Meet Doctors is an online friendly chat app developed to bridge the gap existing in arising pandemics and to Prepare for and combatting against infectious and health threatening global pandemics . It is aimed at providing individuals though a thought-out friendly platform an opportunity to discuss new or suspicious emerging diseases in communities including rural and urban and reduce unpreparedness in countries during emerging outbreaks.

What specific problem are you solving?

Pandemics are large-scale outbreaks of infectious disease that can greatly increase morbidity and mortality over a wide geographic area and cause significant economic, social, and political disruption. Evidence suggests that the likelihood of pandemics has increased over the past century because of increased global travel and integration, urbanization, changes in land use, and greater exploitation of the natural environment (Jones and others 2008; Morse 1995). These trends likely will continue and will intensify. Significant policy attention has focused on the need to identify and limit emerging outbreaks that might lead to pandemics and to expand and sustain investment to build preparedness and health capacity (Smolinksky, Hamburg, and Lederberg 2003).

The international community has made progress toward preparing for and mitigating the impacts of pandemics. The 2003 severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) pandemic and growing concerns about the threat posed by avian influenza led many countries to devise pandemic plans (U.S). The Covid-19 which is currently a major challenge to human lives and existence is said to have been caused by a novel coronavirus called ‘severe’ acute respiratory syndrome and was first identified amid an ‘outbreak’ of respiratory illness case in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China. As of June 2021, there is a record that the virus had infected over 176.2 million people worldwide, and the number of deaths totaled more than 3.8 million lives and this information isn’t based on assumptions but from carefully observed and information generated country records making this a great concern.

Developing a community inclusive/individual Surveillance/Reporting Matrix for suspicious unusual diseases Using an App.

There is an urgent need to develop a reporting link and channel that is not dependent on health practitioners or government health organizations but that is individual based/inclusive. I am suggesting that technology based approach should be embraced. i.e., develop an app that is people friendly similar to the use of social media platforms like Tiktok, Facebook and even the Instagram. The use of social media for interaction is overwhelming therefore developing a similar platform that discusses health and other related issues isn’t a bad idea as it will allow individuals to freely express their health issues and seek possible solutions thereby enhancing the speed at which this emerging diseases are identified managed to avoid spread which in turn endangers individual health. The activities of Active health professional including doctors, nurses etc. serving as online assistants should be employed and stationed to work remotely at their various communities or member countries to provide solution and listen to various emerging issues from individuals on the platform. Still stressing on the need to make the app user friendly is necessary to erase boredom. This can also include embracing entertaining activities on the platform hence developing traffic. This solution will mostly work in literate environments especially communities where internet broadband is active.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), ‘it takes less than 36 hours for an outbreak to spread from a remote village to any major city of the world’’, therefore, the need to become health conscious and develop pragmatic measures as will be opined from this write-up to help proactive solutions to emerging health threatening diseases emerging globally from communities. Because pandemics are not country or age specific, our population is the general audience.(everyone). We have developed plans to make everyone especially in Nigeria to use our app by introducing entertaining outfits that will encourage General participation.

There are certain identifiable gaps within local communities according to the CDC, about 70% of the world’s countries report that they are not fully prepared for an outbreak, which provides immediate implementation of every plan developed in this write-up. What is your solution’s stage of development?

Concept: An idea being explored for its feasibility to build a product, service, or business model based on that idea.

Explain why you selected this stage of development for your solution.

Abuja is the capital city of Nigeria, in the middle of the country. The skyline of the city, which was built largely in the 1980s, is dominated by Aso Rock, an enormous monolith. It rises up behind the Presidential Complex, which houses the residence and offices of the Nigerian president in the Three Arms Zone on the eastern edge of the city. Nearby are the National Assembly and the Supreme Court of Nigeria. We choose Abuja because we want to reach other parts of the country easily from here as it both has rural and urban networks which is the central thesis of our plan.
