Reelae
Reelae was created to solve the challenges of today's online learning platforms that can be complex, clunky and tricky to navigate. Reelae is an online learning tool that is beautiful and simple in design with everything teachers and learners are looking for.
Our overarching abiding passion is to release learners and educators from administration in order to create better learning experiences. Our software was designed by people who genuinely love learning and want the experience to be simple, easy and fair.
Reelae was built to be scalable . Our tool accommodates every stage of teaching and learning needs from primary school, high school, tutoring, right through to tertiary education and beyond. It can be used anywhere, on any device whether you are in a suburb in a big city or in a remote village of Papua New Guinea.
Covid-19 has disrupted learning across the Globe. This is magnified in developing countries where schools have been closed and children are unable to attend class - let alone continue to learn. The educational and digital gap is expanding in these regions and unfortunately, they are forgotten about.
Schools for more than 168 million children globally have been completely closed for almost a full year, says UNICEF.
Our market focus is in the APAC region and mainly in the Philippines (27.7m K-12 enrollments), Malaysia (9.9 K-12 enrollments) and Papua New Guinea (K-12 enrollments) but with a vision to rollout our solution globally for children to continue learning.
Reelae is a simple learning management system accessible via our website. No installation needed - users/schools sign up or login via our portal.

Our market focus is in the APAC region and mainly in the Philippines (27.7m K-12 enrollments), Malaysia (9.9 K-12 enrollments) and Papua New Guinea (K-12 enrollments) but with a vision to rollout our solution globally for children to continue learning.
For example, schools in the Philippines have been closed and children from K-12 are not learning. We are looking to offer 6/12 months of free use to these schools across our targeted market, to help them keep schools open and students learning, however will need additional funding take on these costs.
The schools in the Philippines that are using Reelae are enjoying the platform and its help them keep their school open and we actively support their feature requests to keep improving our software to serve their needs.
- Increase the engagement of learners in remote, hybrid, and physical environments, including strategies and tools for parental support, peer interaction, and guided independent work.
The key demographic we are focusing on is children, school aged from K-12 in the APAC region. Schools in these regions have been vastly affected by COVID-19 to the point of shutting schools down altogether. Reelae would allow schools to be open through using our platform to deliver the schools curriculum remotely, so that students can continue their schooling. Our platform is modern, clean and simple to use!
- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model rolled out in one or, ideally, several communities, which is poised for further growth.
Reelae to date has been used across 8 countries. Our community sits at 2000 and we have 4 paying schools in the Philippines who are on 12month contracts. We are also about to deploy Reelae at a university in Papua New Guinea.
- A new technology
Though there are many learning management systems on the market, we have built a certain feature that is solving group work marking. Our Workspace feature allows teachers to create a group work assessment in Reelae, then students in a group are able to type up their assessment in real-time together. Once its done and submitted to the teacher, the teacher can see exactly who did what and how much - making the task of marking group working projects accurate and fair.
Teachers can even view real-time progress of each group and also identified the key words that they are using - which is manually entered by the teacher in Reelae.

Currently, Reelae serves about 2000 users.
Our forecast below shows our conservative numbers in the chosen markets in the next 4 years.
In 5 years time, we expect to travel along that trajectory and hit 2.5m users
During COVID19 and lockdowns, Reelae has helped various schools stay open due to its ability to thrive through online learning. There were a few schools who stayed open due to the usage of Reelae, and in fact, there was a school that increased its enrollment last year due to the fact that they subscribed to Reelae.
Schools staying open as well as an increase in intakes are indicators of Reelae's positive impacts in these developing countries.

The founders of Reelae come from a software development background and they met while doing their Masters Degree at the University of Technology Sydney. Our Founder, Samson (CEO) had been doing some part time teaching at university while studying and using the Learning Management Systems there. He saw a gap in the market and decided to pitch the idea to his academic colleagues and fellow students - some of whom are now part of the Reelae founding and senior management team.
Samson also owns a few business in Papua New Guinea and has been working with clients all around the country over the past 15 years. Because his own extended family all live in PNG and have difficulty getting educated, he made this venture very personal so that at least he and his team can contribute to educating kids across these regions who are sadly forgotten about.
Samson is a black founder from Papua New Guinea who migrated to Australia in his early 20s to pursue his dream of studying in the I.T field. Years later he met Richard who is also a migrant from India who now lives in Sydney too.
Together they sought out to build their solution to help others like them in disadvantaged communities around the world, so that those they help through Reelae, can also have a chance to get the right education they need.
We also have a few women working at Reelae from communications to marketing and sales. The three women that have been engaged by Reelae have backgrounds from Italy, Philippines and India.
It is the CEOs passion to build capacities in the areas that our technology is rolled out across, so there will be an increase in employment opportunities with us - mainly in PNG, Philippines and India.
- Organizations (B2B)
The main reason we want to apply for this grant is to truly help distribute our solution to much needed regions in the pacific islands and parts of Asia where Reelae is being used.
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Product / Service Distribution (e.g. expanding client base)
We want to grow our presence so partnering with organizations or people that could help distributed or roll out our technology is critical in this pandemic world we all live in.
Also, having the right people available to collect data and measuring impact would benefit us in a way where we can see how useful our solution is and whether we would need to pivot or improve our services to generate better results.
Education departments of states or provinces would be ideal partners for the roll out of our learning management system across their region. If this is done so, then we could be part of the annual budget allocation for the LMS roll out for the public schools that are under their governance.
