With the increasing public safety threats across sub-Saharan africa ranging from pandemics, crime, terrorism and natural disasters and several mores, thousands of avoidable  lives are getting lost and many more endangered. Our solution provides a collaborative and data-driven approach to public safety management allowing citizens and safety providers/first responders to seamless collaborate through sharing of critical information/incidences and intelligence allowing both a proactive and "see & say" approach to public safety management across societies. Our mobile solution offers an emergency and incident management solution that enables quick and reliable sharing of critical situations to local authorities and improves responsiveness of first responders. Using a two-way channel, it enables sharing of situational info and awareness. Additionally the solution is to be integrated with a data analytics solution that will allow prediction and mapping of incidences in real time. Once everyone is empowered via this solutions, many lives will be saved globally.

Thousands of avoidable lives continue getting lost and property destroyed in various emergency situations such as  fire, Medical, Natural disasters, pandemics such as Covid-19 ,industrial and highway accidents, public health issues, organized crimes and many more  across sub-Saharan Africa  due to poor response mechanisms  usually occasioned by poor Reliable emergency notification channels linking communities  and safety providers as well as poor collaboration structures among communities and authorities.

According to the United Nations' statisticalanalysis1, “mortality and property losses caused by disasters and incidents is growing. Many factors, such as a lack of disaster assessment and preparedness, poor early warning capabilities, and lack of cross-agency collaborative command and dispatch, bring various challenges to crisis and disaster management”.

The current global situation is  characterized by rising occurrences of natural disasters and pandemics, advancement of criminal and terrorist attacks and many other unforeseen eventualities, increasingly posing threats to public safety. 

Various Public safety providers and agencies are also challenged on service delivery due to failure to use modern tools that are data driven to better their decision-making capabilities in planning and preparedness, operational efficiencies and other pro-active strategies to public safety management

Our  solution offers an accessible, easy to use and reliable emergency notification and incident management platform for citizens, businesses and public safety providers.

Using the ‘community policing concept’, the solution offers crowd sourced safety, response &rescue, situational awareness and intelligence system across various players by enabling citizen engagement in various public safety issues. This enables faster sharing of alerts, intelligence and situational info in a single tab to a pre-configured response group(s) enabling faster response.

Our solution will  further  integrate  data analytics tools to analyze  user generated data into usable information that can provide useful insights for various users. This will  enable  predicting patterns and trends of crime/incident occurrences,  incident investigation where unrelated events can be linked together, as well as incident mapping. We believe if well harnessed appropriately, the enormous amount of data generated can be used to prevent criminal activity while integrating digital technology into services can generate savings and drive value for the public.

In addition, the solution is engineered to allow multiple application integrations with various public safety providers such as emergency transport provider solutions, telehealth platforms etc. through a partnership model giving our users the convenience of accessing numerous public safety services within the solution.

We have designed the solution to be suitable for use by Citizens, Business Entities and Public safety teams/agencies. 

The current global situation characterized by rising occurrences of natural disasters and pandemics, advancement of criminal and terrorist attacks and many other unforeseen eventualities, a great threat is increasingly getting posed to public safety and need for innovative and collaborative solutions is becoming a necessity to help prevent and mitigate these threats more promptly. 

When an emergency or security event occurs, the ability of the victim  to communicate directly with security personnel, law enforcers, and first responders as well as other relevant authorities is essential for any public safety system.

We also believe technologies that enable public involvement are the ultimate. Citizens are the eyes and the ears of our societies. No sensor and AI can exceed human presence. Humans can tell better than anything else as well as offer witnesses to shape up cases

At the same time the risks to business operations and continuity are exponentially increasing making it practically necessary for businesses to have real-time emergency notification and management systems in their enterprises. Various Public safety providers and agencies are also challenged on service delivery due to failure to use modern tools that are data driven to better their decision-making capabilities in planning and preparedness, operational efficiencies and other pro-active strategies to public safety management 

Additionally, our analytic reports will be useful for government agencies, research bodies and other consumers of such data allowing a pro-active approach in public  safety management as well as in better planning and resource allocation.

Our problem, solution and our target population are aligned with the goals of the challenge. The solution empowers citizens to protect themselves through forming response groups within their communities allowing them to play pro-active roles that ensure safety of their societies. The solution also provides safety providers with dedicated channels to engage, educate and inform the public on various public safety concerns.

