What problem are you committed to solving ?

I am committed to solving the problem of serving the rural population with a meaningful education that empowers them and also takes care of their physical, social, and emotional wellbeing. In rural settings alchoholism is widespread and school education is largely far removed from empowering. 

What solution are you providing ?

I wish to provide a technology based solution where rural children and the youth can use online platforms for learning and enhancing their vocational prospects.

How could your solution positively change lives if it was scaled globally?

As per my observation in rural India, many places have the technology available in form of mobile phones but there is no awareness of the power of connecting with the larger community for a purpose. 

I wish to work for creating a system of education that is meaningful to the children and the youth in my village. The schools provide education with a curriculum that is not very relevant to rural settings. An education that does not involve the youth meaningfully will remain ineffective because they are the drivers of change when provided a direction. 

My solution is a digital platform which involves the local community.The children and youth up to 25 years of age are registered. The schools can become a hub where support and guidance are provided as per their age level, skills, education levels.  

My target population is children and youth up to 25 years of age in my village in India.  I hope to use my solution to empower them with knowledge, guidance, resources, and support so that they may look forward to a better life. Right now widespread alcoholism and violence are ruining families. Students get graduate degrees but do not what to do with them. They are not even aware of what practices they may follow to improve their agricultural produce. 

The power of community involvement is not visible except for the local elections.

Equity in education can be ensured if only education and curriculum takes into account the local conditions. Only them students find it meaningful and youth may be empowered.

I have shared my idea because it has been in my heart for as long as I can remember. Living in my village I have felt the need to handhold the youth. Every time hear about a young person's involvement in crime or death due to alcoholism, it makes me think about what could have been done differently to give these people safe, meaningful lives.
