could not provide online support and assistance).
- Not to be suitable place for study at home.
- Parents not attach much importance to their children’s’ learning and do not support their children in learning.
- Surrounding area (out of home) not to be suitable and always be with violence and with courses.
Safe learning environments

- Always in contact with the students and parents
- Safeguarding committee in the school (active)
- All school community are in touch with school safeguarding focal point
- Provide awareness to our students and parents from all type harassments
- Consider online learning method that no cause any threat and hurt them.
And can raise security and safety related information and support the team.
IPHS is currently working with their students (around 600 students) in Kabul, Afghanistan district 6th. Due to lock down of the city and closing education institutes the school students’ learning process have been stopped. IPHS started implementing the distance learning and provide the following services:
- Provide learning videos for students
- Ensure that all student have access to the videos and material
- Provide the lessons through flush disk for those who have no access to the internet.
- Keeping the students engaged with learning by using standard applications i.e. google classroom, zoom and telegram
- Teachers are Following up the learning process with the students and parents via learning means and telephone conversation.
- Enable access to quality learning experiences in low-connectivity settings—including imaginative play, collaborative projects, and hands-on experiments.
Since the schools are locked down, the students are in need to be given the the required education. This need help and support by the school teachers. Also parents are well willing to support this process.We are sure these all help to address the problem properly.

Since most of the families and young learners are affected by covid 19, we are sure that by providing support from glob experts, we can handle a better services.
