Personalized learning is more than just academic achievement. Do a google search for personalized learning; more than likely, you will get platforms that allow the student to practice skills at the child's level. But this is only one component of the personalized learning journey. The solution presented is a one-stop platform where all the essential data of the learner are found in one place. The personalized learning framework used in this solution has the following components- Learner Profile, Personalized Plans, Portfolio.
The platform hosts different data :
The Learner profile: which shows data such as academic scores, attendance scores, learner interest inventory.
The personalized learning plans are where students, parents, and teachers record students' goals(academic and holistic goals ) and can be integrated with personalized instruction platforms.
Portfolio- showcases work students do, service-learning, and mentors and collaborators' feedback. Micro-credential and badges are kept here.

Many schools systems are not doing enough future proofing for our students according to the world bank, "Building future-ready (and pandemic-proof) systems requires designing curricula fit for the 21st century, coupled with the delivery of an accessible, basic educational foundation for everyone that prepares them for a lifetime of adapting and developing new abilities. Specialized education should focus particularly on in-demand skills and address the disconnect between employer needs and existing instruction."
One way to do future proof education is to personalized each child's educational journey. This is not easy task as educators need a whole array of tools just to create one personalized learning plan. This solution proposes a platform that merges various aspects of personalized learning into an easy to use platform. By using the platform students learn to understand better their own growth over the years, it can help others see the progress otherwise lost in common standardized testing measures. At the moment in the USA only a handful states like Vermont mandate personalized learning plan, I can envision where the numbers of states changing their system will increase. Why not facilitate this process . Every child is a star and deserves to shine!
i-Sidus is a straightforward, simple platform that documents the overall educational journey of the students.
It has three components: The student profile, the personalized learning plans, and the learning journal.
The student's profile summarizes the biographical data, goals, aspirations. In other words, it is the "all about me" area.
The personalized learning plan area is where the academic and social-emotional plans for each child are housed. Teachers collaborate to make plans for the students; students can collaborate with teachers/coaches to make their plans. The student-facing part is gamified to increase engagement and reward students for meeting their goals. This area allows to sync in information from other sources like maybe Khan academy.
The Learning Journal is a place to document the learning artifacts and gain badges. The learning journals also have a space for parents, teachers, mentors, and other students to give feedback on the learning documented. The data uploaded can be photographs, videos, voice notes, pdfs, or text-based. AI-powered to label skills displayed on the input data, blockchain technology is used to grant the credentials.
The solution will help teachers, students and parents. Students will be empowered by being involved in their learning journey, each learning journey is different and that difference should be documented. It empowers students by helping the students hone in their passions and interest and earn credentials for their work. Some research has indicated that students with individualized learning plans graduate school with a better sense of purpose when they enroll in college(Solberg, et al) . In case that students can not enroll in college, they would have earn credentials that can be used to demonstrate competencies for future employment.
The teachers facing platform: it helps collect all the aspects of a personalized learning plan for each student in one platform as opposed to having to access many different platform or tools. It increases collaboration among teams working with students and it helps maintain transparency of what each child's plan is like. it humanizes the process for each child. Teachers can send messages to students and parents.
The parent facing: Parents have all the information about their whole child in the platform, parents can co-create family goals for the child, parents can feedback on the child's journey and parents can come to parents meeting better informed and can truly become partners of their child's education. Parents can send messages to the teacher.
The student facing : The platform serves k-12 students. The look of the platform changes as the student get older. It is gamefied and students can start collecting badges as early as prek. Students can quickly identify their areas of strengths and areas that they need to work on. for example a students who is demonstrating high level of leadership but for example lower levels of openness to new ideas. The student can make it their goal to work on that.
I have interview teachers, parents and students about what if they had this type of platform that allows then to see how they grow over time, many of the features imagined in the solution come as a result of the pain points of the groups I asked.
- Support teachers to adapt their pedagogy, facilitate personalized instruction, and communicate with students and their families in remote and hybrid settings.
The personalized i-sirus journey platform serving the k-12 students :
Increases engagement of learners in any learning environment as it has the student take center stage in creating educational and well- being goals, it allows students to document their individual learning experiences and their collaborations with others. Parents are always up to date with the information about their students learning journey. They can collaborate in the community projects and be mentors to the students.
It supports teachers by providing a three step framework to personalizing education. Simplifying the process by merging different aspects of the personalized learning into one platform.
- Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.
It is just a concept that I have been investigating as it was a need that the school that I work on had when we were looking for a platform that had all the different components of our learning plans in one place, so that we did not have to juggle between multiple solutions.
