SUMMARY OF CONCLUSIONS
To MIT, Solve a pandemic is just as much of a social science issue as it is a medical one. A professor of public policy and sociology at the University of Zimbabwe specializes in public health and medical sociology, analyzing how various social factors impact population health around the world.
As the Kynet Solutions began studying trends in vaccine uptake after a 2015 measles outbreak which affected people, many of them unvaccinated. As Kynet Solutions we continues to study vaccine hesitancy, or the reasons underlying whether parents might choose not to vaccinate their children, and he has taken a keen interest in how anti-vaccine activists have “moved into the space around COVID-19” and found allies when it comes to broader issues such as government overreach.
One of the most concerning elements of the coronavirus pandemic, according to, Kynet Solutions has been its politicization. In particular, cherry-picking scientific findings, or using the lens of science to push an agenda, as had dire effects on people’s risk perceptions.
“Polls have shown there are definite demographic and partisan differences when it comes to people’s perceived risk of COVID-19,”. “That, to me, is the most insidious impact of the misinformation people are receiving, because not only will it undermine our best efforts to protect people, but it’ll also sow political unrest or discord around public health and governmental decision-making.”
Add to the mix a lack of consistent messaging from elected and other public officials, as well as social media mechanisms that allow information to travel “almost faster than the virus,” and you have the recipe for an ideal environment for misinformation to proliferate, thus weakening response, Kynet Solutions With eyes already on the next global health event, offered few recommendations to ensure a more coordinated, successful response to future pandemics:
1. Maintain a consistent social media messaging strategy for public officials:
2. Develop a more effective marketing approach for promoting public health protocols and protective measures:
3. Have experts work with the media to improve coverage of science:
4. Form a pandemic review committee:
5. Establish a more coordinated focus on public health funding:
6. The use of herbs on day to day to fight the immune system since vaccine is expensive .
1. Maintain a consistent social media messaging strategy for public officials:
Government’s officials should avoid politicizing future pandemics by working together to adopt a clear and consistent messaging strategy around them. Despite some obvious outliers, the majority of people have abided by certain protective measures over the course of the coronavirus pandemic. This suggests most people have remained mindful of protecting themselves and others by following the recommendations of scientists and other experts — and are likely to continue to do so given the proper guidance.
In Addition Kynet Solution developed and programmed social media bot’s e.g. Whatsapp bot for cooperates, stakeholder’s and educational sector to operate on the platforms and deliver phenomenon results.
“Clear and consistent communication, even when it has to be changed and updated, is essential. The takeaway is that people will understand mistakes when politicians own up to them — they shouldn’t be afraid of damaging their credibility.
2. Develop a more effective marketing approach for promoting public health protocols and protective measures:
Kynet Solutions noted disappointment with what is called the “marketing approach” around COVID-19. Public health and other agencies should be investing in advertisements and other forms of direct communication to motivate people to wear masks or maintain physical distancing, for example.
“Generally, hate the idea of celebrities being the face of science, but don’t think it would be a bad thing to have celebrities or other trusted messengers on TV talking about the benefits of wearing a mask,” “That’s the kind of move that needs to be done at the start of a recommendation or order and as part of an ongoing ‘booster’ strategy to reinforce to the public the importance of the activity, sort of like with some vaccines we receive. The important thing is: It can’t be boring or else people will tune out. Many people are already distrustful of vaccines or of the current administration, so having a consistent messaging strategy and the right people to deliver it would go a long way toward building trust with the public when it comes to a safe, effective vaccine and/or other therapies, as well as guidelines or recommendations such as sheltering in place and mask wearing.”
3. Have experts work with the media to improve coverage of science:
One reason why misinformation has proliferated in recent months is because the media has too often rushed coverage of scientific “discoveries” without respecting the usual checks and balances under which the scientific community operates, Kynet Solutions said. This has led to an overabundance of coverage of data and findings that haven’t been properly vetted and often end up debunked, which in turn risks increasing public confusion and skepticism.
“Professional science organizations and medical associations, among other groups, could be helpful here by sitting down with members of the media and offering some guidelines for how best to report science, including how not to present misinformation through false balance with accurate facts,” Kynet Solutions said. “We really need our reporters to put the good information first and the misinformation second, if they need to include mention of the misinformation at all.”
