M-gerai Technology

M-gerai is designed to allow high school students to learn freely and feel safe during this pandemic which have claimed thousands of lives globally. M-gerai will provide these learners with an affordable option to learning during this pandemic situation where learners are unable to study since in most developing countries, we still rely on the classroom mechanism of teaching. This motivated us to come up with the idea to develop a mobile based technology to solve the classroom challenge in South Sudan. This technology can really save lives because there will no more be classroom base mechanism of teaching during situation like in pandemic.

M-gerai aim at reducing the spread of coronavirus which have claimed thousands of lives, closing of schools globally. M-gerai hopes to provide easy learning from home for high school students so as to reduce the spread of coronavirus and help in reporting of violent cases against students.

M-gerai is a technology, blended online and offline learning experience. Learners will be able to access audio, live demo videos for the lectures, read the course modules offline, and answer online questions, upload assignment, chat with instructors to report any concern they have to their respective instructors.

Our main focus is to make learning easier during this pandemic situation for high school students in South Sudan across the ten states as well primary schools because for the last two years, education sector has been generally affected as a key sector to development.

The flexibility that M-gerai provides with its functionalities and self-guided modules make it accessible and obtainable for learners in remote areas of the South Sudan.

In-order to ensure the highest quality and achievement, students are assigned mentors depending on areas of interest. This mentorship assignment in area will provide the support to keep the student engaged throughout their learning journey. M-gerai will provide an affordable solution for students to attain the skills to contribute to their local communities.

Online and offline education with M-gerai provide practical work for student to project themselves into the workforce and contribute to the development of their communities and countries at large.

Our problem, solution and our target population are aligned with the goods of the fellowship.

Our solution course the education aspect of our high school students and primary schools and we are committed to the physical safety and mental health of learners.

The target population are the high school students and primary pupils who are affected with the current pandemic situation. M-gerai is a mobile based technology intended to easy our emerging generation to reach their full potential.

We selected the stage because for the last one year we were conducting feasibility studies and student outreach which we finished and then from there we lacked funds to start the project.

Currently, we are conducting training to students on how to use some of the open platform like zoom for online classes in high school which is not reliable.

This solution had never been applied in our country

We are graduate students with skills in computer science and engineering.  Specifically, web development, javascript, HTML, Android app development, and design.

Our solution is based in South Sudan where the population is young, multi-racial, and has an equal proportion of men and women in academia and industry.  Our goal is to recruit members to our team who has the right qualification irrespective of their age, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation.  We value the ideas of our team members and the people we serve.  We will ensure the highest standards of respect and inclusion in our leadership team and work setting.
