Empowerment Digital Laboratory (EDL)

We are an institution that is committed to resolving the problem poverty among indigenous population by extracting their ideas and making them presentable and achievable within their context given their resources. We want to reduce, if not eradicate poverty and boost standards of living.

We are proposing our EDL which assembles men and women of different background and sphere of influence, that can assist directly or indirectly the local population connect to their dreams despite their limitations thereby empowering themselves.

Starting from the local indigenous population, that is, from the roots,. This initiative will be able to promote and locate powerful ideas in entrepreneurship and charitable gestures which can revamp growth thereby reduce poverty at all local level. We will positively affect the entire community. This possible because most of the initiatives brought in for analysis and polishing is from the locals themselves and seek to take part in it.

In the English speaking regions of Cameroon, that is, the North West and South West Regions, a serious conflict is going on. People are being killed and thousands moving from their homes in search of safety. Before the conflict there has been high poverty levels with families in villages unable feed themselves. Education was a problem due to low quality of education. Today, thousands of children have dropout from school as the result of the war adding to the status quo.

When children don't go to school a the whole generation suffers. These children attain maturity with low standard of education. The effect of school stoppage are going to disastrous. High level of unemployment Will come in, resistance to positive change, poverty and delinquency. 

With EDL, there is hope. They won't necessarily need to study through the regular classrooms. From the aspects of business and life in which most of them show interest, they can be trained. Their business ideas groomed thought experts and their dreams easily expressed for well wishers despite their educational limitations. This will go a long way to get them involved in solving the problem of poverty and the rise in a juvenile delinquency.

EDL solution is simple, experts in diverse fields and background signaled when we receiving people with initiative that touch their expertise. We clearly define ideas considering the areas which the it can be applied. 

We then channel them through our mechanism which will polish the idea and present to our the Digital team. This team will transform the initiative Using Digital Technology for easy comprehension and further exploitation. 

With the help of our Specialist, we now do some simulations, testing many possibilities and how feasible the initiative can be. We go ahead as to make recommendations if need be. We could bridge gaps so as to make the activity a success by adding the initiative to our network, just like in demand and supply.

The end product of any transformation will be; 

1) An electronic presentation,

2) A well documented problematic stating the required resources and the sphere in which it practicable.

3) A solution to the problem and detailed explanation how it can be realised. 

4) Execution of initiative. This is done directly by us or a third party. 

5) We follow up and make sure the initiative grows and made available electronically where applicable

The target population are the dorminant vulnerable indigenous people in war torn areas such as the North West and South West Regions of Cameroon and people suffering from high poverty levels as well as areas where the level of education is poor and indigens there cannot provide basic needs such as three square meals a day, did not pass through some formal education, lack clothing and shelter.

All initiative shall be represented In digital form and made accessible to all. 

This solution will go a long way to create something out of what they will generally term "Nothing". Jobs will be created, poverty levels are going to drop, standard of living will improve and the population will be empowered to think, plan and execute. In a prefect scenario as we envisage, once the general population is fully involved in their own well-being our job is considered successful. 

We organise training programs that are orientated towards job creation and self sustaining. Seminars and workshops with the indigenous population making them understand the importance of working with EDL.

EDL will promote indigenous population to see the world of possibilities and feel they belong. This is done by reducing unemployment, poverty, illiteracy and juvenile delinquency, it is important that the population involves itself in their own well being.

This solution extracts sleeping talents or entrepreneurial skills from indigenous population, makes them clearly define and above all makes these initiatives available or accessible all over the world. 

This solution relates with the third challenge because it targets people and small groups, then uses digital technology to transform ideas, create a product and make the product available to the market.

This solutions stage of development can be considered a concept because we have been working with a few members of the community. We have been working behind the scenes for  years and have impacted the lives of more than 30 people. Our counsel and follow up to young businesses testifies to our services and products. We have succeded to cause business to market the product through the web by obtaining websites at a cheap cost.