In addition, Kynet Solutions reporters should be advised to be wary of where they’re receiving their information — and from whom.
“They might be seeing press releases from pharmaceutical companies, for example, or from academics who are looking to get attention,” “Reporting certain ‘findings’ too early could really undermine faith in a vaccine and trust in other sorts of evidence-based initiatives that public health officials might be trying to implement.”
4. Form a pandemic review committee:
Citing of the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the world, also known as the 9/11 Commission, when describing the kind of review committee that should be set up in the aftermath of COVID-19 to help public officials better understand what happened on a national level and why. Formed in 2002, the independent, bipartisan commission was tasked with preparing a complete account of the circumstances surrounding the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks and providing recommendations to guard against future attacks.
“The history of the U.S. offers many examples where policymakers needed to learn from mistakes,” “Disasters often have to happen for us to learn, it seems, instead of us thinking proactively about how to prepare for those situations before they happen. When it comes to the coronavirus pandemic, we need to have a high-level review of what happened, why things happened the way they did, and which checks and balances or preparations weren’t in place — essentially, how did our response unfold and how can we do things better?”
5. Establish a more coordinated focus on public health funding:
Public health has been underfunded for years, Kynet Solutions said, much to the public’s detriment. As a result, we need to be proactively thinking about different ways to improve the public health system at the federal, state, and local levels, particularly when it comes to infectious disease surveillance and outbreak preparedness and management.
“We also need to better plan for potential blowback against public health officials,” he added. “Recently, there has been talk about protecting these people the same way we do judges or other high-ranking officials, because many have been on the receiving end of threats or other forms of intimidation, and that most definitely undermines public
6. The use of herbs on day to day to fight the immune system since vaccine is expensive .
Zumbani / umsuzwane as is locally known, is scientifically known as Lippia javanica (Burm. f) Spreng. It is a woody erect shrub which not only naturally grows in Zimbabwe but can also be found in other parts of Southern, Central and Eastern Africa. Some studies have reported its existence in the tropical Indian subcontinent. Zumbani as is popularly known in Zimbabwe has several beneficial nutritional and medicinal components which make the plant both food and medicine. Plants that are both nutritional and medicinal are called nutraceuticals. Thus, zumbani may qualify as both a recreational and a medicinal caffeine free tea.
Our research revealed that zumbani is a good source of phenolic compounds which act as antioxidants when consumed.
The types of antioxidants which we found in zumbani are very useful in mopping out toxic chemicals (radicals) which naturally accumulate in the body when it is stressed out by a fever, disease, overthinking or even intense physical exercise. Radicals should not accumulate in the body otherwise if left to rise they may lead to detrimental ailments such as cancer, diabetes or a weak immune system. One of our studies indicated that zumbani had higher antioxidant potential than the popular commercial brand Rooibos™ which was on the shelves.
There are multiple classes of phytochemicals found in zumbani which include flavonoids, alkaloids, iridoids and essential oils which contribute to its medicinal properties. Scientific reviews carried out so far indicate that the plant has a wide range of pharmacological activities, which include antioxidant, antidiabetic, antimalarial, antiplasmodial and pesticidal effects. Yet at the same time has nutritional properties such as amino acids and minerals such as zinc.
In the recent past there has been a growing interest in consuming zumbani tea in Zimbabwe because of its associated respiratory pandemics healing properties. The plant is also known as fever tea because it has been effectively used as an ethnomedicinal cure for fevers and chest related ailments such as sore throats, coughs, bronchitis, sinuses, pneumonia and asthma. It is important to emphasize that this is not a prescriptive article to anyone who may have any of the above ailments, but a general report of how the plant has been effectively used in ethnomedicine. It is encouraged that anyone with a health altering condition first seek medical attention before they can try alternative means.
