World Unity Inc.
Overcome racism, prejudice and bias, a global challenge.
Planting the seeds of equality, diversity and inclusion through program, "Singing Equality across America and around the World."
Students represent 100% of the future, by presenting our program to schools across the nation it can empower and inspire a generation to value equality, diversity and inclusion. Dr. King recognized we can pass all the laws we want, we cannot legislate the heart. Valuing one and other and seeing our common humanity begins in the heart.
Aristotle once said, "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." Our program educates the heart. See a video of 800 children singing the song and performing the verse in sign language: http://worldunityinc.org/assets/files/We_all_See_the_Stars_v4.mp4
Students in the Ferrway school have learned the song. One student said, "One day the world will hear the song and it will stop discrimination."
All humans have conscious and unconscious biases. No one is immune from it. It is part of human conditioning. Children learn it at quiet a young age. The medical profession recognized that as early as ages 2 to 4 children can internalize racial biases and by age 12 many become set in their beliefs. I remember presenting the Sun poem to students in a poetry workshop, asking the students who were 9 years old at the time how many of them experienced discrimination. Three quarters of the hands went up.
With the internet young children are exposed to a lot of stereotypes and biases in media, the culture and society. What tools are we giving students that they can use every day any where that can empower them to value themselves and classmates who are different from them?
Racism and prejudice permeates every sector of our society, it is a global problem. The internet and social media did not exist 30 years ago. It is having a profound impact on our humanity. Biases and hatred can be promoted on digital platforms 24/7. In 2019 hate crimes towards Jews rose 14% and in 2020 150% towards Asian Americans.
No one is born into the world with prejudice, bias and hating groups of people. It is all learned.
We're planting the seeds of equality, diversity and inclusion through "Singing Equality across America and around the World." By teaching the song, discussing its meaning and hearing each other's answers, the students can connect with each other. They now have a tool they can use if they are discriminated, just remind their classmate of the line, "are you greater than the sun that shines on everyone, no matter who you are, Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and White/ the sun does not discriminate. The song can empower them to value themselves and each other.
"One day the world will hear the song and it will stop discrimination," is the comment one student wrote.
Technology is a powerful tool that can be used to spread ideas to inspire the world. We've been able to share our program with schools across the nation to empower them to embrace the program. One school district was inspired by video of 429 students singing our song and performing it in sign language they had 800 children sing the song and perform the verse in sign language. http://worldunityinc.org/asset...
"Singing Equality across America and around the World," is a major initiative of World Unity Inc. is for everyone, however we are especially targeting schools and youth organizations across the nation. They are the next generation. We've been especially reaching out to urban districts and schools in low economic communities. Children are learning simple powerful words that can stay with them and serve them for the rest of their lives, "Are you greater than the sun that shines on everyone, no matter who you are we all see the stars. Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and White the sun does not discriminate." And the line,"
Aristotle said, "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all." This program educates the heart. It's already been recognized that students start experiencing prejudice and bias at a young age. What tools are we giving students that can empower them to value themselves and each other?
When students experience discrimination it can have a profound impact on them. According to the Anna Freud National Center for Children & Families, it can, "Detrimental effect on their mental health, their self-esteem, and their educational performance."
Our can empower students to be who they are and value each other. The teachers also benefit because all humans have conscious and unconscious biases. The song invites self-reflection and teachers can become more self-aware of how they view others.
We build partnerships with the teachers to offer any guidance in presenting the program to their students. We've suggested they have a discussion about its meaning and invite students to write about the impact the song had on them and make the song a part of the student's education throughout the year.
By having all the students learn the song we are giving them a tool for them to be accountable to each other. If a student witnesses a classmate discriminating or even bullying another student just remind the discriminator of the song song and these powerful lines, "Are you greater than the sun/ that shines on everyone: Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and White/ we all see the stars, the sun does not discriminate. There is no judgment, it empowers the student to do the right thing.
We are giving the students a tool that can serve them for the rest of their life and never feel diminished, discriminated or devalued by anyone. "The sun shines on everyone." Teachers can stress this line and point out all the differences people have and how the sun shines on all of us no matter who you are.
- Increase the engagement of learners in remote, hybrid, and physical environments, including strategies and tools for parental support, peer interaction, and guided independent work.
Increase Engagement of Learners
Students love the song!
It helps with mental health and self-esteem by creating an inclusive environment. Students comments:
- Julia- I felt warm inside because the song is about how everyone is welcome.
- VH- When I sing this song, I feel like I can do anything
- Annie- I feel really proud and it makes me confident about life.
Its inspired collaboration with art teachers engaging students to create images song evokes.
This program gives students a tool they can use every day. It makes them feel great about themselves and puts them in positive state of mind.
- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model rolled out in one or, ideally, several communities, which is poised for further growth.
Singing Equality across America and around the World is addressing a global issue. In America 50 mayors and local officials in 23 states have declared racism a public health crisis? What tools are we giving students to empower them to value themselves and each other throughout their life so racism does not a public health crisis when they are adults? What tool are we giving them to be accountable to each other, to empower to feel great about who they are and to value each other?
Social media and the internet did not exist 30 years ago. It's global and operating 24/7. Unfortunately there's information being shared that's promoting bigotry and intolerance for differences. Our program is planting a powerful song that can empower students every day and serve them for the rest of their life! We need technology to help scale our program up to reach more schools across the nation.
- A new business model or process that relies on technology to be successful
Our country has never addressed the root cause of prejudice and bias - a mindset by the founders of our nation that those who did not look like them were not their equals. Since the day the nation was founded Native Americans, women, Black, Asians, Latinos, Gays, transgender, mentally and physically challenged people were not seen as equals. These groups are still seeking equity, diversity and inclusion.
Unfortunately, laws and policies cannot remove racism, prejudice or biases from one’s mind or heart. We must do it ourselves. This requires a daily practice of self-reflection. The place for change starts within each of us. This has not been recognized as vital focus to overcome racism
Singing Equality across America and Around the World has a song that engages the individual to looking within. The verse asks the question are you greater than the sun that shines on everyone.., invites self-reflection and can be a catalyst to transform the heart and mind. We cannot remove our biases if we are not willing to confront ourselves. This song engenders this process in a non-judgmental way. When we let go of our biases we will grow personally and professionally impacting our workplace, community and the world.
The song is timeless, universal, empowering and transformative. It can be translated into other languages There is no song that promotes self-reflection to overcome racism and speaks the truth of equality. It can inspire us to be as great as the sun and dare to shine on everyone.

