Basic education is a scarce commodity in many parts of the world. Children with a strong desire to learn are unable to continue their education due to economic, geographic, and social situations. AcadoKnow is committed to making life skills training and education accessible to these populations. We strive to break the power of invisible constraints on a child’s future. Target is creating an academic and social community, equipping educational institutions with computer labs, enabling students to take advantage of supports already in place (e.g. such as free college tuition programs available in some locations), and providing them with new opportunities only accessible through a broader global online community.
The AcadoKnow platform brings together educational content that students can translate, rephrase, and share with their peers all over the world. Through community joining, students will be equipped to mentor peers, teach what they have learned to other students, and thereby extend the reach of strained local educational systems. Though the focus will be on STEM, the platform will also be augmented by volunteer tutors available online to assist students at critical junctures in the their education, from learning to read and write to prepping for college entry. Advisors will provide the support and guidance to assist children, especially those aging out of the orphanages, with college counseling and job seeking. Alumni of the program will have the opportunity to give back into the community by sharing experiences and offering advice to younger AcadoKnow users.
There is no place for glass ceilings, regardless of gender, background, culture or social circumstance. Everyone contributes what they can and shares the great responsibility and power of passing down the knowledge.
