SmalApp
Africa has a learning crisis, 97.5million children and youths are practically out of school[UNESCO, 2019], reasons are linked with poverty, lack of infrastructure, and little or no political will. Apparently, students’ study and note-taking habits has been linked with student’s performance (see “International Journal of Education and Research Vol. 2 No. 6 June 2014”). By implication; knowledge acquisition can be improved through effective remote study habit and note taking in our learning centres.
Current technological engagements of African youths on social network platforms, is being harnessed positively to aid and rebuild our learning environment for relevance and effectiveness.
Our proposed application (SmalApp) is providing technological solutions to address these key areas of improved & expanded educational platform, with key specific features to enhance easy access, effective study and note taking habit for a concerted effort in human capital development and global relevance.
African learning community is being greatly devastated, critical challenges surrounding this menace include;
- Systemic corrupted educational systems has led to a low-morale, less motivated teachers; affecting the quality and relevance of the knowledge delivered.
- Poverty has greatly affected knowledge seeking youthful population in Africa from easily accessing quality learning and relevant education.
- Effective note-taking; a precursor to active knowledge impartation is greatly being challenge with little or no time for direct contact with person-to-person in-training, due to the global pandemic, crisis and threats.
- cybercrime rate in Africa had really post a threat to the positive impact of technological development in this part of the world, creating a governmental phobia which is leading to threatening policies and developmental set backs.
"Slidenote" is a unique feature on SmalApp platform with a blend of social, informative and learning engagements. It enables all users to have paid access to lecture/training notes uploaded in app customized-slideshows with distinctive voice note explanations which can be rendered in a desired language to drive effective learning. This is jointly marketed with instructors/content creators who earns 70% of the token paid per module. Its unique social and learning blends provides all users ease of access, using online generated activity incentives to pay for their slidenote access per module. These multiple blends will enhance product flexibility for sustainability and growth.
We are providing a platform were both teachers/instructors/trainers [users] and students/learners/trainees [users] are well motivated; sharing from platform online revenues to close the poverty gaps in accessing quality and relevant educational training; we are achieving this through “slidenotes”, a unique SmalApp feature that builds realities into virtual learnings, recreating a new image for technology in Africa, and an impactful technological inclusion for the world at large.
SmalApp is serving the knowledge & skill seeking youths/Adults of age 11yrs - 45yrs, who are internet users. This population is virtually localised online and physically located in our learning institutions. Due to bad policies, poverty, global threats and pandemics; access to effective, quality and relevant training have been challenging. With SmalApp slidenotes which are indirectly sponsored; instructors are motivated to build quality and relevance in their trainings, mobility and portability is built into the system to aid easy and continuous engagements on the platform, more practically also, knowledge distribution is not limited by language barrier any longer. This provides a robust, expanded and relevant learning environment for teachers and students anywhere.
At specific stage of the model development, prospective users are being engaged to understand their plight; here we encounter less motivated instructors whose lecture note are never reviewed to meet up with relevant demands, and discouraged learners who feels their learning is too obsolete and still cumbersome for understanding and assimilation. A simplified portable access note idea sold to them seems quite relieving, especially since they are use to a mobile device, issues around service charges raised were silenced by the incentivized systems built into SmalApp.
- Increase the engagement of learners in remote, hybrid, and physical environments, including strategies and tools for parental support, peer interaction, and guided independent work.
SmalApp features such as the customized slidenote, its interactive real-time chatroom, it's inbuilt community of interest room and its uniquely activity generated incentive structure, is seamlessly galvanised together to address learners needs of access to a unique hybrid, portable and remote learning community. This ultimately increases learning engagements, remote parental access to wards' performances, class interactions with private and personalised study using real-time voice explanations of their instructors rendered in their preferred language of learning.
- Prototype: A venture or organization building and testing its product, service, or business model.
We are currently on the prototype stage of the project development; this is because, having done all necessary company registration for Softwallet Company Ltd to operate legally in Nigeria, we have also perfected our business & application model over the last few years, we are currently proposing a roll out of the prototype as our first phase of product launch of SmalApp via direct market to our targeted market and demography.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
Since the introduction of the technology of the internet of things, many internet platforms, has created multi wealth systems. While such generated revenues are shared within the company shareholders, some companies have accommodated their users in the frame of profit share holders, examples of such are content creators on platforms such as the "YouTube". At Softwallet we are improving on this same model through SmalApp to direct online earnings and incentives to close the gap created by poverty in accessing quality and relevant training programs. This unique feature is built to motivate both the instructors and the learners, ultimately improving and expanding educational systems in the sub region of Africa.