Zimbabweans in most cases use zumbani either as dried or fresh leaves brewed into an herbal tea / tisane and drunk as is or in some cases with sugar or honey to taste. It is more beneficial to drink without milk as the milk proteins and fats may mask some of the health beneficial phytochemicals. There are also some volatile medicinal phytochemicals found in the plant which explains why it is has also been effectively use d for steaming to clear out nasal passages. In communal areas where it grows abundantly, it is also commonly used as a mosquito repellent and for treating skin infections because of its antimicrobial properties. In some parts of Zimbabwe, the leaf ointment is rubbed on the chest and abdomen as a remedy for pneumonia.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This report examines the current state of preparedness for pandemics by “Kynet Solutions”—that is, pandemics with the potential for widespread transmission and high observed mortality. Were a high-pandemic to emerge, either naturally or as the result of accidental or deliberate release, it would likely have significant public health, economic, social, and political consequences. Novel high-impact pandemic have a combination of qualities that contribute to their potential to initiate. The combined possibilities of short incubation periods and asymptomatic spread can result in very small windows for interrupting transmission, making such an outbreak difficult to contain. The potential for high-impact pandemic to affect many countries at once will likely require international approaches different from those that have typically occurred in geographically limited events, such as the Ebola crisis in Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
Numerous high-level reviews have been commissioned in recent years to take stock of global preparedness for infectious disease outbreaks, epidemics, and pandemics. These reviews have assessed current preparedness structures and capabilities, have identified existing gaps, and have proposed recommendations for strengthening outbreak prevention, detection, and response. But preparedness for a high-impact pandemic has received little specific focus in these high-level reviews. While there has been some focus on improving international and national capacities for pandemics, specifically after the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, there have been few (if any) high-level reviews or recommendations focusing on the possibility of other high-impact respiratory pathogens with pandemic potential. The lack of global attention on and consideration of this threat speaks to the urgency of addressing preparedness for epidemics and pandemics that might be caused by high-impact respiratory pathogens. While there is overlap between the systems and capabilities required to respond to any disease outbreak, a high-impact pandemic poses serious additional challenges that deserve special consideration.
In preparing this report, reviewed high-level reviews of global preparedness and conducted interviews with international experts in pandemic preparedness and response. The state of national and global readiness in functional areas were examined: global preparedness mechanisms; multispectral involvement and coordination; surveillance, monitoring, and assessment; health systems and clinical management; community engagement; risk communication; research and development for medical countermeasures; non pharmaceutical interventions; accidental release and biosafety; and deliberate use and biosecurity. In our findings, we detail capabilities and gaps that would likely hamper efforts to respond to a high-impact respiratory pathogen. The report identifies priority actions for countries, international organizations, and other stakeholders to pursue that would mitigate the public health, economic, social, and political consequences of the emergence of a high-impact respiratory pathogen.
FINDINGS
HOW CAN THE WORLD BETTER PREPARE FOR OUTBREAKS CAUSED
Adopt a Robust Strategy for Domestic and Global Pandemic Preparedness
This comprehensive and coordinated strategy to advance pandemic preparedness proposes new infrastructure and investments at the national and global levels. At home, the Kynet Solutions calls on the world to elevate pandemic preparedness to a core national economic and security objective and organize and invest accordingly, revitalize the beleaguered, and clarify federal and state authorities and roles for pandemic response. Internationally, we advocate for continued countries membership in WHO and support for its lead role on the international health response to pandemics, a more vigorous involvement of the United Nations, the creation of a new Health Security Coordination Committee to mobilize pandemic response on economic and security matters that includes greater involvement of civil society and the private sector, and the establishment of new mechanisms to finance pandemic preparedness and response internationally.
To facilitate such an integrated health security budget, the Kynet Solutions recommends that Congress establish bipartisan select committees or formal working groups in both chambers. Today, jurisdiction over global health matters is fragmented across a dozen committees and subcommittees in the House and Senate. Congressional leaders should rectify this by establishing specialized bodies that can provide a coordinated vision for the regular committees of jurisdiction. In parallel with these federal-level steps, state governors and legislatures should maintain their own pandemic preparedness budgets, which COVID-19 has exposed as wanting.
Despite the fact that the present-day consumer is more aware and concerned about safety issues, toxicological studies on herbal teas from Zimbabwe have been scarce. If any herbal product, whether tea or otherwise, is to acquire global acceptance, the consumer must be satisfied that sufficient enquiry and interrogation has been done with respect to safety and toxicity. So far in my doctoral studies, I tested zumbani’s potential to harm the liver and kidney if consumed in excess and found that there was no detectable harm on these vital organs.
