e school tz
The main problem is teachers in primary schools, fail to deliver learning materials when he/she are distant with their pupils as the references during COVID – 19 Pandemic disease over the world, schools were closed and pupils stay at home.
To introduce eLearning (mobile App and web) that could offer distant learning for primary schools that allow teachers to prepare their own materials and share with his/her pupils in their specific class through their parent.
It allow eLearning for pupils in primary and secondary schools, hence it make them to be busy with the work given by his/her teacher and stay at home for doing assignment instead of spreading into the street. And also the system make teachers to use their professional during and after COVID – 19 Pandemic disease.
Provision of education is compulsory and cyclic activities in each country in the world. In Tanzania each academic year, the government through ministry of education it provide school calendar for the year as guideline to all schools. Many strategies are taken by government to ensure equal access of education to all Tanzania children like recruiting teachers on permanent contracts, increasing budgeting in education in each academic year, provision of fee free education to all children in the country and introducing various courses in teachers' training colleges. But COVID-19 create home learning environment for children from all socio-economic backgrounds. The home learning environment and parental engagement will be more important than ever before.
However, the government of Tanzania initiated programs includes Radio and TVs program offered through national station and private ownership, permission in using social medial mostly wasp group. The programs has several challenge in accomplish the goals of provision distance learning to primary school pupils like; the involvement of pupils’ teachers are limited, evaluation of teaching is difficult, to take attendance for attendee not applicable, it is selective especially for parents who own smart phone and difficult for pupils to revise the learning session.
To overcome the existing problem, this work introduces e school platform for facilitating e-learning which support distance learning in primary education, especially during this period of pandemic disease of COVID-19. The system create account for each subject teacher (tutor), each pupils account integrated with his/her guardian and examination officer account in an area. The teacher account it allow them to upload learning materials include recoded lesson, notes and or assignment in a variety of format like doc. video and audio. The supported software in e School performance include Camtasia studio for screen, voice and teachers’ action record and Cyberlink Powerdirector for audio and video production. The student account it allow them to download materials posted by his/her teacher and if do assignment upload for teacher’s comment and correction.
The e school platform now used in some schools located in western zone of Tanzania and have leady introduced in the ministry of education science and technology in Tanzania. For widen adaptation. The executed of e school from piloted schools was VERY GOOD.
This innovation is in line with the National Strategy for Growth and Reduction of Poverty (NSGRP II), Education Training Policy of Tanzania in 1995, the Millennium Development Goals number 2 target 3 as well as Tanzania Development Vision 2025. All these emphasize on mastering literacy and numeracy skills and increase completion rate for pupils in primary and secondary students. That could be achieved when pupils get learning material at all time as guided by the government. Therefore, this study will be helpful for pupils, parents, teachers and nation at all as follows:
- The nation by achieving their aims and objectives of education to their citizens. In transmitting moral and social values, cultural identity and self-esteem, good citizenship and desirable work ethics.
- Increase literacy rate and numeracy skills among pupils in schools, which is vital for poverty alleviation and human resources for economic development by enhancing competitive skills.
- Improvements of information access to educational staff such as parents, schools and educational authoritative, that is necessary for distance learning in primary schools.
- Support teachers to adapt their pedagogy, facilitate personalized instruction, and communicate with students and their families in remote and hybrid settings.
The proposed solution align/emphasize collaborative learning in distance learning. Recently the invasion of Covid – 19 proved failure in most of primary schools in distance learning adoption. Caused by lacking of common tools for supporting distance learning. The proposed solution emphasize on adoption of eLearning for primary education as it in higher learning. The innovation it offer tools (e school tz) act as Diversion Bridge between school, parents and government in facilitating teaching and learning and train teachers on the use other software including Microsoft word and power point, Camtasia studio and PowerDirector video editor.
- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model rolled out in one or, ideally, several communities, which is poised for further growth.
The choice is based on pilot study performed in some schools located in Kibaha town council in Pwani Tanzania during and after school closed on March, 2020 for Covid – 19 invasion.
- A new technology
The adoption of technology in primary
schools in developing countries including Tanzania is very minimal compared to
higher learning. This innovation create opportunity to the primary teachers to use
their professional at all time of the year despite of occurrence of natural
disasters like Covid – 19. The use of integrated software like e school for
making collaborate learning, Camtasia studio for screen, voice and teachers’ action
record and Cyber Powerdirector for video editor. Teachers may use the proposed innovation
to deliver learning materials to all pupils in their class even disabled
students.
