The pandemic has changed the landscape; the impact on the Social and Emotional aspects of lives can't be over-emphasized. Learning has gone beyond academics, the need for soft skills like empathy, emotional intelligence, and mental health awareness is critical. 
Fliplearnkids Buddie is an online learning platform that encourages learning collaboration. Through this platform, educators are able to deploy a quality learning experience for their learners while promoting Social and Emotional and learning. 
SEL is an area of global concern, our learning buddie will make it easier for global classroom collaboration which will add a unique perspective to soft skills learning in the classroom.

The pandemic affected the emotional well-being of families in Africa, Nigeria with a population of 211.4 million was not left out. The youths and children who make up 51% of the population are at the receiving end of the changes. Learning Buddie is an inexpensive platform that will help educators and parents to develop emotional skills as well as help the kids and learners become socially and emotionally stable.

Fliplearnkids Learning Buddie is a platform that supports online and offline learning deployment. 

The pandemic has changed the landscape; learning has gone beyond academics, the need for soft skills like empathy, emotional intelligence, and mental health awareness is critical. 

This platform combines video content with hands-on projects to help them improve kids in primary and secondary schools improve their social skills as well as educators and parents. 

The platform is deployed under the supervision of the teacher/parent through a collaborative pathway. Educators are also able to deploy intentional content to ensure learning assimilation while promoting social and emotional skills.

The solution is targeted at children in a primary and secondary schools as well as their educators. The current environment in Africa with Nigeria as a focus area requires a foundation of SEL. This is an area that is neglected but a basis for the right foundation. 

Most kids do not achieve their fulfill potential because of a lack of SEL in the learning space.
To understand this issue, we researched to understand the gap and how to close it. This led to the training of educators on the intentional way of using SEL to unleash their learners’ potentials. 

The training covered areas on emotional intelligence, empathy, and mental awareness, It was in three series and tagged balancing competencies.
This yielded a positive outcome on their students’ performance. To sustain this positive outcome, we designed this platform as a go-to place with resources and content that will help the educator and learner.

In recent times children (with the age bracket of 5-15 years) feel disconnected in school. A lot is happening around the country and the children need someone who they can connect with. The school environment is lacking in this regard as educators are also overwhelmed.

Our solution and our target population are aligned with the sustainable development goal of world peace and quality education. When learners are equipped with empathy and emotional intelligence from the foundation, it will encourage peace.

We are committed to their well being these soft skills will go a long way in preparing them for tomorrow. 

The platform is currently being used by a school in Surulere (Cedars Montessori School), and Ikeja (Mind Builders School), Lagos Nigeria, with a total of 400 students.  We also have trained their teachers on how to integrate SEL into their curriculum. 

Flipearnkids' learning buddie is flexible and easy to adapt to suit the learners' and educators' needs. The contents are intentional which makes it so innovative and revolutionary. 

Learners are encouraged to explore diverse fields of SEL with the educator as a guide. In addition, the educators are also trained to be better equipped at guiding the learners and also deploying the required skills towards achieving a positive outcome.
In this way, the educators can ensure a balance between academics and soft skills learning goals.

In addition, the blended learning /Hybrid model will make it easy for the learners who may be out of school due to health-related issues, to learn from a convenient point. In addition, learners who prefer the use of technology tools model will also be encouraged to learn.
 Hands-on learners who may have been discouraged by their previous educational environments.  This creates a balanced curriculum 

We kicked off with a total of 400 students across the age ranges of 5yrs -16 years. We have plans to double this by the end of 2021, however, this is dependent on the platform capacity upgrade.

In five years, with an increase in headcount and updates (accessibility features included) we hope to over 2,500 on the platform.

Our main focus is on Social Emotional Learning as a tool in improving learner’s performance. We drive it via a No Child Left Behind philosophy as a way to ensure equitable learning opportunity for ages 5-16years.

We measure the impact of this pathway via a performance analysis of the learners in schools that we work with and the number of students signed–up on our platform.

Recently we deployed a survey to the schools that are currently using this tool and the feedback has shown great improvement in the learners’ performance.

The educators are also not left out in our tracking and evaluation. We deploy a performance survey to test their use of the platform and the impact of the programme. Their performance rating has improved thanks to this intentional soft skill-based programme.

The survey is done twice in a term, to ensure that we achieve the set target and milestone per child on our platform.

Because of our strong track record of training educators, establishing and implementing new education programs for learners (ages 5 -15 years) our team is well-positioned to deliver this solution. One of our team members is a Microsoft Innovative Expert and has trained educators in various areas of learning outcome delivery. Other members of the team come from business and education experience, which has helped in finding new ways to improve our product acceptance. 

The educational experience of some of our team members has been beneficial towards the various ideas that define our product. The parents among the team have also contributed to the content for learners based on their kids' experience. 

Our software developer has extensive experience developing and deploying online learning management systems. We cover all aspects as a team to ensure a successful outcome

The landscape has changed and Africa and the world need to be prepared for this new wave. The time we are in requires connection and relationships and technology is here to bridge the gap. 

In Nigeria there is a disconnect in the classroom and Fliplearnkids has positioned it self to support. Solve will offer us the resources that our organization requires to develop a full proof platform to cater for the diverse needs of our target audience (5 -16 years) 

We want to invest in staffing with focus on specialized skills in  Software Development if we are selected. (This will cost around $10,000)

We expect to spend $10,000-$15,000 on employees over the course of six months, with the remaining going towards operational expenses, licensing, and other costs.

Fliplearnkids requires support in the area of software development, and front-end and back-end programming to assist us in developing the best (world class standard) and most functional learning management system. 

Despite the fact that we currently have someone, however we need additional support as we want to scale. 

We also would need support in the area of brand awareness, we want to go beyond serving just Nigeria to include Africa and the global world. 

Finally we want to have a team that will help us go far, this will require support and finance to achieve.

Our product provides a unique learning solution backed by technology to help learners and educators within this period and beyond COVID-19.

The solution allows for flexibility in deployment and allows for project based  , hands-on and collaborative pathway.

The ASA prize will help us expand our platform so as to reach out to more users. It will also help us recruit software developers that will sustain our platform uniqueness

Refugee inclusion program will benefit a lot from a STEM-based program that has SEL at its foundation and that's what our product offers.
The platform is flexible to also accommodate tailor-made programme for this target community. In fact, our partnership base will also be helpful in this area.
