Edu. Enrich Society Organization (EESO)
Project Aim
Educate Enrich Society Organization (EESO) is intending to implement a project called "Supporting Learning by Edu-Technological tools (SLETT-) project". with the purpose of enriching and supporting school that are in the rural and remote areas where these edu-technological development are rarely be delivered.
The rural schools are mostly rejected in many development compared with schools in urban areas. This means educational rights of the students in rural schools are neglected. Most of rural community day secondary schools have ; no definable school libraries, laboratories and reinforce learning Edu-Technological tools. That's why there is a gap on performance between a rural school and urban school. Hence this project aims to support learning through providing the Reinforce Edu-Technological Tools to two rural community day secondary schools; Elangeni in Mzimba district and Nkhumano CDSS in Chitipa district. It will help to minimize challenges on equality and access to education for nation.
Malawi is one of the most poorest countries in the world. Where the largest population spend less than one dollar per day. The population is over 17,000,000. The 70.3% of the population of Malawians lives on less than $1.90 in a day, Malawi is at top 10 poorest and developing nation in the entire world. According to the data updated in July 2020 and categorized in CEIC under World Trend Plus’s Country Forecast – Table IMF.WEO: Gross Domestic Product: Purchasing-Power-Parity (PPP): Per Capita: Current Prices; shows that Malawi’s GDP PPP Per Capita is forecasted to be 995.271 PPP Intl $ in Dec 2020 as reported by World Economic Outlook.
For this purpose education sector is one of the affected areas, where learning takes place without teaching resources, such as lack of library buildings, syllabus based teaching text books, laboratory infrastructures, laboratory equipments, Calculators, Edu-Technological tools such as computers, projectors, CD for ebooks, etc. EESO Malawi targets to address problems of poor quality of education faced by schools in rural and remote areas in Malawi through provision of some educational resources such as computers, projector, CDs of digital ebooks and scientific Calculators.
The solution is called Technological Materials Assistance In Rural Secondary Schools. The project seeks to support with the technological tools that will make education and learning in remote schools simple. The program targets two Community Day Secondary Schools that's Elangeni and Nkhumano. The project is targeting to improve the performance of 50% students in two rural secondary schools. The project will promote student centered learning education because computers will have ebooks which students will be able to study and search information own their own at their own time during working hour. This will rise up curiosity of studying and searching information to promote spirit of hardworking in students. The access to have and use scientific Calculators will boost up easy way of solving mathematics and increase their curiosity in skills of solving mathematics. While the Learning using projector will make learning easy, since pictures and videos relating to a lessons will be easily display that will help to clarify the concepts that is under delivery easily. On top of that EESO Malawi through this project hopes to provide an awareness campaign in the society against school dropout especially for girls in these two secondary schools.
The target population whose lives you are working to directly and meaningfully improve
The population of students in Malawi between age of 10 to 20 is over 5 million and the project is expected to reach more students at secondary school. This project will benefit with at least 800 students for each school has total number of 400 students.
Who are they, and in what ways are they currently underserved
Just by moving around the rural areas and visit their schools and villages you simple understanding the poverty where these students come from. Even school conditions that these learner are goes and exposed to you will easily understand that there is really a need assist. And population of people in rural live in poverty, hence poor parents fails to support their children with financial and school fees. As the result the large number of childrens fails to continue with education, they drop out from school, due frustrations and lack support, hence children indulge themselves in bad social behaviors that put them on problems. Many young girls indulged themselves in premature and premarital relationship with sugar dads, hence the behavior lead them into unsafe sex in favor and exchange to their everyday needs that traps them, this results into increase in cases of early marriages, early pregnancies and asexually transmitted diseases or infections (STD/Is). And on top of that when they go to schools find that there is no motivation, no education material resources it act as a double punch to dropout of the school.
What are you doing to understand their needs, and how are you engaging them as you develop the solution?
EESO has managed to pay school fees for the following students;
1. Elesi Timvekeyani of Nkomachi Community Day Secondary school in Ntcheu district from forms three to four. This student has a single parent(mother) who is in her old age and very poor.
2. Taonga Kakhuni of Kwakupokera community Day Secondary School in Mzimba District from forms three to four. Taonga comes from Lusangazi in Mzimba district, was identified as a less privileged student because his poor parents could no longer manage to pay for his school fees such that they decided to withdraw him from school so that he could focus on farming.