So far no comprehensive clinical study has been published to confirm zumbani as a solution to the raging corona virus pandemic. Most Zimbabweans who are using it have latched their hopes on the plant because of its effective respiratory healing properties which have stood the test of time in ethno medicine. It would however be prudent for Zimbabwean scientists to conduct clinical studies to vindicate circulating claims about the plant’s potential to treat or reduce the onset of corona virus disease 2019.
While there is still a need to unravel more magical properties of the plant, medical scientists and agronomists must form collaborative linkages with both local and international partners in order to grow a viable nutraceuticals industry in the country. So far in Southern Africa, zumbani is fairly traded in Zimbabwe, Botswana, and South Africa and scantily on the internet. There is however a yawning gap when we compare with rooibos as there still is no data on production levels, traded volumes, export figures and even a regulatory body to control its production, trade and quality of product. It is my sincere hope that we will live to see the dream of a thriving natural products industry in the country.
My interest in researching zumbani was largely inspired by the Aspalathus linearis plant popularly known as Rooibos™ which grows mainly in South Africa and very limited Mediterranean climates worldwide. Rooibos is one of the few wild species rich in antioxidants to have been developed as a commercial crop in the last 100 years. This was largely because South African scientists invested in testing the plant’s nutritional, medicinal and potentially harmful effects. After unravelling most of the beneficial properties and ironing out any potential toxic parameters, they went on to understand how the plant could be propagated and grown on a large scale. Fast forward, the plant is now one of our most cherished herbal teas world over. I believe zumbani tea has the same potential to follow the same trajectory.
NB COVID -19 IS STILL BEING ON THE RESEARCH TO SEE THE PERCENTAGE ZUMBANI HELPS:
THESE CONCLUSIONS ARE SUMMARIZED BELOW.

1. Customize your vision and strategy. Customize your organization’s diversity vision, definition, and rationale to fit the organization’s unique culture. Ensure that the message that diversity matters comes from the top.
United Way is a good example: More years ago, the diverse community of leaders who founded the organization realized that the acceptance of cultural, religious, and economic differences was essential to its core mission of strengthening local communities. The founding leaders implemented a diversity vision, definition, and rational that continues to successfully foster diversity from the top down.
2. Focus on impact and metrics. Set a baseline. Audit diversity at your organization to assess your current practices. Identify a set of metrics based on your customized vision and strategy, and ensure that your metrics are measuring both inputs and outputs. Review your key performance indicators annually at board of directors level and at least quarterly at executive level.
3. Focus on recruiting and selection practices. Provide training for unbiased interviewing and selection processes, and establish strategic partnerships that connect your organization with diverse talent pipelines.
College Track, a national college completion program that empowers students from underserved communities, has been successful in this endeavor. It worked with employees to launch new recruiting tactics after learning that there was a perceived lack of diversity in the hiring process. New tactics included expanded posting and recruiting sources, and asking a broader range of staff—including team members at different levels and sites—to participate in the interview process. As a result, College Track has become more inclusive and collaborative. The move also supports greater awareness and stronger internal culture related to diversity.
4. Invest in leadership development to retain high performers. Employ a range of formal and informal professional development tools, such as mentoring, coaching, and education opportunities. Regularly evaluate internal talent to ensure that employees of color are in the leadership development pipeline.
The New Teacher Project (TNTP), which works with school districts and state departments of education nationwide to ensure that poor and minority students get outstanding teachers, recognized the importance of investing in leadership development. It created a Diversity Recruitment Committee—a group of staff from across the organization that works to increase the number of employees who reflect communities TNTP serves, such as African American and Latino. Members of this team assist with TNTP’s hiring practices by attending conferences and networking events, mining their own networks for referrals, and conducting cultivation calls with potential candidates. They also work alongside TNTP’s Staff of Color Affinity Group to create connections and opportunities for growth and advancement for employees of color. As a result, TNTP’s hiring team has succeeded in building a deeper pool of diverse applicants.
5. Prompt ongoing discussion. Regularly engage in open, honest, and multidirectional dialogue at different levels, and work on developing a shared understanding that achieving diversity takes commitment and hard work from every member of the team.
One nonprofit, for example, developed fundraising materials that featured students of color. During a local diversity dialogue, a staff member reported that some team members considered the profiles of students disrespectful, because they used language that reinforced negative stereotypes. When the national office heard this feedback, it decided to revise the materials and change how it developed similar materials so that team members working locally—closest to the services—could give feedback during the development stage.
