Compu Cuantrix
During the last year, we discover that remote work is growing rapidly, and to be able to access better job opportunities it's important to learn how to use the internet and other web apps that help us share our work with others.
That’s why we create the Compu Cuantrix App in which you will find tools and visual resources to learn from scratch and gain more and more skills, with which you will generate new job opportunities for yourself, you can learn or update the use of the computer, the internet and different programs frequently used in the work world. Word processing, email, social media, spreadsheets, presentations, online files, and a whole range of new tools.
Compu Cuantrix is fighting to reach digital alphabetization, the technologic revolution is our reality, and we believe education is the solution to inequalities in Mexico.
The pandemic of coronavirus disease shows the entire world the necessity of recognizing digital literacy as the most important skill to be competitive and successful in the 21st-century.
The great powers war is about technology innovation, and education is the raw material to make any country competitive. The last rate of unemployment in Mexico is 4.7% and the number of years of education an average Mexican has is 9.1, Mexico is one of the most promising economies but to reach our potential we need to impulse technology and education
Compu Cuantrix is a mobile application that offers three educational levels intending to teach basic notions of the use of the internet and computers that may be helpful at office jobs or entrepreneurship.
The curriculum of each level is below here:
Basic Level: The computer as a global tool and its components. Internet. Business and the use of social media: Facebook, Whatsapp, LinkedIn.
Intermediate Level: Using Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Instagram, Zoom, and Teams.
Advanced Level: Storage at the cloud, the role of coding, web and app design, and how can I keep learning?
After completing each level each person earns a learning certificate so they can use it to prove that they have the computer basic skills for the challenges of today’s work.
We think those are the essential topics in which working-age people in Mexico struggle and is important that digital alphabetization includes not only kids and teenagers.
Compu Cuantrix directly serves the population over 18 years old who had lost their jobs due to the pandemic, and lack the knowledge and understanding on how to use digital tools. This sector is vulnerable because they do not have an economic income and are not able to take classes and improve their digital skills, that is why they need to become digitally literate.
Three levels were developed (basic, intermediate, and advanced) which address the use of a computer, creating an email, accounts, and use of social networks, internet searches, LinkedIn profile, office 365 package, creating websites and mobile applications, among others.
These contents are delivered to the target population in different ways: through the mobile application, which allows the user to learn while solving exercises, creating and collecting experiences, and consulting their ranking in leagues of each of the levels.
- Equip everyone, regardless of age, gender, education, location, or ability, with culturally relevant digital literacy skills to enable participation in the digital economy.
We align to the challenge because in Compu Cuantrix we are searching to:
- Help people to get online and use the internet in their favor.
- Build an inclusive digital economy by helping working-age people to improve their digital skills and in consequence their employability options
- Growth: An organization with an established product, service, or business model rolled out in one or, ideally, several communities, which is poised for further growth.
We are now in the stage of growth because we had tested several times our app in closed groups and we successfully improve the UX and the learning experience. Now all of our efforts are dedicated to increase app downloads.
Until now we have an average of 5,585 daily downloads only in the Android Play Store, despite our successful app release, we are focused on growing our users by specific marketing efforts and the help of government and private allies.
- A new application of an existing technology
Our solution is innovative because it is a friendly app and the only one that teaches working-age people digital abilities as a gamification learning experience through a points-based reward system to keep users engaged.

Until now we have given more than 4,000 certificates and our goal this year is to reach 120,000 certificates. Our first-year goal is very ambitious, but we think if we keep working on it we could keep that tendency and have at least 600,000 certificates in five years.
We have three main daily indicators: register users, people with activity, and certified levels. In addition to those, we are measuring different indicators of usability and the sources of user acquisition.

Compu Cuantrix is created and supervised by the same team that created Cuantrix, a program that focuses on generating opportunities for children in Mexico through computer science and coding with an impact on more than 300,000 students.
This made us look at the adult population and focus on their digital literacy, giving them the tools to learn, improve and generate opportunities in their lives and employment.
The team is conformed of 4 women and 1 man so we try to empower women in tech in our everyday work, we even have a specific initiative called Technolochicas.org
- Individual consumers or stakeholders (B2C)
By winning this grant, we would use the mentoring and the funding to reach our goal of 120,000 certified people in one year and to strengthen our team to continue growing this network of solvers.
- Financial (e.g. improving accounting practices, pitching to investors)
- Monitoring & Evaluation (e.g. collecting/using data, measuring impact)
- Technology (e.g. software or hardware, web development/design, data analysis, etc.)
We have a great team and we know our goal is ambitious so the project needs partners with new ideas to improve the impact of our educational material. We can generate more and better information about user's needs. We also need to be able to use this new data in a more strategic way and keep making our app more attractive and useful.
MIT media lab lifelong kindergarten: improving our learning experience and making different experiments on how the users learn in our app, also making impact analysis
Solve Network: To be able to share our knowledge with other Solvers and improve our organization.