Our program has been serving students in at the Ferrway school in Malden Mass. which is around 600 students and students. However due to the pandemic this year the teacher has only be able to teach 150
At the Park Middle school in Manchester NH the teacher taught around since 750+ since 2015. However due to the pandemic this year she's only been able to teach 45 students.
We also gave the Shining Star, Montessori public charter school in DC the approval to have We All See the Stars, their school song. Their student population is 285. This song is part of their school experience.
Tim Russell a band leader has produced the song into an instrumental piece and this year he has been able to work with 450 students.
We were have been working with a teacher at the Newton Public Schools and were hoping to add her to our list of schools we've been working with, unfortunately the school let her go. As soon as she finds another school we hope we can add more students learning the song. hope to increase the number in the year to serve students in the Boston Public schools by 500
Due to the pandemic this year, we do not anticipate we can dramatically increase the numbers.
In five years we hope we will be impact 4 million
We're measuring our progress by the impact we make and partnerships we form that result in actions.
Our website offers opportunity for people to connect with us. Recently a leader working with China addressing climate issues reached out to me. He saw the connection between environmental issues and racism. To address both you have to care about humanity, you have to overcome your unconscious biases. We had a great conversation. I shared our vision about having the song performed at the Olympics. He has connections with celebrities and stars and is running it by them.
A band leader in a public school in Manchester, NH is a new partnership established this year. He turned the song into an instrumental piece and presented it to 450 students. He's produced a video with instrumentals and vocals which we hope to share and make an impact on the internet.
Each performance of our song produced into video is making an impact on schools, organizations and social media generating awareness for our program and organization.
Our videos have inspired other schools to perform the song. The video of 429 students was posted on Vimeo inspired 800 students in the school district of New Haven to sing the song and perform the verse in sign language: http://worldunityinc.org/asset...
Recently within 5 weeks 44 digital billboards across 26 states were donated to promote the Sun poem, the heart of the song.

It's bring awareness to WUI who is promoting Singing Equality across America and around the World.

We believe we have a solution to the problem Equitable Classroom. Teachers and students mindset contribute to the solution and the problem. They create the sense of being valued, being heard, and belonging which impacts the learning climate and process. Unfortunately they all have unconscious biases because all humans have it.
Singing Equality across America and around the World can plants seeds of equality and empower students and teachers to become more self-aware. This program is providing a tool that can be part of the education whether, daily, weekly or monthly. The success of the program is evident in students responses who have learned the song.
We hope Solve could help us find a way to embed the program in the school curriculum or digital platform
Thousands of schools across the nation and beyond don't know the program exist. We hope Solve could help us with a strong marketing plan to reach the schools, especially those that may be looking for a program to promote more equity in the classroom.

