This project is about providing students currently in exam classes (ss3) with a learning package that will enable them to continue learning and studying at home after school hours. This Learning package will include an MP4 player and memory cards with pre-recorded subjects being taught by teachers. This package will also include study guides in form of pamphlets that will provide necessary information to ensure students make maximum use of the learning package.
This will enable students in very remote areas without internet access and poor radio coverage to have access to learning. This will also provide students with their dedicated player for learning without having to share it with other households’ members
The aim of this project is to provide students of exam classes (ss3) in rural communities of Lagos, Nigeria with study materials in form of mp4 and memory cards that contain prerecorded teachings of subjects they offer.
Young people in rural and underserved communities in Nigeria are being left behind in the application of e-learning methods, as they are not equipped to adapt or transition to the new system of learning. These students in the rural areas may never catch up and will continue to feel the effect of this gap long after the pandemic is over.
The World Poverty Clock has revealed that 91,885,874 people in Nigeria now live in extreme poverty which is below a dollar a day. The purchase of smart learning devices might be a trade-off that they cannot afford.
This may result in a severely diminishing pool of young adults who have not garnered the necessary skills to stay ahead in the future.
The Nigerian education ecosystem is already characterized by inequality in terms of reach across the entire addressable population. This pandemic has further unmasked substantial inequities in the Nigerian sector education sector.
This is a very serious and debilitating development for the Education sector, the COVID-19 pandemic creates a complex mixture of threats and opportunities because it carries within it both a challenge and an opportunity to enhance access and strengthen quality through the deployment of e-learning solutions.
The goal of this project is to provide students currently in exam classes( ss3 ) with a learning package that will enable them to continue learning and studying at home even while schools are closed.
This Learning package will include an MP4 player and memory cards with subjects being taught by teachers pre-recorded in it for students.
This will also come with study guides to ensure students make maximum use of this package
These will enable students in very remote areas without radio frequency or with very shaky radio frequency to also have access to learning. This will also provide students with their dedicated player for learning without having to share it with other household members.
This solution is targeted at exam year students that reside in rural areas.
600 students of exam classes (ss3) in rural communities of Lagos, Nigeria will be provided with study materials in form of mp4 and memory cards that contain pre-recorded teachings of subjects they offer.
These students are considered to be at a disadvantage due to the fact that they do not have access to smart learning devices via the internet.
The final year students are going to be taking external exams which include the West African examination council which is set by the exam body and most of the schemes in the curriculum have not been covered by their schools.
If provided with these devices, they will have the opportunity to cover the parts that have not been taught by their teachers.