Building diverse and inclusive teams is not easy. It takes dedication and perseverance. We hope that this report provides a road map for organizations in the nonprofit space to move beyond discussion and good intentions to real, measurable action when it comes to diversity and inclusion. The students and families they serve deserve no less.

- Find some common ground
To create a beneficial partnership with someone, you need some form of common ground. Start by looking at their values. Do they align with yours? If you can’t find any overlap then the partnership will not be balanced. Next, uncover who their ideal customers are. Do they serve a similar customer to yours or are they reaching customers that are outside your wheelhouse? For example, if you serve small to mid-sized B2B customers and your potential partner has built their business on enterprise clients, then you may need to look for a partner that is a better fit.
- Consider their reputation
Before you jump in head first into partnerships, remember that when you choose to partner up with a business, you hitch your wagon to theirs. That means you need to do your due diligence to better understand their background and have researched the company thoroughly. You don’t want to be connected with a company that has had some shady dealings in the past as your reputation will be tarred with the same brush. Search Google, check out their profile on LinkedIn and browse their Facebook pages for more of an idea about how they are regarded by online.
- Look at an alternative service or product
If you are going to partner with a business, find one that can contribute a complimentary service, yet still has similar needs as your own. If you are in IT, then source a company which is compatible with that field. If you offer a product, search for someone that could provide a similar service which could tie in with the product. Or if you have a service, then approach a business that has a great product to bring to the table.
- Analyze current relationships
Perhaps you already have a relationship with a potential business partner, but you have yet to take action. Maybe you haven’t thought purposefully about how beneficial a partnership between the two of you could be? Think about who you interact with currently. Existing relationships can save a lot of time and energy. Who do you think would provide particular benefits to your organization in your current day-to-day dealings?
- Ask for a referral
Is there someone that may be able to recommend a particular business or provide you with a referral? Maybe you have a possible shortlist of local enterprises and just need to source a connection to get you in the door. If you sincerely aim to partner with someone, then put it out there. You may find that your network has many great ideas. If all fails, then reach out to your shortlist and see what comes back.
- Look for established businesses
Partnering with a startup may be beneficial to some companies, but it may also be in your best interests to work with those that already have a lot of customers. Identify those businesses with a good social media presence and a large email list of potential clients or customers. Invest your time and get to know them on a personal level before you sign on the dotted line. If you don’t feel you are up to the task of approaching them, then hire an outside business development firm to do it for you.
- Go local
While you may find that partnering with a larger business in another state may be in your favor, there is a lot to be said for maintaining local connections. Keep your eyes open at networking events and meetups, and browse possibilities at local business meetings and seminars. You will be able to create a stronger bond and have a better understanding of each other’s needs through regular face to face meetings.
Don’t rush into making a wrong partnership decision because you have some self-imposed deadline in mind. Take your time to interview potential business partners and thoroughly research each possibility. You don’t want to find out months into your agreement that you had overlooked something major and have to backtrack out of your proposal as that will send the wrong message to your new found partner and potential customers. If you are genuine and have a well-planned strategy, then partnerships could be just the channel you have been looking for to grow your business.

They identify areas that demand greater attention from civil-society organizations, tech start-ups, social enterprises, NGOs and the private sector to fulfill social innovation’s promise of refugee inclusion:
- It is not enough to be innovative. To be effective, partnerships between actors with different institutional cultures and uneven power dynamics require clear communication, a shared vision and agreed-upon division of labor.
- The best story is not necessarily a sign of effectiveness. Successful assessment and evaluation of social innovation initiatives is lacking, and there is a limited understanding of what to measure, when and how.
- Plugging the gaps. Social innovation often falls through the gaps of traditional public and private funding, and new funding models, for example social impact bonds, must be developed, particularly for grassroots initiatives.
- Growing and spreading good ideas. Whilst platforms proliferated after the migration crisis to encourage exchange between stakeholders of all stripes, most have struggled to promote more in-depth conversation.
Amid a significant backlash to migrants and refugees, initiatives that engage communities could hold the key to rebuilding public trust. But the authors caution that most social innovations have been preaching to the converted. To generate greater value, they will need to have greater reach—including to geographical regions more unused to or skeptical of social and cultural change.