World Unity Inc. is a non-profit with whose mission is to promote equality, diversity and inclusion by raising self-awareness through the arts, education and innovative ideas. I believe we have a powerful message that has inspired an innovative idea to use a song to transform hearts and minds.
Public Relations
We need the right and plan and venue to expose the song to impact he world. For example, I envision children singing the song led by a super star at the Olympics, the World Cup or the Super Bowl. This is PR, branding/marketing strategy. If the song was performed at any one of these venue it would bring awareness to World Unity, the program, encourage schools to embrace it and boost donations!
In order to transform the consciousness of humanity it requires using the same technique that created the problem, the power of repetition. We need social and global media to promote our program. Our song is timeless, universal and transformative. It can be translated into different languages of the world. We need a powerful marketing campaign to ignite the world with our song!
Business Model
As a non-profit we driven by a mission and depend on sponsorships, individuals donations, grants and growing the funds we have. We welcome the assistance to develop a model that can generate funds that we may not be aware of.

With this technology age I believe it can be the tool to help raise the conscious of humanity by planting our song and the PSA.

As an Asian American I understand what it feels like to be the only one and the impact it can have on a person's sense of belonging, being valued and heard, especially in finding one's voice.
I have been dedicated to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion since 1985 and my passion led to the founding of World Unity Inc. in 1993. The mission of the organization is to promote equality, diversity and inclusion by raising self-awareness through the Sun poem and empowering individuals through the art, education and innovative ideas.
The Sun poem is the inspiration for the founding the organization and our initiatives. It has been produced into a PSA and inspired a program, Singing Equality across America and Around the World. You can view the PSA:http://worldunityinc.org/asset...

Both are digitally available and can easily be available to educators and students. I have seen the impact the PSA and program has made. People make up communities and STEM Education. To have sustainable communities and make STEM education more accessible and equitable people need to address and become aware of their conscious and unconscious biases. We all have them, it's the human conditioning.

World Unity Inc. qualifies because I am an Asian American woman leading the organization. We're addressing the root cause of racism and all forms of discrimination which includes sexism. Einstein once said, 'You cannot solve a problem with the same consciousness that created it. You must stand on a higher ground." We have the program that's transformative and touches the consciousness.
As an Asian American woman who grew up when the only career opportunities were teacher, nurse or secretary I know what it feels like to have no path open to grow your talents and have experienced the oppression by men.
I know the work to overcome racism and sexism must starts within. I had to face my own biases and prejudice. The Sun poem led me into the work of promoting equality and is the inspiration for the founding of World Unity Inc.'s mission to promote equality, diversity and inclusion by raising self-awareness through the Sun poem and empowering individuals through the arts, education and innovative ideas.
We'd use the funds to seek a creative person, knowledgeable about social media to work with us to create a powerful marketing plan to ignite the world about World Unity Inc. We have an extraordinary to tell and a gift for the world to heal and unite.
We'd also use the funds to strengthen and enhance our website to have a dynamic presence on the internet, make it unforgettable, inspire people to share to help us plant the song in the world!
I have been dedicated to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion since 1985. The work led to the founding of World Unity Inc. in 1993 and our mission to promote equality, diversity and inclusion by raising self-awareness through the Sun poem and empowering individuals through the arts, education and innovative ideas. I have stayed true to this mission and even in the face of overwhelming obstacles and challenges. The Sun poem which I wrote in 1978 has helped me stay rooted in my humanity - Are you greater than the sun/that shines on everyone: Black, Brown, Yellow, Red and White/the sun does not discriminate.
I understand it's critical to be self-aware, stay humble, and never give up on your vision when it serves humanity.
To create a thriving, equitable and sustainable future we need humanity to work on their conscious and unconscious biases that's dividing people. Our PSA and musical program addresses this.

While I don't work in the field of AI if the goal is to leverage data science, artificial intelligence, and/or machine learning to benefit humanity, as well as to those planning to utilize these technologies to amplify their impact I would pose a question - what tools or practice have you developed to overcome your conscious and unconscious biases? All humans have it. It's the human conditioning. How can you ensure you are not building any unconscious biases in AI that will be used by the public?
My work since 1985 has been dedicated to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion. It led to the founding of World Unity Inc. in 1993 and our mission to promote equality, diversity and inclusion by raising self-awareness through the Sun poem and empowering individuals through the arts, education and innovative ideas.
I have a deep understanding of the need to stay rooted in my humanity and practice self-awareness to ensure I am doing the right thing to serve humanity. The Sun poem has helped me empowered me to do this.
I've been persistent in bringing to the educational and business community the need to cultivate a mindset of valuing equality, diversity and inclusion and presenting the Sun poem as the tool.