3. Enalla Nkhoma of Enyezini Community Day Secondary School in Mzimba District who is currently in form three. Enalla Nkhoma comes from a very remote area called Luvwele in Mzimba district. Her divorced mother survives through small scale farming such that she could not manage to pay for her secondary education circle.
4. Lighton F. Moyo a student at Ekwendeni college of health science, we manage to pay part of the fees.
How will the solution address their needs?
They will acquire the equal opportunity as those who are in urban Schools where learners are exposed to Schools resources, hence the performance will be improved.
70% of students population through this project will acquire education awareness campaigns on importance of education to the society. Hence the project will need to serve and promote girl child access to education and also ending child marriages, girl discrimination, girl victimisation and girl harassment. Because more girl will be spending more time on studies than indulging themselves in bad behavior, for they will be motivated with the campaigns plus edu-Technological equipments that will be at their Schools.
- Enable access to quality learning experiences in low-connectivity settings—including imaginative play, collaborative projects, and hands-on experiments.
The project will serve a population of 800 student. The project will be conducted in two Schools of NED of Malawi. The NED has over than 250 secondary school and more than 750 primary schools. These 2 out of 250 school in NED are chosen for this project because it is a suitable site since it has shown poor performance for three consecutive years 2018, 2019 & 2020 both at Malawi School Certificate for Education (MSCE). So providing education technological tools that will make education and learning very simple, hence improve performance, reduce school dropout level and making learning motivative.
- Pilot: An organization deploying a tested product, service, or business model in at least one community.
We have selected the "pilot," because we are working is one educational community called Northern Education Division (NED) Malawi, and within NED that where two government school are selected do this project. The project will be conducted in two Schools of NED of Malawi. The NED has more than 250 secondary school and more than 750 primary schools. These two school in NED are chosen for this project because it is a suitable site since it has shown poor performance for three consecutive years 2018, 2019 & 2020 both at primary and secondary levels compared to other regions according to MANEB (2020). This poor performance of students in the region has worsen in the year 2020 in which COVID 19 started being experienced, ( PSLCE Results, 2020). More worse in these two remote Schools.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
Innovation will provide a new method of class lesson delivery on top of the old methodologies. The presence of computers, projectors and scientific calculators will provide a simple way of work delivery to learners for easily understand the concepts compared to the delivery before the equipment.
Innovation will have the potential since it shall help to achieve equitable to education since the education quality in the rural Schools will be improved and the education service delivery in these schools will also be improved, through provision of edu-Technological materials.
Learning will be faster because it will involve less effort to solve problems in mathematical subjects with calculators, explaining the concept in less time due picture and videos clarity by using projectors and study using computers is very motivating. Hence learning will take place at higher late than the old usual methods.
This is for the benefit of both the students and the teacher. Why is so because;
(a). Learning will take place faster than usual.
(b). Students will be exposed to the new skills of how to use the computer as added advantage.
(c). Students will have the zeal and curiosity to search new information through ebooks in the computers and improve their study habits.
(d). The provision of the ebooks is addition to lack of books and well defined library at an institution.
The innovative solution is advantageous to all including; learners, learning process, teachers and nation and globally since, enabling access to quality learning experience in low connectivity settings.

Current the solution not yet implemented, that means no one is benefiting but soon EESO will implement the solution through this project in Northern Education Division (NED) at the two school Elangeni and Nkhumano.
Elangeni Community Day Secondary School, has capacity of holding 400 students per year and each class hold 100 students, that means this projects will benefit the approximately a total number of 400 students at the school level and the campaign around the school villages in encouraging parent to support their children for education, while teacher will also benefit in teaching and learning resources available for teaching process.
In the same way at Nkhumano Community Day Secondary School, has capacity of holding 400 students per year and each class hold 100 students, that means this projects will benefit the approximately a total number of 400 students at the school level and the campaign around the school villages in encouraging parent to support their children for education, while teacher will also benefit in teaching and learning resources available for teaching process.
That means in a year 800 students will benefit from the solution. And unnumbered parents and teachers will benefit from the projects.
In every year we will be expanding the project and approaching more school hence in 5 year we are expecting to reach a 15,000 students and unnumbered teachers and parents around schools.
