I am Dr Markose Abraham, PhD,  from Tiruchirapalli, Tamil Nadu, India. I worked as an English Faculty for four decades before becoming an Edupreneur in 2009.

Problem: Enabling access to quality-driven learning experiences in low-connectivity settings - in a safe and collaborative environment through equitable classrooms.

Solution: ELL DORADO Global Virtual School was born out of the necessity to redefine classroom engagement in India.

A warm-hearted man from Solve MIT alerted me to apply for the Global Challenge, was based on his own perception of the work I was doing in the last few years, reflected on the social media? After thanking Mr Ian Mulholland for drawing my attention to the big event in Solve at MIT, i straight away dived into getting the application ready and sending it in time.

At this time in late May, I was preoccupied with my own work. It was already the first of June. I was just moving from the Prototype to the Pilot stage of Ell Dorado school. Given my option, I would not have applied. I was actually not ready for a competition. But, listening to my conscience and the efforts taken by Mr Mulhollland and Solve team, I decided to apply, come what may?

I started work with half a dozen people 3 years ago with my own funds. I have not borrowed from any sources so far nor got the help of any investor. Now that I am going for an upgrade,  I am planning a complete revamp of staff and infrastructure.

I managed to build my solution with an amateur team of young college graduates. Although they were good and cooperative, their work was piecemeal and lacked consistency. Now I am planning a more experienced and qualified team of Educators and Technologists and Marketing staff - in the upgrading program with more funds being deployed and more people hired for a wider reach of the business.

Tiruchirapalli has a lot of education and technology talent. Similar is the case with the other towns in Tamil Nadu. Bangalore, the Silicon Valley of India is only 200 km from  Tiruchirapalli and there are many edtech companies following a different type of business. Since March 2020 many educators have forayed into the edtech line with small local ventures.

Having managed the outer framework for Ell Dorado Global Virtual School which was meant for India only, now I have to widen the reach globally. Requirements and up-gradation work has to be done. To drive expansion I require the help of world-class technical staff as developers and IT specialists. Educators and SME's (Subject Matter Experts) and Marketing staff could be recruited locally. I intend to have a new team comprising of experts from India and the rest of the world for this world-class effort! As such my team could be finalised by September/October 2021 only.
