EDU AT EDGE
Edu at Edge leverages on increasing access to education to the young generation between the age of 3 to 15 years old. in our research we find that pupils find it hard to access education due to the prevailing contagious diseases such as Covid-19,flue and ringworm, high cost of education, long distances they take to access schools, and the low teacher workforce and quality of education. our key solution is to recruit and train local community members who are motivated, high potential young people with minimal qualifications of a teacher to offer education affordably to everyone through our physical and digital interventions. Our community educators (CEs) offer home based education and in case of consultation from more senior teachers, our android app offers a consultation interface between senior teachers and CEs, also between students and CEs plus reading/class materials for students and teaching materials for teachers/CEs. Inequality in the world is the norm that we've allowed to thrive. Inequality also exists in access to education well as illiteracy is universal. The sad reality is, access to education is not universal, it is for a few lucky ones. Over 400million people in Africa live in last mile villages, in Uganda over 20million people live in last Mile villages where access to education is still a challenge. Children are supposed to walk every day not less than 15km to access the nearest schools and in most cases, they're expensive and yet offer low quality education. Many have dropped out of school because they can’t manage the distance, school fees and health issues like the prevailing contagious diseases such as Covid-19, flu and ringworms. In addition to youth unemployment, More than 75% of Uganda’s population is below the age of 30, with the country having one of the highest youth unemployment rates at 13.3% the number of youth actively looking for a job as a percentage of the labor force in Sub-Saharan Africa, many have resorted to drags and other related evil things because they can’t find paying jobs.
our key solution is to recruit and train local community members (becoming community educators) who are motivated, high potential young people with minimal qualifications of a teacher to offer education affordably to everyone through our physical and digital interventions. Our community educators (CEs) offer home based education and in case of consultation from more senior teachers, our android app offers a consultation interface between senior teachers and CEs, also between students and CEs plus reading/class materials for students and teaching materials for teachers/CEs.

- Increase the engagement of learners in remote, hybrid, and physical environments, including strategies and tools for parental support, peer interaction, and guided independent work.
we find that many pupils who live in last Mile villages drop out of school because they find it hard to access education due to long distances, expensive/high cost of education and yet it is of low quality and health issues like the prevailing contagious diseases such as Covid-19, flu and ringworms. we use technology and community members to build a world where every child can access education everywhere regardless of their financial background or geographical location with a main goal of introducing technology to students at a young age and professionalizing the teaching sector to offer high quality education and this corresponds with the challenge as it suggests that all young learners have access to quality, safe, and equitable learning environments.

The developers and visionaries of Edu at Edge have been working on the product since May of 2019. The first six months included research into the project management and markets. The information gleaned from that research laid the foundation for the key features of Edu at Edge. The developer of the product began working in November of 2019 and the product went into testing in December of 2019. The reviews and feedback from testing indicated an excellent acceptance level for the product, and on 1st January 2020 the product was launched in Nyemerwa village Buikwe district and latter Kisimula village in Nakaseke District in Uganda, so far we're empowering 22 CEs and educating 138 pupils in Nyemerwa and Kisimula village.