We believe this idea of ours which is working can be expanded to more communities. We consider our solution a concept because for the while that we have been within these communities and the activities we involve ourselves in, it is obvious that we know what can make us excel more and moreover we have started experimenting our idea for many years now and the idea works.

Our solution is higly innovative because of it's form and nature of functioning. It makes use of experts and creation of a network. This enables maximization of available resources at relatively little or no cost but for a few. The solutions touches all lives and promote and encourages everyone to use our powerful database for their enrichment and exploitation. A villager in Kumbo, Cameroon can create a tomatoe farm if not employed simply because he has acces to to our database of information in how to open and manage a tomatoe farm among others. He could as well join the some famers who are succeeding in the farming Business. 

Nowadays we can find documents explaining how things are done all over the internet but none will provide follow up during execution. Our solution will not only provide follow up but the follow up is provided by experienced people in the field. More so, EDL will encourage people who have common initiatives to relate with each other. We empower our clients to be self dependent at most or interdependent at least.

Where need be we create workshops for sensitisation while using our facilities and machine since we will be dealing with mostly the dominant less privilege population. Short training programs in computer literacy and create training centers with standard international computer literacy programs like IC3 which will empower indigens for online study and research for the uneducated or those who did go through formal education in war turn areas.

Currently, we are working with 10 people. Our team is small at the moment and limited in resources we are sure to serve more than 50 people in a years time and in five years about 300 people thus adding them to the existing network.

However if the our initiative grows we are sure to serve more people as the years go by.

At full capacity, we can convincingly say that we can  impact the lives of more than 2000 people positively in 5 years by empowering them to conceive, plan and execute. This involves people of all age groups not excluding students.

Before EDL recieves a client some information is collected before works begin. As we progress we can appreciate how the lives of those we interact with have evolved. 

Evolution can be observed with income per cycle of activity, that is, farming season for farmers and complete turn over per business.

Clients we deal with provide regular reports on their activities so that we can see how to ameliorate their situation to make it better. This is achieved through follow up.

Before and After a training workshop, an examination is written by participants so as to know their level before and after the workshop or course.

All these and more can provide a means by which we can measure the impact of goal on the local population.

The Secretary General and two (2) Auxiliary personel who relates and also assist in identifying people of substance.

We work from different locations and most of our solutions are digitally related.

We don't use part-time workers. 

We are well positioned to deliver this of solution because we have experience and we see the problems and have master the terrain. 

We are competent and are upto the task. In our team, we have personel with expertise is graphical design and animation, photogrammetry and remote sensing, web design, systems Administration, data processing, project planning and Network engineering. Our scope is wide and our knowledge is good. We have the ability to assemble people and resources and to adapt to changes.

Our team is comprised of a Geologist, cartographer, ICT specialist, graphic desinger. All of us are free thinkers and adapt quickly.

We are fully aware of the cultural background of the tribes that form the population of this regions in Cameroon. We are also aware that tribalism, sectarianism is common among people in these communities. Despite all these we are objective in our works.

We give every client that is willing to share with us that opportunity to express themselves after passing through our laboratory. 

Without bias we respect human rights and client privacy. 

All these applying to both our working staff and client who are predominantly indigenous population who may not have gone through formal education.

I’m applying to Solve is because Solve can give us the chance to realize our dream of creating a center for computer literacy guided towards creating jobs by using digital technology. This facility is a hybrid that build for income generating purposes and involves community integration. Solve will provide us with resources that can facilitate the realization of our dream. We will test and simulate initiatives so as to increase the chances of succes.

We know solve can provide us needed resources like equipment and finance for or institution to take its full form. 

At the national level we are skilled but we need to match with international level. We need support so as to grow and meet up with the modern day development and synchronize at the international level.

EDL needs all forms of support it can get. Working with HP as partner will greatly provide hardware that can equip our facility that would be established in the months ahead. 

Not only shall we have enough equipment to train population in this area but we will be able to do and impact a great multitude.