We are a pilot because we just launched our product MVP in our launch market(Kenya).We believe the product will undergo various iterations based on feedback from our early users before we attain a product-market fit.We are getting our solution tested in our three categories of target users and the feedback we are getting is great and progressive.We have so far received an okay to partner with one of the major first response provider in the country(  St.Johns Ambulance Kenya) and we are also in engagement with several other strategic partners to have them onboarded. So Far we have also attained several app downloads from friends.We are also through our social media platforms creating a community through which we are engaging them by sharing informative and educative safety information. 

Looking at the current solutions available such as emergency numbers(112/199) and emergency numbers provided by various public safety teams /first respnders, they have all proven to be unreliable and also unpopular for use and in most cases distance away to help during critical time bound situations.The public safety systems are also isolated with very little collaboration among players. 

Our competitiveness is engraved on the collaborative approach that the solution offers in addressing public safety by bringing together in a structured way the public and all players in public security, emergency service providers, other government agencies and institutions of public interest in a single loop making it hustle less for members of the public to report, share and receive emergency and intelligence alerts among themselves and with first responders. We bring a predictive approach in public safety management through analyzing of crime statistics enabling first responders to use resources more efficiently and identifying predictive hotspots  . Our solutions also empowers everyone as a “public safety agent ”making our environments more safe. Besides, it is accessible to all mobile devices in addition to the fact that it compliments more than compete with existing technologies.

Currently we are pilot stage and are looking at serving a small group of users (less 500). However in an years time we intend to be serving over 10,000 users  and over 500,000 users in the next half a decade.

Our team is a made of young and diverse members passionate about technology and social impact solutions.The team is  well-positioned to deliver this solution because of the successful track record of creating and developing innovative solutions and have good experince in their areas of expertise. Some have business backgrounds and can provide administrative support and Marketing backgrounds.  Our software developer is highly skilled in the creating and deployment of the solution. We believe the team has a good blend to necessary to steer the solution to the market.

However, we intend to expand the team  over the next few months concentrating on areas of marketing and software. In addition we will engage advisers  in various areas to compliment the team.

We have embraced diversity,equity and inclusion in our team. Our team comprises of members from diverse backgrounds and religion. We have also ensured we are gender balanced with atleast 2/5 women in the team and are committed to ensure we design and adhere to policies that give everyone an equal chance of working with us.

I need support mainly through mentorship, coaching and strategic advice on a number of operational and product areas. I would also wish to leverage on the Solve network to acquire partners as well as get financial support to build the product fully.

We are currently at the formative stages of our business with no fully formed structures for the business and company and would therefore need support on strategic team building. At the same time we are looking at getting support to refine our business model and get it aligned to help us achieve a product-market fit within a reasonable time frame. Technology support is our other area of need especially to refine the existing solution and in building a robust data analytics system.

Getting financial support in terms of refining our pitch and financial documents also compliment on our areas of need.

We would wish partner with organizations in the public safety industry or any other related industries to build operational and business synergies in.

We also looking to partner with technology companies in software and data analysis sphere for technology sharing.

We are also interested in partnering with humanitarian organization in using our solution to enhance their operations.

Our solution is in line with their objective as it directly addresses the health and well-being of people.

Our solution is qualified for this prize for two reasons;

1. Our solution has been designed to enable reporting of women/girl based violence and mistreatment to various authorities within their localities. This is aimed to protect ,empower and advance the needs of women and girls, and that promote a world where women’s voices can be heard and celebrated.

2.We have considered women and given them an equal chance to be part of the team spearheading this solution

Our solution integrates AI and Data Analytics tools to analyze user generated content and generate useful insights for use by our various users. We plan to empower a data-driven approach to public safety management across Sub-Saharan Africa by providing insights that can be used in mapping of hotspots, prediction of crime and other incidences as well as aiding in investigation and research. We shall use this prize mainly to build a more robust data analytics and AI engine that is reliable both internally and also externally to our partners.

Our solution embraces a community involvement approach to health security and general public safety. The solution also comes with dedicated channels that ensures prompt communication of stock out of essential commodities to relevant authorities. we shall use this our award to better our solution to ensure it articulates better support of community health workers and services in communication and reporting to ensure life-saving commodities are availed promptly.
