Due to COVID-19 pandemic situation, education on system worldwide has been effect where the class room chalk board environment is no long applicable due to restrictions of interaction.
In response to the above the use of broadcast media ( Radio talk shows and mega phones) would be relevant and secure to address the current situation.
The learners motivation towards learning shall be reactivated, boosted after a long time stay without class room environment. psycho social support to parents, teachers and learners. Bridges the gap in building hope to check down the drop out rate.
Schools have closed and children are continuously staying at home without learning which has allowed the learners to be preoccupied with non academic work like vending food items and early marriages. This has affected the learners academically.
according to the information from education department of Kasese district, 180,290 learners are affected due the closer of schools.
The media broadcast where radio and megaphones will be organized in away that relevant teachers will be oriented to prepare relevant learning material at agreed time per subject respectively. With this parents will be argued to organize children at the agreed time per subject.
Parents will be sensitized to tune the radio on agreed time
The local leadership in form of Local councils will also be engaged in mobilizing the community for the agreed radio and megaphone learning talk-shows.
Teachers will be mobilized locally in their respective areas for the talk shows on radio and megaphones.
we are targeting primary school pupils which has a total enrollment of 81472 boys and 87276 girls totaling to 168748. All the above are out of school due to the pandemic with no academic engagement at all. There is an outcry of parents and the learners over the long stay at home where the children are forgetting what they had learnt and their physical growth in terms of weight and height worries parents and the learners in the long run. For now we are carrying on with psycho social support to both children and parents.

In alligment with education Uganda goals we target to have quality learning as to boost children enrollment in school. Therefore we believe learning is not only in the 4 walls block but can be transformed through broadcast media in the current situation.

its an idea being brought on board for the first time in this challenging time where classroom environment is becoming irrelevant due to pandemic where social gatherings are prohibited. I believe this concept if honored it will reach to so many since the the radios cover the entire district and megaphones which will cover the entire community and beyond to 4 neighboring districts

This innovation is relevant in the current situation where by a teacher will be available in every home through the radio and megaphone broadcast. listener ship will be at every household which abides with the standard operation procedures. In this children will not be required to walk long distances and interaction will be limited at family level hence promoting learning in our communities.
Children concentration and engagement will be high since the timetable for learning would be highly publicized for parents to mobilize their children at family level.
In the long run the children will be remained of they learnt in the past and also taught in relation to the curriculum in that by the time the normal classroom environment resumes they will have compensated the time lost.

Majorly the majority of the staff are experienced classroom teachers with good qualification in working with the children in question.
We have experienced media personnels/ specialists to handle the broadcast to benefit the population.
The available structure of leadership from the local community to high level of leadership.
Kasese District has so many ethinic groups which are catered for. Women and men are well represented in that both boys and girls can imitate.
The languages are catered for since our community is multilingual. We ensure all people are given equal opportunities to express their ideas and highly respected.

Am applying to solve for the sake of redeeming the time lost in learning due to the pandemic. Since 2020 March children have hard long holiday of which by now they have forgotten what they had learnt. Some have lost hope in going back to school due to growth in height and weight.
Therefore am looking forward to see the joy of children come back to their faces as they learn from home through broadcast where every child will be attended to following the learning timetable.
Once funded the radio airtime will be catered for and megaphones procured for use for the benefit of the child.

As we deal for now with broadcast, we need to go ahead to advance in technology thus in creating software, applications and web development readily available to cater for every child.
In this we look forward to have computer laboratory access in that children can access information available for them to learn Where E- learning could help move us astep where with or without a teacher learning can progress.
Through technology children will access play games which are very educative and developing their thinking capacity and discovery.

At the moment technology we are seeking for due to pandemic am also looking forward to infrastructural development where our schools in the remote mountainous areas are in sorry state . Children learn under trees which hinders learning when therein a change of weather like rain.

This is a great idea. As Education Uganda we have heard teacher exchange visits from link schools in UK. By this i feel am qualified for the prize for it will boost our schools getting to know each other and sharing experiences in Uganda and those abroad.The ASA prize will help through digital inclusion in sharing projects as agreed through effective communication through technology. So far 15 schools are linked and we are looking forward to more being linked to share pictures of our lives as we get to know and appreciate each other as we live in the different worlds.
